Notice ARX and Frontier Points Conversion

One thing I find interesting. Back on page 15, Frontier said the maximum price of a ship paint job was 5520 Arx. That's £2.76-£3.30. No paint-job costs that much currently. It would be disappointing if they were gouging the pulse paint-jobs, (currently £2) but, given that they haven't increased the price of anything else, I wonder if we are getting some new skins.
Special paintjobs, like the Golden and Chromed ones brought out at Christmas, have been priced higher than £3.

And yes I agree with you fully, but you missed my original post idea.
Sure ship kits take weeks to get and if player can not wait they can just buy them and they should.

But same time we should get the taste as we get the taste with the paintjobs. Right now we have lets say 6 paintjobs in 1 paintjob bundle and when update comes we can pick one of the paintjob out of those 6 and buy it for example. Wound't it be fair to have same system for the Ship Kits too. Rather us have that bundle we could then get lets say one kit part out of for example 20. Giving player taste... this way player if he/she really wants to fully get his ship customized with Ship kit he can just wait more ARX from the gameplay what takes indeed weeks or he just goes and buys what he/she wants.

I would definitely like the shipkit parts to be sold seperatly just like they do with the paintpacks now.
Unfortunatly that's not the case, but to say it's rediculous that it takes so many weeks to get a shipkit for free is something else imho.
They give out a max of 400 arx per week, for free, if that means you need to play for so long to get one of the most expensive items in the store then that's just that, it's still for free.

I get airmiles, they're free, do you know how long I have to save them in order to get a fully free ticket to Australia? I live in the Netherlands.

Imho you can't complain about anything you get for free unless it's the chickenpox.

Shipkits have always been sold as a pack, is that unfair now, now that they decide you can buy paints seperatly?
I don't know, I just think it's a step forward not having to buy a sixpack of paints while you're only interested in one color scheme.

Are you really so dense you didn't realize I was using the decal as an example. The problem exists for many purchases, the point is your buying more than you want because Frontier wants to scam you.
Errrmm... nope, not a scam - claiming it is such is tantamount to libel/slander.

What FD are doing with ARX is not unreasonable nor is it unprecedented in MMOs. It is no more a scam than any cosmetic store is, in fact FD go at least one better than most MMOs in that they are giving away ARX for just playing the game. With that in mind, you generally never need to buy any ARX.

The amount I'm prepared to pay for is the amount required to purchase the item I want and no more. That isn't an option. It could have been an option but Frontier wants your money now in the hopes you wont use all you bought. It's a common scam, it's pure evil.
Frontier are a company not a charity the purpose of a company is to make money legally, I doubt that given the state of the world that you would find many to support a claim that this sort of method to purchase vanity items that have no effect on the mechanics of a game is even evil let alone pure evil.

That said it would have been nice to be able to purchase an arbitrary number of Arx, but it is what it is.

All Arx supporters need to watch this video

Sadly nothing surprising, but an interesting video. Well, 'interesting' in the sense that you'll need to go scrub your body with bleach and boiling water whilst hoping all the people promoting these ideas die in a natural disaster that affects only them.

It's harmless enough to me as I don't have any compulsion to buy skins etc. (I own one decal) but its also a bit icky.

I have watched this video and to be honest, it really does not apply to the FDev store. I have no idea why you think it does. The only part that I could think applies is that we are pack/herd animals and do what others do but skins on a ship or a ship kit is a very personal thing and just because someone else has a skin does not mean that others are going to flood out a buy that skin.

To be perfectly honest I find this utter ridiculous. Its hilarious to even think this applies here. The only things I have bought on the store are things that I want, I don't give a rats backside what anyone else says. I like my Vulture ship kit, I think its great, but it does not give me any bonuses in the game, does not help with progression, does not get other people to buy it. Its utterly laughable.

Fine enjoy getting ripped off by Fdev and their chinese masters Tencent. This game is clearly dying and that's why this whole ARX nonsense is happening (to squeeze out the last remaining dollars from the player base).
Except its not dying and you are talking utter turd.

Duh. People who doesnt understand what they read..

You can get stuff free for just playing the game. What is it there you dont understand?

Have Frontier employed a fairly sophisticated system to entice players to part with real money after game purchase?

Arguably, yes. However, they didn’t invent the system, it’s not the worst one out there and more importantly, it is almost industry standard to have such a system.

Anyone who finds themselves being ‘tricked’ into spending more money on, say, ship kits, than they wanted, has far bigger problems.

It may well be a new sophisticated modern era issue of video game entertainment, getting us to spend more money but as general consumers, we are far more sophisticated.

Walk down your local high street, shop windows filled with goodies, you may from time to time impulsively run in and buy something but most times you don’t. Lets say you do. At the till, tons of little bits of merchandise decorate the queuing area, again, more enticement that most of us are able to overlook. The classic for this was sweet racks at the supermarket till, relying on kids bugging the crap out of their parents to get them a sweet.

Deals are promoted at us all the time through a myriad of different ways and we generally overcome. ARX is no different, some will buy, others won’t, on the whole I suspect the vast majority will spend less on ARX in a month than they do on coffee or cigarettes or beer or sweets or any other little treats they afford themselves.

To try to extrapolate Frontier implementing what is a fairly bog standard system into their game as the decline of the game is quite a stretch, fanciful in fact.

To say that people will somehow lose their ability control their spending takes a rather low view of the people playing the game. As I said above, if you’re susceptible to enticements, your bigger problem is going to be high streets, not ARX.

All the criticisms of ARX to play are without serious consideration

Todas las criticas a ARX por jugar y ser gratis, son sin ser consideradas serias.

Frontier Points have been a thing on console since Elite on Xbox's launch in 2015. You're about 4 years late with your outrage.

So what? I am on PC and I know that consoles are often suffering from more B S than us (see also: Microsoft and Sony subscriptions to be allowed to use the online capabilities of the console, which still boggles my mind the gaming community put up with), does not mean it is ok, ever was ok, or should be extended to PC.
