Errrm... if you want to unlock the 4E CRCR you don't need Prof. Palin for that, those are a one time unlock at a human tech broker and for that you need 16 Meta Alloys... (once)

we already know this but as a point of confirmation. found 2 drives in cojico cloud in short order where I spent a long time at hadad to find nothing.

How do you make the new drives? Do you take the TDC to the normal drive engineer? I've just returned after a break and I've picked up a TDC but now I don't know what to do with it.
Go to any human tech broker (except one at a rescue megaship). You will need a few other materials including Propulsion Elements (also found at dead Titan sites).
Thanks, do we know how long the corpse will be ripe? I don't have any caustic resistant cargo slots, do you think it's worth farming those beforehand, or just repair each time I have to dock, do you think?
I would get the corrosion resistant cargo racks, otherwise you risk losing cargo. Titan wreck loot diminishes over time so this first week Cocijo will have the most in it, then progressively less as time goes on. I think it reaches its lowest point when caustic fully dissipates, but haven’t paid further attention.
I participated in the CG and received my pre-engineered SCO FSDs. If I want more do I need to pay the mats per drive, or can I just buy more.
I feel kinda dopey because I thought I'd need to have the full mat set per drive. I went out, farmed up the mats, and am sitting in Hutner in Luyten's, and there does not seem to be an unlock /purchase option. I currently have a 5A pre-engineered SCO on the ship docked at Hutner.
EDIT: I went the the Human Tech Broker in Altair, and the per unit drive unlocks were available there.

Material Trader probably would have worked faster in the short term.
I just traded for Tellurium in 61 Cygni. Now I have to go get some propulsion elements.
You are correct about there being one in Altair, but if you’re planning to go with more than one drive component per ‘run’, I would really recommend taking a corrosion resistant rack. Even if it’s just one of the tiny ones Palin offers, or the C4 unlock.
(They really should make the C6 more generally available as well but at the same time it’s a rather niche module, so…)
Or visit one of the crashed Anacondas such as the one in Orrere 2B. Ruthenium, tellurium and more.
true. I have been there but (it's weird I know) but to get enough there you have to relog. I hatr doing that it totally breaks the 4th wall for me so would rather visit a shard site where I can (almost) totally fill my bags in 1 go.
it's a good suggest however for those happy to relog.
