Big Elite Streamers Giving Up On Streaming Elite?

It's ironic because yamicks was refused the Odyssey key, and treated like trash by everyone for being "negative". And he is still there, while people who were gifted a free key and a box full of goodies, even a station, have diminished their amount of content about ED, or even left.
He was abusive towards them, not "negative". They politely said no thanks when he asked for a freebie, a freebie that he didn't need, just like OA and others who had bought it themselves.

And he then created the drama and got the clicks.

It was a fine effort.

You missed the point if the mods are just normal players and have to abide by the same rules he shouldn't be talking about moderation with other people ...also those people were not warned.
The only thing a Mod doesn't do is moderate in a thread they are posting in except in exceptional circumstances. As far as I read in the discussion, posters were being made aware of the rules.

You would not have been moderated by that mod, but by another as the information given was being ignored.

Lol what ? He was refused the key. Fdev said he was not doing "constructive feedback" or something. OA and other had one for free, which is standard in the industry BTW.
They also had a station and a box full of goodies.

And anyway, it's still very ironic that he is still there, while a lot of the others have jumped ship or greatly diminished their coverage for elite.

Well 'ironically' out of all those mentioned, Yamiks is the most interested in FPS.

But there is only so much content in, do this, again and again, and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again..

And that is what Odyysey is. And delivered very badly.
FD did not even try to leverage what they had to make the FPS more Elite like which makes me saddest of all.

Yamicks have said multiple time that Odyssey FPS doesn't hold a candle compared to others FPS.That's not what interest him in ED.
Contrary to what most people think, he actually love Elite.
Bally well said old bean, what what

You get a 👍from me for a well worded and concise answer.

I am not the biggest fan of Yamiks but I do respect his valid position to level criticism.

Tatty bye

I mean, we have established bases with parts we know that if we destroy / hack other things switch off.

We have infinite terrain.

We have radar, base defences.

So why not combine them all?

Base defences can be telepresenced.

Radar is a set height / scan radius so you can fly under it.

Skimmers look for people on the roof.

Base guns have power that needs defending.

Bases have SLF launchers to telepresence into.

Be able to telepresence into skimmers.

This would allow bases to be attacked in different ways based on where they are (flat terrain is hard, but can I fly near under the radar?). Defenders can use what that base has to fight off heavy opponents, or go on foot and defend strategic points like power generators, radar etc.

I had these ideas in ten minutes, and frankly sounds hugely better than take and old glowy area alpha.

The impression was that his presentation style and use of profanities (among other theatrical devices) were the principal reason why Frontier might not wish to be interpreted as being supportive of.

Well, as one of his viewers bought the key for him, he probably feels obliged to give £40 (or local equivalent) of value back...

It may also be, that despite the 'image' and ranting, that he really likes ED ;)

Sounds well thought out, interesting and fun. Obviously Elite will never be like this.

Their design philiosphy is give players the absolute bare minimum, then abandon it forever and begin work on the next stripped down, bare bones minimalist feature.

Its just so frustrating when those mechanics already exist in the game.

sigh I guess you reap what you sow, and in this case FD got caught out badly.

Good.
Hopefully that will mean less relogging, farming and 'fastest way to...' guides, and therefore far less complaints from followers of these guides about the self-inflicted grind
ya..soooo...you think less people playing a MP game with cash shop, and DLC for sale is "good?" Hopefully you arent this out of touch with reality. If you enjoy the game, more players, means more money for Development of said game. smh. I could go on...but why?

You think getting rid of helpful guides to help you through the grind will alleviate complaints on the grind?? Say what. And the grind is self-inflicted?? Out of all the gaming communities I'm a part of this one really is quite delusional.

The thing about Yamiks is (and this applies to me as well and almost every malcontent long time player, including the OP), he loves the game. Everything he says is from a position of wanting it to be better than it is - because it can be. Because we were sold on the vision, and of what E: D ought to be considering its setting. Everything about that says it should be the 'forever game'.

So when it falls short, as it so often has (not just with Odyssey, although that's brought everything into sharper focus), it's not being "negative". It's not even meant to be antagonistic, and certainly not nasty. I'm personally done with offering free suggestions for Frontier's hubris to ignore, nor do I file bug reports or do the work for them. They are (or were) a billion $ company, they can afford to pay people to do that kind of work.

But I still love Elite. As does Yamiks. He speaks for the Disappointed That Still Care. 🤷‍♀️

Sadly, the vision that players have for what the game might be, is not the vision that Frontier has for their game, it will be whatever they decide - for good or bad.
Odyssey has released in a dreadful state and looks like it will remain that way for some time. I'm OK, able to play and enjoy the DLC even if the frame rate is considerably lower than Horizons. Also, maybe only playing for a little over 4 years means that all I see is a game, I have no 'vision' for what it could be, just see what I have. It is just another game in my library, one I have enjoyed since starting to play, and, the same as many other players, have winced through the bugged updates and just enjoyed myself doing things that interest me. I am extremely selfish that way!

I'm certain Yamicks loves the game and wishes it was whatever his vision for it might be. (as do you!)
Me, I'm a realist, I play what I'm given, and if I don't like it, I'll not play it.

I 100% get where you're coming from. And I agree to a certain point, but there's never going to be a "forever game". Elite Dangerous was/is always going to be something that would last for a while, then start getting things bolted to it, upgraded here and there, things replaced when bits fell off, that sort of thing. The issue gets compounded when you have a passionate community that revolves around it, all claiming that certain features and content was "vital" when in reality meant that it was vital to them. Inevitably not every one of those can be included, and in an effort to please as many as possible, the ones that do get included are often bodge jobs and not what people wanted/expected.

This is not an excuse for what Odyssey currently is, its not me saying we should be happy with it or accept it, but this was always going to happen. Star Citizen, to an extent, avoids it because... well, it doesn't actually exist yet, being in a constant state of alpha. (How would ED players react if every year or so their inventories and credit balances were wiped back to the start, or instead of having a galaxy to play in they had one system? Is that a trade we'd make for "proper space legs" or better framerates?) X4 looks great (I've bought it but haven't played it yet) but its the fourth release in a series - a new game each time.

That's where I fear ED is. In hindsight, I think Odyssey was a bridge too far. What LIKELY should have happened is that Odyssey should have been a brand new game, call it Elite Deadly or whatever, built from scratch from the ground up engineered for today's equipment (not PCs from 2014 when we all started in here), while ED Horizons/Beyond kept going as-is with a notice that support for it would end a year after Odyssey's release.
