Buckyball Run 9: Move 'em out, let it roll!

Afraid I'm down as a DNF. Did one run and got interdicted by pirates, second run was just a mess. Third run went really well and I was hoping for a decent time. Landed, hit F10 to screenshot and went to screenshots folder to calculate my time as I'd lost track of my starting time during the quarter of an hour of watching my ship bake. :D Discover that although the screengrab of the outfitting screen which I took right before launch is there, neither the screengrab with my start time nor the one with my end time are there. I have no idea why and I definitely didn't forget to take them since I went to the folder right after hitting the key to take the finishing one. Not at all happy but I just can't face doing a fourth run, I think three return trips across populated space is enough for me today.

Enjoyed the challenge of building the ship and making the runs though and I guess that's what's important here. Hopefully it can at least go down as a learning experience for the next one.

For anybody who's wondering what to do next, you have less than a week to wait:

Keep checking buckyballracing.org.uk for the link when full details are announced.

Hey ElectricZ, I didn't realise what a gentleman you are. You were awfully polite when we were side by side. "After you" it seemed you were saying time and again ;) ;)

awesome maneuver from the cmdr in the front spot right at 21:00:00. wasn't aware that this is possible at all. :D

Haha... Would be very impressive indeed if it was possible. :D (I'm afraid it's actually a glitch :p)

Anyway, I thought I'd have one more stab at Open Unlimited, and... I mean, cookiehole's time was fast, but........ nah I'm kidding, no way I was catching that :D
I have managed to nudge up a few positions on the board nonetheless :)

The roll thing? Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's a glitch. The interesting thing is I've seen it before, and it's always an Asp that does it.

I've just made a last minute submission of the correct time for my previous run (took the screenshot seconds later my actual touchdown)...if everything is in order I should end with a 16:16, exactly in the same spot as cmdr Cheetah (I'll gladly leave to him the place ahead of me though, he submitted that time first after all)...and this seems like I've hit the ceiling of what I could achieve with the yellow bug...it jumps far, it cools fast, but its scooping capacity is excruciating!

I hope to see another event with a Hauler/Cobra or similar dedicated class in the future, those ships are a treat to take around in a hurry :)

Great fun with this race, thank you ElectricZ and everyone involved for setting it up!

Oh, and sorry Raiko, I saw your message when I was in another system already! ;)

So I had time to make another run before the end, but I messed up lots of things (and still finished a couple of seconds faster). If only I'd had time for a few more attempts - the curse of a busy weekend though!

I had a great time again, many thanks to ElectricZ and Bucky for organising the race. :)

It's the Buckyball way! :D

Sorry I missed the second live race. Just made a last minute run with the pictures uploading now. This time Void Insurance was in much more of a race trim so a much better time of 19:27. I could have pushed it a bit harder but I was trying to arrive with 100% hull. Unfortunately an incident with a black Clipper in the toast rack at Obsidian Orbital did more than scratch the paintwotk.

Insanephoton, getting in with the buzzer-beater! Started 15 minutes before midnight, finished just a hair after. I'm going to have to redo Unlimited Open just because of you, but seeing as how you halved your time I'm happy to do it. Buckle up, Buckyballers! Your Big Board update is coming in the next few minutes. Commentary by our ace race reporting staff might come a bit later after all the numbers are in... Stay tuned!

Find out what was the most popular ship flown in BBR9! Spoiler alert!
It's the Asp. Duh!

Summary to follow tonight or tomorrow... In the mean time, the after party is in full swing on the Shotgun Shine! The Portside Bar is open, with CMDR Mirana Ortilano and the staff pouring all the drinks and serving all the food you could ask for. In the starboard cargo hold, the dance floor is lit and the DJ serving up the beats.

As usual, feel free to post videos and share stories about the race as we tally the final scores, safe in the knowledge that the winners of this latest Buckyball will be footing the bill... :D

My time from last night (18:08) that's in Hauler Open was actually supposed to be in Hauler Solo. :)

As always, thanks for the event!

I tried to slip in a last second hauler run to knock cookiehole outa first, but unfortunately i was late getting off work and the clock had just ticked over when i landed at Garden Enterprise to start my hauler run :(

oh well, it probably wouldn't have been as interesting as my first one.

it was a joy flying with you guys, even if work prevented me from participating in either live run.

can't wait for the next one :D

Had a lot of fun with this one. Can't believe I didn't participate in a BBR before...
I'm quite satisfied I reached the highest possible place with my ship and skill. With more runs I might've shaved some time off but there's no way I would have done it 5 minutes faster.
Next time I'll probably try to get a little more competitive and use a ship that actually allows me to get into the higher ranks. ;)

Great event Ez thanks for all the updates and hosting. lets not make it 6 month's till the next one ;)
well done to all those that took part and congrats to the winners.
Back to smuggling rares and looking for a good place to have a buggyball for me.
until the next one cheers.. lavian brandy and a kamitra cigar anyone?

I'd chuckle at the spell-checking underlines, but frankly I'd have trouble with "Alvin Hphwayuo" too :D

Congrats to Cookiehole, KliggJR and Cheetah, and nice job to everyone - wherever you are on the board, you're slowly but surely becoming a better pilot as a result :)
As always, thank you very much to ElectricZ and Bucky for running these. They're always excellent fun, and it's great to see the official Runs back!

I might put my final Asp run up later on, but I suspect it's this one that people will be wanting to see...
Open Play / Hauler - 15:21

For reference, my 17-jump Hauler route (which amusingly was also my Unlimited route in the Asp):
  • HIP 78136 - Garden Enterprise
  • HIP 79138 (fuel 44-55%)
  • Garuttii (fuel 43-57%)
  • Scorpii Sector DG-X b1-0 (fuel 42-83%)
  • Ghimal
  • L 268-67
  • Terravor (fuel 42-74%)
  • LHS 1504 (fuel 44-55%)
  • LTT 11159 (fuel 43-65%)
  • Cocontae
  • HIP 17962 (fuel 43-74%)
  • Arietis Sector DQ-Y c16 (fuel 40-97%)
  • Arietis Sector IB-X b1-3 (unscoopable, fuel 76-89%)
  • Hyades Sector DL-Y d39 (fuel 44-57%)
  • Aries Dark Region LS-S b4-1 (fuel 44-61%)
  • Pleiades Sector YF-N b7-3
  • HIP 17704 (fuel 45-50%)

There was, ah, quite a bit of fuel management. :p
