BGS changes: Learnings/Issues/comments

what will that mean for active conflicts?

were planning on the basis that any pending/ongoing conflicts will disappear on the 11th and operations have been designed accordingly. Unfortunately I couldn't tell what date the initial beta info was from to confirm. Should be an interesting first tick.

And an interesting first week. My suspicion is that the entire BGS will go BOINK and forum popcorn sales will skyrocket. But then they'll sort it and things will calm down and everyone will get used to the new reality.

Your assumption is good as I assume happiness will not work as planned from start and might create issues. Especially if it has this decay system.
Anarchy faction are going to have a tougher work.

Based on latest stream, all states will be set to none besides expansion (at least they’ ll try).

The BGS on Tues and for a long time after is going to be like trying to untangle a plate of spaghetti using only your forehead.

Yes and I believe FDev may have started to change the BGS progressively as well as moving missions to new dedicated server b/c some of us have noticed anomalies in game.

shameless cross-post, I'm in the same boat, sorta. Our expansion is going to start before 3.3, and is due to finish sometime after the drop.

All I know is all states are being set to None. Whether that's a hard-set where it's just "current state of galaxy but everything is None" or it actually resolves any existing expansion states, I'm not sure.

Quoting myself for context, but looks like my expansion will be superseded by a conflict at the next tick, before the update rolls out. So I guess I'll be able to see if a conflict rolls out. It's handy anyway, it's going to be a war state, so there goes the collateral :)

Yup, noticed that as well last night when we were trying to run some influence missions in our home station.

Can confirm, some of the BGS changes have *definitely* been staged.

My faction is now pending conflict in multiple systems, which would be "legit" only if multiple conflicts were possible.

Data is entirely ineffective too

What do you mean exactly by that?

I'm aware of reports of massive swings and the various "frozen BGS" comments, but so far the influence fluctuations in the couple-dozen systems I monitor have been within expectations. Like I said in the bugreport elsewhere, not trying to say there's not issues, only on the surface they don't seem to be global issues.

EDIT: So, after the last tick, I'm in active Expansion globally, war still pending in another system, and currently in an Election state in another system.

Cheers, yep, I figured as much.
So this morning, before the servers went offline, I confirmed that a system and primary asset had xferred to my faction overnight as today is the 4th day of an active war. So I am very curious to see tonight of that sticks and the asset stays where it is, or reverts as this war is not officially over (but is indeed over from a BGS perspective since the asset changed hands...).
Interesting times!

On a day where huge swing were occuring, a data only input to a faction had no effect at all, whilst in the neighbouring system a single 5 point mission gave a 10 point gain

before panic sets in (well... more panic) it would appear that FDEV have turned the BGS up to 11 over the past while to test some new features before 3.3 goes live and it will not be so at launch.

/end optimism
//initiate patch launch procedure

Curls into protective ball, rocks slightly and makes soothing noises.

Out in Colonia some systems had huge swings on minimal traffic while others (which normally have significant traffic) didn't move at all, so it might not just be data that didn't work in that system: it could just be that nothing worked that tick, or it wasn't updated that tick and will catch up later.

Hmm.

War, Civil War and Election states are now a 7 day conflict, where players engage in activities (such as winning conflict zones in War and Civil War states) and attempt to beat their opponents

Guess we'll see now if resolving Conflict Zones actually has an impact now, compared to bond transactions.

Fingers crossed - that was the satted situation at the start of Beta and also the end of Beta when we were encouraced to retest

... and going into 3.3, we're global Expansion, and no war/election active or pending.

Also, point of feedback I made in Beta, but still relevant.

Faction Summary page really needs to show influence of all factions, not just your squadrons.

And finally, missions to destroy emplacements/scan towers in fixed bases are not just for Anarchy factions. Antagonism ++!
