Hardware & Technical Computer Build to run Elite Dangerous

No. The laptop has integrated rather than discrete or APU graphics. And intel crap to boot. I've heard good things about AMDs APU solutions which incorporates a graphics core on the processor, but haven't owned one myself. However, family and friends have chosen PCs with intel integrated graphics, and they have trouble with even Flash.

If you want a playerble game unfortunately you will NEED a dedicated GPU core.

Go with the cheap AMD Laptops with APU's, These have a DEDICATED GPU core Integrated with their CPU. They should be cheap as well.

I'm honestly not familiar with laptop hardware just with the model number, and I think gaming on one without spending less than $1500 on it would be an exercise in futility.

Your budget just simply isn't enough for a laptop. You could get a desktop PC that would play it 'ok' with an AMD APU, but laptop? Not a chance. Spend more or go without the game for the duration of your trip.

I am going on a trip and need to buy a cheap laptop

Could this run elite at low graphics settings?

atm i'm using a 2 year old hp pavilion g7 with one of those AMD dual core APU's, while away from home. it's not a gaming machine, but it's good enough to play elite and has a 17" 1600*900 screen and should be roughly in the budget range you mentioned. i don't think that intel has anything in that budget range that will play elite dangerous.

I do not really understand computing, could you give me some examples?

The lenovo g505s I see it has a amd apu8?

Does this makes sense?

No offence but budget laptops are never good for gaming.

A desktop is your best solution, I wish you the best and hope you get set up soon.

I have a quad-core AMD APU laptop (HP Pavilion DV6-6B08SA) which runs at c.18 fps at low settings, 1366x768 in station (haven't flown it as I was just curious).

Similar to this one.

That one has a better chance. Quad core and integrated radeon 8650. I have a laptop with discrete radeon 8750 and it runs fine at medium settings but not too sure about integrated? Also mine has an i5 (although only dual core with hyper-threading). Try finding some benchmarks on the CPU, the A10 5750M. Also reviews on the laptop itself. That may answer the question for you.

Hard to say for certain though.

Thanks, Commander Maynard. I was considering purchasing something similar with my tax return, but I now know that it will be money wasted. I'll happily stick with my desktop for all my gaming needs.

.... as will I - installing on the laptop was a proof of concept to see whether I would be able to play when away from my desktop. I reckon that it might be playable - just.

As to the linked laptop - it would seem to have a better GPU than mine (I think the APU in my laptop has HD6520 rather than the HD7600 in the link).

I play on an A8 6600k, r7 250, low budget rig, plays anything I throw at it 30-60fps 1600x900.

bought it about 6 months ago off ebay, £300, probably get the same bundle for under 250 now i would think. i bought the gpu separate, has a bit more kick than the built in 8750 or whatever the gpu part of the apu is..
