Be honest everyone. Who will most likely purchase the Python MkII..?

I'll wait and see what's the deal with the Python mk2 - if i like it and i decide i cannot wait 3 months, i will get it.
If not, i can certainly find a better use for the ARX i stashed

The Type 8? Well, if it's slightly bigger type 7, then I think I'll leave it.

Hmm, i think i may get one if it's slightly smaller (not larger) than the T-7 and it fits on medium pads

It's been such a long time that I've felt the urge to play The Shippy McShipface game, that this might pull me back for a while.

The thargoid thing left me utterly cold. New ships and planets/biomes however very much interest this Cmdr.

Hooray for everything \o/... as 'someone' is wont to say.....

Never been a particular fan of the Python anyway. Will buy one with credits in August (i think) and have a look.

that's an interesting point. aside from the T-6 and chieftain prebuilds.
1. Will these new variant ships have a prebuild aspect to them?
2. Will they have a normal or discounted rebuy ? Compared to the later in-game purchase?
3. Or, most likely I think. just a standard rated ship with normal rebuy costs, as it's purely just simply early access.
They've said that there will be a pre-build Python 2 available (and no reason to believe it won't be free rebuy if you don't change the modules, like the others)

Whether the early access payment comes with the pre-build, or that's a separate option, could be read either way.

I picked the game back up about a month ago mainly to sate my desire to fly spaceships, but also to catch up on some Thargoid content as well as anticipation of new ships. I don’t have enough ARX saved up and I‘ll sooner put the game down to come back post paywall than buy ARX to access a ship. I put this game down for months when I’d love to be playing it due to the realities of my life, so I’ll certainly have no issue shelving it if the pay to avoid delay model leaves me wanting.

Well, the standard Python is a real workhorse - on each account i have at least 2, usually 3
The Python is the best ship in its class at least in the sense that it has, by far, the most module space for a medium-sized ship. So, for example, for cargo transport missions where you require a medium-sized ship (because the outpost doesn't have a large landing pad), it's the best option.

I haven’t used my ARX in ages so have more than enough to get one and still have plenty left over. However, I think I’ll wait. Purely due to having a very busy summer work wise leaving me a couple of weeks in May where I may get some time to play…so it makes sense to wait and get it with credits in August.

I‘m trying to ignore it as much as possible as I have plenty of ideas around what I’d like the MkII to be but know it’ll be something entirely different.

I have much more in free Arx than costs the Python 2, thus:
  • If the purchase is for early Shipyard access for me to proceed to buy with Credits as many Python 2s as I please, I lean towards yes, although unlike other starships I am conscious about being unable to sell the access again if I dislike it. The reason to avoid it will be if other Commanders have found it to be awful!
  • If the purchase is for one Python 2 directly, almost certainly no. The reason to buy it will be if it does something very specifically better than my present fleet which gives an advantage I need immediately!
For example, if its cargo space is divided across a dozen class 4 module slots then I would buy it immediately due to the corrosive cargo advantage, even if the purchase is for just one of them. That may be an unrealistic example due to the incredibly tough hull build it would enable, but something such as that would have to be the case.

New ships don't get me that excited tbh.
They do me.

I'll let the foibles get worked out by the eager masses and at some point pick one up in game.
The trouble is they will come up with some dull meta build so niche that it is of no real use in 90% of the game.

I'd much rather spend ARX on a remote Carrier Refueling "machine".
Not interested.

And Binoculars.
But this is way up in the take my money now list!

I don't think I'll buy it. If I buy it then I won't have enough ARX for when Panther Clipper LX hits with an EA period of 6 months for 32500 ARX.

Reverse FOMO FTW.
But if you get one early you will be able to earn more free Arx to pay for going PC.

Probably not, I can wait. On the other hand, I'd pay for this in a jiffy:
