The Real Doom is the clear and present danger of nuclear war in real life terms, but here we are arguing about a speculative takeover from a company that is based in a nuclear super power or a company that's based in a country that wants to make the whole world a communist's paradise.

We are forbidden to discuss real world politics.

Far easier to take the mickey over a game and enjoy the 'fallout' from silly comments than to actually be bothered, here, by fallout of a nuclear variant.

The off topic forum might permit that sort of discussion though.

I'm not so sure. I'd think a buyout from MS and Sony, like in the article I posted, would bring a reinvigoration to the game. The article seemed positive about it.

But think what they could do - they have vr interests, and they will definitely bring the game to consoles, which is so overdue it has become ridiculous.

They could be open to all sorts of things too that we have complained about for so long - things like going back to the ADS, making it possible to buy engineered modules, and other things like sorting out all the travel restrictions on fleet carriers.

Hell man, you have to really open your mind here - I find it disturbing how many members are such pessimists. This buyout is a huge opportunity - they could reach around these problems and put a console release out in two weeks, looking at their track record.

Think of the potential sales - we're talking tens of millions of consolers that have been betrayed, and repeatedly blown off by FD.

Let's stop this flaccid behaviour now, and support the Sony MS buyout, for everyone's sake.

I applaud your optimism Mr Hat, especially in a thread with DOOM in the title (thanks to Mr Rat). At this point in time there are too many unknowns for me to get a warm fuzzy about any transaction. Will be interesting to see what transpires.

Join in the satire (which, in truth this thread was created to be) and be outrageously imaginitive, tell obvious and blatant lies and couch them in terms that will bring a small amount of amusement to anyone noticing that this thread is supposed to embody the apathy currently reigning over both game and forum!

It is a well-developed sense of the ridiculous though - an essential quality needed for browsing this forum (and another game one I visit on occasion) without becoming utterly exasperated by the lack of what was once called "common-sense" but probably has a more "woke" description these days.

Well it is pretty gloomy around here these days, but not having played ED for a couple of weeks while doing work, it is a mighty fine game once you get back, even if you just stroll around looking at the eye candy. Credit to the devs.

Not sure what you mean by that, Tencent own less than Ten(per)Cent according to this, as such I wouldn't be certain if that gives them any right to do anything, unless I'm missing something?

Judging by quite a few avatars in here, I could see that being positively welcomed, especially incorporated into holo-me.. maybe this is the side hustle that FDev needs to get on board with for that extra sweet Arx income...

Something will happen at some point. Until then, all we can do is either be patient and let FDev decide to communicate about ED or move on.

Yeah, I should probably get round to removing that VR tag

I was miffed at the time as all I wanted to do was stand on a planet and be able look directly upwards. The over the shoulder camera workaround works allows for it (just) and as exploration is my primary interest it works well.

No interest at all in the FPS elements but I am getting into exobiology on my slow trek to Colonia.
