Game Discussions Bethesda Softworks Starfield Space RPG

The real good thing about that is theres a lot of real estate there for modders to plonk down their own settlements without fear of clashing with another modders work.

How is that an issue?
It's a solo game, you decide what mods (if any) you will install - i personally, i'm quite against the mods since i usually like to play the game as the developer/designer intended

Full planet exploration without a vehicle takes too long lol.
I'm going to explore a large area around my landed ship. Back to my ship either walk, jetpack or teleport. Fly to space then back to the planet but in a totally different place. Explore some more. This is completely off the wall and never been done before I know, but I'm an explorer. It's what we do.

Because sometimes you want to have multiple mods running, and they clash due to geographic issues.

To be honest, I don't care about a few second stutter or a loading screen.

Give me a STORY. Something to become embroiled in. I want to feel like I am the hero. Let me play it again and again and fail or succeed, find the erorrs of my ways...

[puts 48K Elite into ZX Spectrum and presses 'load ""'' and then 'play'... Pilot launching - see you in the stars, suckers!]

If the execution of the exploration FEELS like small limited landing locations (due to cutscenes up and down), even if it's not, is it really any better than actually having small limited landing locations?

I guess we'll see.

Some people already have the Xbox game disc. That's why they're playing early.

Since we can walk across whole planets, that would depend on the diversity of the environments. It looks a lot better than the barren landscapes of ED planets. SF will probably have many "empty-ish" worlds. However, the geographical details, real-time global illumination (and anti-aliasing), and the occasional flora and fauna are multiple tiers higher than ED.

It seems copies of the physical constellation package were sent out too early by certain suppliers or resellers or are being supplied as included game bundles with an Xbox series X purchase from certain retailers...hence why a few non sanctioned spoiler playthroughs are appearing on YouTube...happens I suppose, muppets being muppets and all that. All in all, the amateur spoiler footage filmed from a random hophead's out of focus iPhone isn't of any great interest for most of us. 🤷‍♂️

I might be moving to an apartment with better electrical service. Then I can get a proper PC rig to run all these hyped titles...
I know this isn't really the place for the conversation...but doesn't your VA help out with stuff like that? I know our lot over here will step in and move mountains to make sh*t happen if required...sending a broken faced retired Gunny or two to instruct 'persuade' some local authority or amenities supplier on how the world should work in real time for retired vets usually works out pretty good.

I know when I helped out with our veteran's organisation doing exactly that very thing...I usually left some distraught beancounter's office with a briefcase full of signed paperwork and a set of house keys 🤷‍♂️

The VA in the United States seems to be more interested in 'woke' at the moment instead of actually helping us vets, unfortunately. My experience though, YMMV.
Having spent practically my entire adult life in the armed forces, when I first heard the term 'woke', I naively assumed it meant something good or positive had suddenly 'woken up' in folks for the betterment of our species.

Apparently not... It seems instead that society as a whole has been sucked into a dark nightmare from a different dimension so utterly devoid of empathy, compassion, good manners, good humour, common courtesy or common sense that it's become a parody of itself
