Patch Notes Update April Update - Patch Notes

Bug Fixes and Improvements

This update includes over 800 fixes for various issues that have been discovered and investigated during the development process. For the sake of clarity, we have primarily listed below fixes for issues that have been reported to us by the community or other significant changes.

Diamondback Explorer
  • Fixed an issue with the yellow computer screen in the cockpit incorrectly showing as blue
So, over 800 bug fixes and the quoted one qualifies as special enough to be listed....
1) Who reported this bug?
2) Who upvoted this bug?
3) Who created a clever meme (like Elephant Butt Leather) to make this bug so important as to warrant noting?

Meanwhile, not a single PS4-specific bug is listed, nor are many other serious bugs reported, "up-voted" (via the old system), and discussed in the forums....

But thank you for fixing the game-breaking "blue is the new yellow" bug in the DBX, and taking the time to let all us know in these patch notes. I can't wait to see what the other 700 "unimportant" bugs are that were fixed. 😖

are you speaking to me, or generally? Cos it's weird, you quoted my post and then said the exact same thing I said but with different words...
What on earth are you on about? You explicitly said it was good and then put a meek little "side effects are bad" as if a blatant contradiction will make up for such a stupid comment.

Well at least in 2020 it'll all be sorted by playing it on your PS5... ;)

I'm sorry what? Drag munitions are already very powerful and annoying do deal with... you want to make it so that we can't boost at all now?
You do realize that drag munitions can be applied to seeker missiles right? A weapon that can be spammed over and over again at a target and that - if in packhound form - can barely be evaded if at all. You're basically making it impossible to survive in PvP if you don't have drag munitions now, and you're making fast ships obsolete in PvP (notably the Mamba and Krait Phantom you happily introduced recently; their entire strength is their speed).

It seems like another change which has been haphazardly implemented without consideration for balancing. Please, please don't go through with this - drag munitions are plenty powerful enough as it is.
So I have a bunch of drag munition pack hounds just sitting around...
Will be interesting to see what effect these changes have.

drag munition : i'm for everything who push against this meta pvp gaming who is plasma fdl. That will force players to think with more diversity , so it's cool for pvpers.
but yeah, it's also cool for gankers.it's cool too for non fastest ships.nd that permit to annoy (in pârt) new speedy ships.
so yeah , good balancing guys

"Fixed some cases where planets can appear to be fully scanned when they haven't been." (Highlight by me)

What do you mean. Have you've fixed the problem or partially fixed the problem?

For once I can say I'm moderately impressed with the list of bug fixes actually consisting of high profile gameplay barriers. I feel Frontier still has a way to go to but I'll give some praise for finally getting rid of the F-ing heat bug.

I think its a good thing. Too much speed/reverski with dank shields to boot.

I'd rather they remove boost than force everyone to run drag munitions.

Hell, I hope they do even more changes like this and change the META completely. Kill the FDL for a while.

The FDL will cope better than most ships. Despite it's obvious boost advantages, it's less pip dependent than many ships and has solid non-boost thruster performance, with very good shields on top.

The weapon/defense 'meta' will change, but probably not in a manner that will increase diversity.

"It" will be Starfield or another competitor in the genre. Frontier has burned all their credibility in their fires of complacency and incompetency. They've completely abandoned the Playstation platform, leaving it to rot under an infestation of ever-growing bugs and issues. It'll just take one true competent competitor to their current monopoly to cause their house of bug-ridden cards to fall.

C is for cookie and cookie starts with C!

Force players to think more hahaha you fly a safe mode cutter lol

Drag Munition : Worst Idea ever. The things i loved in the PvP will immediately go to the trash can..

Balancing idea, allow this effect te be utilised ONLY on Dumbfire missiles, no seekers, no pack hounds, no frags..
Boost Disruptors on dumb fire missiles. Sounds good. More skill based. TBH, I'd move drag munitions from frag cannons to cannons. Getting the effect on you with a single pellet hit is a bit op. Cannons could use some love anyway.

It's got it's own menu on the main screen, how is that not more prominent than being buried in the codex? Drama.

That one has been there since PowerPlay was introduced, and the way things are going it'll be gone soon as well. But compare Galactic Powers to Squadrons. Squadrons tells you straight up which Squadron you're a member of. I can use that screen to verify that [Pilot] is a member of the Squadron they claim. Now try to do the same for PowerPlay. That can ONLY be done while docked. Let me show you.

Now try to find a place where you can see your commander name and which power you belong to in the same screen. I'll give you a hint - it doesn't exist. You can't even see it while docked. We used to have it listed in the picture menu I'm showing here, but it was removed because ... uhm ... yeah, I've no idea.

You may not think this is an issue, but PowerPlay requires coordination and at times coordination in secret across platforms and timezone, and the game has a number of ways to communicate with people who are pledged to your power. Unfortunately that number is 0, so it has to be done outside the game - hence the need for screen shots.

You may not think this is important, but that's because you aren't involved in PowerPlay. That's perfectly reasonable, but PowerPlay has been completely ignored by FDev for ages, and they've even removed features from the game that was important for PowerPlay (like this) but have never bothered doing anything but make it worse since about 2016. Not even in a misguided attempt at improving it as we see with PvP.

But look back at the list of stuff that's been added to the Codex. All of them are game-features - someone has pretty much gone down a list of game-activities and added them to the Codex. Except PowerPlay, and PowerPlay is the one that is in more need of explanation than anything else, but four years into PowerPlay there is STILL nothing in the game that explains it.

But sure - I'm a drama queen for bringing up FDev's complete lack of support for a feature that I've poured more than four thousand hours into.

Well the good thing with changes like this. Is the nerfing and buffing process by changing the game.
By nerfing or buffing an item, ship/character. You are able to bring other ships/items and characters into the spotlight. Also this will inherently change defensive loadouts.

They can also change ECM timers, Fix the jitter on point defense add more DMG on point defense.

This is probably the first step in a whole slew of continuous changes.

I understand this change is freaking everyone out. But this part of the game has been stale for over 2 years. Consistent changes like this or even rotating changes ever so often are needed.

It keeps the game fresh, but one thing I think Fdev doesnt do well is take into consideration ahead of time on what other changes need to be made to suit 1 specific change they make.

They arent really proactive and are more reactive in this manner.

I really do wish they would work with a few known PVPers about certain aspects of their game. A lot of these guys really do have balance over favoritism in mind.

And in the end do a handful of changes at one time and fine tune if needed. Make multiple changes and not just one drastic change when it comes to PVP.
