Changes to Community Challenges

Why not just run the same Challenge for 2 weeks? It'd increase accessibility even further! Thank you!
Agreed! when i read "We will now be running challenges once every two weeks, instead of once a week. " i thought this was wat was going to happen, and was realy happy about this.. but leaving it 1 week with a cooldown of 1 week, keeps people away from participating if they have a busy (working) life and don't have much hours they can spend every week.

Will we be getting new rewards also? Animals and CC are things that we can get just by playing the game without any challenges. It would be nice to get something that you can ONLY get through one of the challenges.

These changes will go live mid-February. The next challenge will take place next Tuesday, and will be focused on Greater Flamingoes! The week after that, no challenge will take place and then our new changes to variety will begin as well.

It's now next Tuesday. I don't see an active challenge in game right now. :( Is this intentional?

if it goes live, it is probably in the evening (here it is now 10.14 am). but what i don't understand is that Chante said on wednesday that the challenge would go live next tuesday (so today...), but when i look at the community page, the challenge is supposed to go live next week :/

I really hope is goes live today, because my whole tradecentre is full of golden ones, and i can not buy other animals and if i place them in my zoo, they are dead before next week :/ Tradecentre is WAY to small and should be unlimmited when you are breeding and creating 4x100 animals

Have made an edit to the original post: the next challenge will take place 28 January and will focus on the Greater Flamingoes.

Thanks for your feedback regarding the changes to the Community Challenges, keep posting your feelings towards them and if needs be, we can look at changing them again :)

I think also that 2 weeks to do the challenge is better than 1 week. But it's needed to be a little bit more difficult if it is 2 weeks because we have more time. With 2 weeks, more people can take part in the challenge with more time so maybe, it can be a little bit more difficult.

Frontier, I just wanted also to Thank You for those 2 great games. I'm a Coaster fan/ park fan normally and Planco is really great (some content are missing and there are some problems but Planco is really a good game in general). I had so much fun playing it like with RCT3. Now Planet Zoo, I was not interested in this game a the beginning but my girlfriend bought it for my Christmas (deluxe + artic) and, I fall in love of this game, the ambiance, everything! Sorry of this off topic but thank you for your great job! Best video game company for me. Sorry for the off topic and for my English, I'm from Belgium. :p

Yeah, I'm in agreement.
Challebges over 2 weeks could work better.

Now I have to wait a week.

More thought needs to be taken with challenges too.
We were tasked with breeding the slow slow Rhino's at 80,000 but fairly speedy Flamingos is the same? AND people have a week to buy the Flam Flams to prepare?
Not really balanced.

A challenge every two weeks lasting for this two weeks would be awesome! But please do not make it harder to get the clothing items. I love the outfits a lot but I dont have the time to spend all day waiting for a bunch of animals getting 300 years old to release them into the wild :'D

I agree that they should last 2 weeks, and there should be a 'challenge' to those community challenges.. that is what makes it fun :D .

I guess(!) the reason for the challenge-free week is to give players some "private time" with other than challenge-related zoos in which they don't feel the need to work towards a goal.

Extending the challenges to two weeks wouldn't neccesarily have this effect.

but if the challenge would be 2 weeks, people can choose within those 2 weeks when they want to work on the challenge.. now they are forced in specific weeks to do this.. and if some people have not much time to play this game, then they will have the feeling that they need to do the challenge in the little time they have. not everyone has every day/week time to play this game.

that's basically every single game with an online challenge - they are designated to a specific period, so every game has this "forced" part.

Also you need to increase the numbers if the challenge would be 2 weeks. Or it would be too easy..

I think it's just a matter of watching on how this goes, the variety will also make challenges a different experience.
They can always adjust challenges after a while, if people don't like it.

that is true.. i'm glad they add some variety to the challenges, hopefully there will come more (and not only breed/release x animals)

I wish I'd known there was a debate going on. I would've put my vote towards more challenges, not less. :( As it is I have to wait 4+ days for the new challenge, since most of the challenges were finished so quickly they ended in 3 days. Now we have to wait 2 weeks? If people don't want the challenge why don't they just ignore it?? It's not like they won't be repeated at some point, considering the limited number of animals available.

If people are upset that the challenge is too hard because it only goes one week, how does skipping a week help? They're still forced to work on the challenge the same time. It's just a wasted week in between.

The community challenges doesn't need occur on biweekly schedule, they may be better utilized as community events between competitions. Speaking from experience, it was hard designing a habitat while also participating in the community challenges. Given that, I would also create a difficulty scale that determines the duration, but, also the prizes. I think this would bring some variety and unpredictability to community events, which, in turn, keeps the community engaged (via a variable reinforcement schedule, haha). It's akin to the community eagerly awaiting DLC, some people haven't played the game since it's release but still regularly check-in.

Edit: spelling

I don't think it's a matter of not wanting to do the challenge, but being part of the challenge has become a weekly priority.
Especially when you don't spend that many hours per week on this game, the challenge is the only thing you do. (also depends on the animal)

I think it would prove more fruitful to have them fill up the time between competitions

I'd like to see a change in the personal challenge to fill up the time between community challenges. Especially when some people are happy with the change and some not.
The personal challenge is quite handy in the beginning when you don't have that much money but later on, you ignore it most times.
