Community guests at FD HQ on 27th for Q4 news

Erimus isn't a household name? I reckon he is, mate, along with possibly only two others; one shoots videos with nice backdrops telling us stuff we already know, and the other shoots sci-fi writers pretending to be space princesses.

None of that qualifies anyone as a household name. I've never even heard of them and I'm into video game spaceships and sci-fi.

So who are the real household names because of their contributions to the game (no not media or social media)?

Scott Manleys pretty well known, but even he's not a household name. I'd say there are none we are just geeks who play a video game, well some of us anyway.

It's not a popularity contest, of course, and it's not sour grapes to suggest that the people spearheading the organisation of perhaps the largest long-duration event in video gaming history should have had an invite in order to assist with planning.

It is a popularity contest that's why they chose how they did, there's no point in them reaching out to someone with no following when they are generating hype.

i'm not moving goalposts but you are starting to come across as really obtuse...

Yo do not really need to resort to start calling me names. If you want to continue the discussion, please do so, otherwise I d prefer you abstain from using ad hominems.

what the monkey should i know, viajero? i don't live there. what i know is that their results and attention through the year has been dismal. that they had discrete goals and even so had to cancel part of them. that they announced feedback sessions that didn't happen. even the usual livestreams/happenings that usually just involve 'community management' people didn't happen either.

I am simply pointing out the obvious contradiction you are incurring in here:

- On the one hand you seem to be very sure that FDEV has not really done any significant work on Elite in the last year, at least not until the moment you described as "scrambling" and "trying to catch up" and that you estimated started around 3-4 weeks ago as per Zac's post.

- But when I asked you if that means that you think that serious work on 3.3, for example, must must have started also within those 3-4 "scrambling" weeks you respond with "what the monkey should I know".

Well, what is it going to be?

It occurs to me that if this'd been announced before it happened, it could have given the visitors opportunity to use their respective platforms to find out if there were any specific questions people wanted answers to.

Personally, although I'm happy to see specific activities like mining and exploration updated, I was under the impression that this year was intended to provide an opportunity to consolidate core gameplay and, aside from C&P (which is, arguably, a trainwreck), I haven't seen or heard much related to this.

It would've been nice if somebody could have asked about it.

I meant household name within the ED universe.
Erimus was the first person to Beagle Point and a founder of Distant Worlds. And Distant Worlds 2 - well, he's had 3,100 pilots sign up to literally follow him to Beagle Point. I think that qualifies him as having a following.

We did collect questions, just not in an "I'M SELLING ILLEGAL GOODS" fashion.

If the event had been publicly announced beforehand, some of the not-invited users would have had a meltdown (however entertaining that would have been to read).

No point it would have been a salt mountain with a conspiracy topping. That's why they have to rigidly control the official feedback threads.

A lot of that was discussed.

I'm not sure what you mean by an "I'M SELLING ILLEGAL GOODS" fashion, but if you could direct me to where you were collecting questions, I'll have a look through and see if I can see any questions which I might be interested in hearing the answers to.

Cheers. [up]

As above, that's great news.

Can you tell me where it's being discussed?

Yes November seems plausible since they said that everything will be shown in a few weeks.
October will pass quickly and we will be quickly in mid-November

Q: How quickly will October pass?
A: Oh, it'll only take a month, possibly just 31 days if we're lucky. AND we'll be in mid-November just 15 days later.

Well, erm, thanks for the link to a 4 year old ZP video.

Any chance of links to the things I was asking about?
You misunderstand. We weren't collecting questions via specific "Add your questions to the devs below" platforms; we gathered them during chats, reading threads, listening to CMDRs, etc, during our normal playing/community activities.

Hmmm...

Now the visit is over, perhaps you could reveal the questions you asked, and whether they were answered to your satisfaction?

And provide a link to where the stuff related to core gameplay updates is being discussed?

You seem to be looking for, in a rather passive aggressive manner, evidence that you were not represented at the meeting. Let me put your mind as easy, you weren't. That's because the attendees were not representatives, just interested parties.
