People frequently misinterpret and get overly defensive in the face of criticism. Saying please let's be nice to Fdev is understandable and in some ways admirable... but not constructive. This thread isn't a dumpster fire, it's a lot of people expressing very valid concerns about a change.

I'm not objecting to the feedback, even if I sometimes find it a tad too harsh to honestly count as constructive. We're passionate over ED and it shows. I was just referring to the performance of some individual CMDRs here.

The thread seems to have served its purpose since attention was drawn on the concern of drag frag introducing another mandatory meta weapon, but looking at the signal/noise ratio, I still classify this thread as a dumpster fire overall.

I totally forgot the update was coming. The plan was to get in to turn in data before the changes hit. Well good old me, dumb as a box of rocks, decided to do the last 40 jumps this morning. Oh well, I sure as heck hope the update doesn't turn 50 pages of data into pixel soup.

This module can also be used to enter orbit around a planetary body.

I repeat my question from the previous announcement of this new module: does this mean that we can actually enter orbit now? Because so far that was not possible, you only ever could enter a "powered hover" where you would start falling like a stone if you turn to FAOFF, where materials dropped by destroyed ships would start falling, etc. It seems rather odd that there is no explicit bullet point about a change that you are now able actually enter orbit, yet for the component it is mentioned as if that were a regular thing already anyway.

Hyperspace Dethrottle (requires the Supercruise assist module. If switched on, throttle will automatically set to zero on entry to a new system)

Really? You need the supercruise àssist module to re-enable what was once a very basical quality-of-life feature?

If you use/waste drag on frags you are agreeing to cut your sustained frag DPS in half while being close enough to the target that you lose your only defense against Pacs for instance. I mean, if someone wants to try to CC me with wimpy drag frags, please try it ;)

Record it please! I want to watch the video. Surely a real fight will put an end to this debate, one way or the other.

That's actually what i am waiting for. As somebody who only sporadically engages in PvP I find Ziljans point of view very interesting. While a number of people go like "everything is settled, even before the patch was successfully installed", i am not so sure about it.

There are a few people around who have interesting ideas about these changes. And these thoughts seem valid enough that i think they're actually worth testing. (By better pilots than me, for sure. ) I mean, i also think that massively powerful binary effects are a bit weird. But dismissing changes and cursing them even before having a small look at them is a terrible tradition here. He's been done many times before. We had very good and useful changes shot down and destroyed during beta phases, exclusively based on feedback of people who had no access to the beta.

So yea. I also have my doubts on the proposed change, but i actually am very curious on how things turn out once people had their hands on it for a few weeks and started to also create builds which have the effect, how to use it and how to avoid it on their mind. There's at least the chance that SBs will not he the one and only utility in use any more, after all.

Great changes. I am not planning to use any of the new assists but I am sure many pilots will be happy for them, Making them optional is a good choice IMO.

"Highlights threat levels when the threat is higher than your combat rank (and lists if it is human or xeno) " - About this... I have always felt it is a bit weird to compare threat level to combat rank. Even an elite combatant can fly a harmless trading ship or can decide to take an old eagle for a spin... I know there are countless load out options for many ships and even a small one can be dangerous as hell, but to base the threat level solely on one's combat rank is just... too rough, lets say?
