Hope mjmw managed to finish.

<Waves from Sag A*>

Luckily, no server problems for me and the weather is great here - just the right amount of hard radiation :D

For those that are interested in times...

Drakhyr was right, who needs an Anaconda? :D

So, with a mild case of deja-vu, over to you Raiko... ;)

Well done, that's a great time! o7

I'm not sure if I can match you and Drakhyr, but I'll give it a shot. This weekend is looking unlikely for me now, but I think that I can still fit in a run before Buckyball 8. :)

Had to abort with 9k left. I encountered what I think was a pulsar and a white star together (I think there might have been a couple more) and ended up escaping with 320% heat and 35% hull integrity - too risky to continue now.

Servers are really slow and stuttering now too, which they were when I ran into the pulsar so it could have contributed. Pretty scary all told! Now the long haul back home
I'm more impressed by your survivability! Sorry to hear you had to abort though.

Revising my entry:

CMDR: Andrew Dermott
Ship: Asp Explorer
Ship Name: Uisce Beatha

Was previously planning to make my run in a DB Scout, but the recent exploration shindig sponsored by Sirius was an unexpected windfall.
Leaving as soon as my new baby gets out of the shop.

First long-range hall. Wish me luck, gentleman.

Ouch, well done for surviving that! Fly safe home CMDR.

Enjoy, and fly safe CMDR :)

Good luck man!

Beginning the long run home - though the servers seem to fail at random times. I got a 300 light year jump and then it all started to stutter again. seems to be random when they go.

Its was pretty scary Chance! I was going "no, no, no" or words to that effect until getting out of the system and firing off the heat sink. Just gotting go carefully, and slowly, back home now.

Numbers time, for those who like numbers...

Number of jumps: 737
Average time/jump: 45.4s
Time per 1000 LY: 21m 31s (over 25,899 rather than actual)
Light years per hour: 2.79 (over 25,899 rather than actual)
Emergency Stops: 1 (35s extra time)
Replots due to unscoopables: 7 (3 instances of 3 non-scoopables in a row - each requires 2 extra plots)
Total time plotting: 16m 4s (of which 8m 53s due to replots)
Number of GalMap plotting issues: 1 (due to replot above, time included there)

85% of my jumps were 45s or less, the fastest being 40s.

I was just leaving Sag A from my last run and was playing with the GalMap to work on my magic numbers when Drakhyr posted his time and mentioned pre-plotting...I thought it sounded a good idea, so I turned around and started pre-plotting my route. It helped speed up each plot, but I still ended up visiting 699 new systems on this run (i.e. 95% of systems on the route weren't visited on my run back via the same waypoints). This also meant that my time spent checking for, and altering plots to avoid non-scoopables was in vain - as evidenced by the number of replots I had!

Anyway, although I put in a lot of work in the GalMap and flying this stripped down Asp (now over 80,000 ly ), this was only possible building on the work and effort by the rest of you - so thank you!

Crumbs! I don't see my record lasting much longer with times like these around!

Like mjmw, I am a little short of the funds needed to outfit an Anaconda to properly challenge. It appears I'm a bit closer than he is, so it's a mere 150m credits or so I need. I don't think any of the sponsorship deals are that good (or likely to come with a free Anaconda to "borrow" - I'm sure they won't mind if it comes back with scorch marks?)...

Hats off to mjmw for a fantastic run. o7

Halfway in and REALLY annoyed that it will not prioritize fuel/scoopable stars when plotting course. Can't believe the devs didn't think of something like that; seems like an obvious feature for a long-range ship.
When I get hold of the clowns at Lakon who QA'd this software...
Well, let's just say I need to buy 6 railguns before I visit.

After 10 hours' flying, this is my view as I call it a night almost 8.5k LY from Sol. Early start tomorrow but it looks like it will be Monday before I can get there, all being well. No problems so far but glad I fitted an extra 16t fuel tank. Range on a full fuel load is 18.12LY. Was able to find the modules I needed between Galileo, Abraham Lincoln and M. Gorbachev stations. Departure time Galileo was 4th July 09:42:56 (game time).

Parking in DRYAU AOWSY EY-H D10-3392 for the night.
~19,000 LY isn't bad for one day, for a first-timer to long range travel. I'll take it.
6838.81 LY to go.

Ran into lots of issues with plotting starting at the 12,000 LY (from Sgr A*) mark. Started plotting my routes upward, slowly, painfully, 30 LY at a time. Finally got free of the clutter, back to plotting 500 LY routes.

Sláinte agus táinte.

Well done to all you persevering commanders. I made it last Tuesday only to learn about Buckyball 8! Now I can't linger around here and need to get back. Least we've got a few weeks.
