Game Discussions Bethesda Softworks Starfield Space RPG

I just started my first NG+ play. Kinda fun stumbling back into situations I'd not seen since I started my save a year ago.

Even with those similarities... Things are more changed, than the same. There were NPCs I never talked to, quests I skipped in my first play. Following a completely different path has been good so far.

Mmm. That's interesting as I restarted with a new character without completing the final quest. Was playing yesterday and thinking it was a bit boring repeating everything.

I made the mistake doing a full playthrough on my first iteration , I then did the pirates and Genghis Kahn. I've done the full 10NG and enjoyed the different POI of shattered space. But once finished I put it down and will keep a eye out for "new" stuff but I won't rush back to the game . Not even sure if I would waste any more money on the game .

Yes, after 9 years of playing ED I enjoyed the Starfield quests and dialogue, but thinking it might be time I ought to look for another game.

Edit: anyone tried Spacebourne 2?
Edit2: thought about putting Dune onto my xmas list, but now looking like a 2025 release date

Oh well, the game broke for me again. The implementation of creations ingame is still very very broken. I've switched over to Nexus with all my mods that exist there as well and deleted the subscriptions to the creations I no longer want on the creation website. That should have been updated in the game as well, but didn't. Additionally the game keeps deactivating mods and sometimes just crashing. I'll stop playing again.

To be truthful I haven't been on since I finished shattered space. I've had a good few hours in game so it wasn't a waste but you could half that time with the amount of waiting or sleeping .

Well, I fixed the problem. Lost a convenience mod, but other than that I'm good to go. And the mod update I'm waiting for to get my cruiser rebuilt is just around the corner.

How hard is it to mod Starfield?
I have an idea to create an internal weapon mod to change the ammo it uses. I've picked up so much 6.5mm when I need 7.77mm.

I own Spacebourne 2 since 6+- months ago and put a couple hundred hours into it before I quit playing (waiting for new updates that look interesting). SB2 has a lot of potential but its a long way off from being semi-finished. You can see some of my posts in its thread on this forum (mostly pretty pictures).
Its a fun game if you can overlook the EA "features" ... bugs, jankiness, etc. I think its still around $15 and it gets regular updates.

I also DL'd Starship Simulator and its a free EA game that is fun and very different from SB2. Its less finished than SB2 but has some nice features plus it has a fairly realistic depiction of the Milky Way Galaxy to navigate around, but there's no planetary landing (its planned but not there yet).

If you're familiar with previous Bethesda games modding, you'll feel almost at home. There's some more nesting of effects and modules, but overall it's not too dissimilar to previous games. There are some small changes, like only using ESM (Master) files, instead of ESP (Plugins), but it's all in the documentation.

Obviously bear in mind there is no CreationKit2 yet, so you have to use xEdit tool.

I'll look into it when I have time. The only other Bethesda game I've playe was Fallout Shelter, so, no experience with modding for their games.

Here's a good initial guide for it https://stepmodifications.org/wiki/Guide:XEdit (used to be part of STEP crew, good old days :D )

Just remember that each Beth game has it's own version of xEdit tool, hence the x, as it represents a wildcard, so you have FO4Edit for Fallout 4, SSEEdit for Skyrim Special Edition and so on. Starfield is SF1Edit.

Whats the difference between the CreationKit2 and the Creation Kit that (as far as I know) is currently available?

It's the new version of their engine. SF is the first game made in Creation Engine 2.

Creation Kit (now 2) is the tool, pretty much in engine editor - actually really cool! - that Bethesda releases for modders to use.

I doubt that it's as advanced as their internal tools, but it's very powerful one, that allows for entire new games to be created, not to mention DLC size mods like Falskaar.

Whole community is waiting for them to finally release CK2!

Now I'm really getting confused: As far as I can tell it has been released. Back in June https://store.steampowered.com/app/2722710/Starfield_Creation_Kit
