Absolutely agreed. What Captain Kremmen said about the development process is probably all true and valid - hard to say without an official word from the developers themselves - but there seems to be a severe underestimation about how much damage the graphics bug can do to the success of Elite: Dangerous.

Most of the other problems are only experienced by beta players right now and will most certainly be fixed before the official release. But screenshots pop up all over the place and can be seen by everyone OUTSIDE the beta. Future potential customers. With the bug existing for 2 weeks now, the amount of screenshots on the net displaying the bug increases and increases to a disproportionate amount compared to those showing the correct graphics.

What's worse: as I've seen on the forum and on Youtube videos myself, some beta participants aren't even aware of the issue and don't seem to notice for some reason. They don't even mention with one word that the graphics don't look like they are supposed to when posting screenshots and videos. When potential customers see that material they will most certainly be put off ED. Whether we want it or not, graphics are a very important factor these days.

Captain Kremmen said "selling the game on Youtube doesn't count". Well, I strongly disagree. You may close your eyes to the issue and pretend that it doesn't exist, but I assure you, the results are quite real and I'm getting worried. If you don't believe me google the crapstorm that Gearboxes "Aliens: Colonial Marines" experienced with its perception of graphics.

Talk about a storm in a teacup. Graphics matter a lot less than you may think these days. Most users (read gamers in general not the limited population of dedicated over zealous beta testers) don't understand half of what's going on with graphics in the first place.

And let me just suggest that if your reasoning made any sense the company should be much more worried about beta testers setting graphics setting to their lowest and publishing that as in game footage or pictures. Surely if graphics matter so much that should be a worry for FD.

You unfortunately sound like someone that rates graphics very highly, is duly concerned about this bug but is blowing everything out of proportion because you lack perspective on the issue you are commenting on.

Now I have fast loading into open play, <10 seconds. Supercruise works fine again. But hyperspace is still laggy, blurry and endless. Aww. After 2 minutes, I am spit out to a black screen. Mouse pointer works, but no menu. Kill process, relog. When clicking "open play" -> "Could not connect to server". Second try works. Again, fast!

Repeat, same pattern again.

Repeat, same pattern again, but hyperspace is truly endless this time.

I relog this time into solo. Still the first "could not connect to server", then I am in within two seconds. Hyperjump works here.

Ticket screen says it is a known issue, so I do not do another ticket. Just to let you know that situation improved partially, but still not back to the level I had pre 2.04.

Missiles no lock?

ok, I am not sure, but I think the missiles are not really locking on to anything. I have just finished some combat in the eranin 2 combat zone and every time I fired a missile I had a direct line of sight and direct shot at my target, once even right on top of him and it seems like my missiles just passed right through his ship. I have seen this several times now and I do not know if I am just not using them right or if I am suffering from a bug here but right now my missiles have proved quite useless.:S

fullscreen support

still no love for those of us with GeForce GTX 8xx series cards and unable to run ED in fullscreen mode?

C'mon guys, this is a real pain and makes it difficult to evaluate the rest of the game. Any eta on a fix? Beta 3 maybe?

Just managed to get about 90 minutes on 2.06 this evening.

Very impressed, not a single crash or freeze.

Great update guys.

Sytx system

Sytx system is a problem with me at the moment.
Cannot dock with windgrove platform keep timing out when trying to request docking. Also when leaving the system it get stuck in hyperspace.

I'm sure ED will sort things out. I'm still enjoying the game very much.:)

Official Word from hchalkley , a senior developer on ED and the guy behind the netcode.

Module Power Distribution priority:
  1. Bugs blocking play
  2. Improving multiplayer
  3. Everything else

Thanks!

Yes, of course I rate graphics very highly in a game that I play solely to fly around in the beauty of space. I don't care about amassing virtual money, that's just a side effect of the main game: space flight. That's why my signature includes a beautiful planet and a starscape and not a credit balance printout. :D

Yes having similar problem especially with time critical jobs, this was particularly bad with beta 2.5..

Note to self:
Don't go near Styx i Beta 2.06.

>.<

Otherwise, great job! Everything seems pretty smooth. I haven't encountered major bug in a week. (Which probably means that I don't do my job properly. :p )

Downloaded quickly and didn't have to re-enter all my key bindings on my controllers. Of special note, able to leave the dock without crashing or my ships taking off backwards and crashing. Also, able to select and return for a tenuous at best but successful docking (my first, woohoo). I still need to work on finding good key bindings for the forward/backward thrust for docking. Tried to engage in single ship combat. Wow, not like X-wing - a lot harder. I need to find a comfortable dead zone so I can keep from over correcting when I turn.

Any tips to combat would be helpful.

Hi, Cyber. Well, the best advice for a successful combat is buying a decent joystick (HOTAS) >.<
Other than that, it's pretty much a classic dogfight. If it has lasers up front, get behind it. If it has turrets all around the hull, run like hell, and everytime it gets into your crosshair, shoot. XD
Eagles will try to get behind you, Vipers will run away from you, then turn and try to take you head on, Cobras are crazy with all their deadly stuff in surprising places, Haulers and Lacons are prey (don't get in front of Type 9, though) and Anacondas, well. ahem...
Okay, enough of OT. :p

I mapped them to the numeric key pad.
Fwd/Back 8, 2
Left/Right 4, 6
Up/down 7, 1
All stop 5.

I close the throttle after entering the station, deploy the landing gear, and fly on thrusters to the pad.

I also saw a bug or 2 at styx wingrove lately. The last was when I was docking and I could not land while facing the tower but had to face the opposite way from it. It was a landing pad very close to the entrance of the station.

I say it all the time but I'll say it again, you guys set the standard for customer relations and reacting to bug reports.

Many thanks for renewing my faith in the PC gaming scene.

Has anyone taken a mission to find that the station you're supposed to deliver to doesn't exist?

I've done a scan of the system and checked out any "unknown" planets etc but not found the station... and I'm sure it's happened more than once now in different systems.

This happened to me in Beta 2.05 but I cant remember which system at the moment.
