... In the past, whenever ED got a new feature announced, a certain other game announced a similar feature, but with more fidelity and claiming that all critique that was uttered on EDs feature would not apply. I have yet to see any of that though.

Okay, so I skipped the second half of this thread, but I did searches for "lore" and "storyline" which both came up empty.

Did you get to see or hear anything implying some new/more lore/storyline? Yes or no will suffice... thanks!

Yes and there is not only ED in the life.

Many other pleasures are accessible.

Ed will bring good things for Christmas.

Let's take advantage of all the good things that we can get from Frontier or elsewhere

Well I don't stream content or have any kind of Internet presence apart from the forum and twitter both of which are to be honest pretty minimal.

Frontier at points were robustly challenged on aspects of the update and productive discussions followed.

This is a pretty big update with a broad range of new features and updates to existing features at the same time. From what I have seen there has been a large amount of work out into this and from my point of view it was all positive.

Explorers get done great new content to make traversing the galaxy more enjoyable and engaging.

BGS fans again have a lot to look forward too with the codex etc..

Miners again get some great new features and from someone who's never been interested in mining I'll definitely be giving it a go.

Visual improvements are always a good thing and a lot of work has been done on it, Audio is as ever stunning Ed and I agreed that the audio team are vastly underrated on how good they are.

The passion FD still has for the game and the community is very apparent and I can't see that dissipating any time in the future.

Yeah not everyone is going to love every aspect of the update but they should be encouraged that FD are still working very hard on the game we all love.

I don't think the whole point was simply to hype, but rather to get an honest feedback from people with collectively hundreds of thousands of hours in the game who regularly hear concerns of from hundreds of players each. Seems pretty obvious based on who they asked, ie not just youtubers, but also gurus and group leaders that they wanted to dot their i's and cross their t's before showing the general public. Hence they picked a nice diverse focus group.

The live build that they were demonstrating - in quite a few cases we asked them to pop open a screen or a view again so we could take a look at some details and make comment - on the exploration one for instance, they were more than happy to hop between various screens as we were interrogating them about the original system view, the honk, the new stuff etc etc and how it all fit together and worked. As I mentioned in my write up many pages back - it wasn't a puff piece "powerpoint slide and screenshots" presentation - it was live demonstration of the current build - in the comms corner of the screen you could see various other team members working from the rest of their office logging on and off as they did whatever it was they were doing - some of them with entertaining names clearly used during internal builds on test commanders. It wasn't an isolated build used just for our demo.

Are the new explorarion UIs whole screens like the galaxy and system map or are they part of the current HUD or a pop-up. Or is that part of the NDA?

I dont know why and its nothing to do with Sir Tj being a mod, but reading this has given me much more faith in whats to come than watching anything from anybody on YouTube.
