Idk what to tell you guys, I know what I'm saying. Maybe you're thinking of dead zone but on ps4 sensitivity is movement speed ON ANY GAME IVE SEEN IT ON this is specific because perhaps you all play different games than me and just so happen to have this mixed up (unlikely)
That's what other games might call it, but we're talking about curves here, which is not the same. Cyberpunk 2077 is one game that has quite detailed options to this regard, and it features actual curves where sensitivity progressively increases the more you move the stick.

In most other games, it just dictates how slow/fast things move, which is what you're referring to. But not what we're discussing here.

Deadzones are another thing again entirely and got nothing to do with the OP.

I thought consoles had a HOTAS or KB/M option? Correct me if I'm wrong, I have a friend who played the Battlefield games on Playstation and he said that the KB/M option was akin to cheating compared to most players who were on controllers.
There's only one HOTAS available for PS4 and xBox and it's a cheap one (quality wise, won't last one month of gameplay!) I'm pretty sure there's no way to use a KBM in games for PS4. A customizable system with curves for the controller's reaction would be a welcome QoL imho, even FA off is a struggle the actual way.

Idk haven't played cyberpunk and don't plan to after reviews for it. I can only base my knowledge on what I know. If most games call a duck a duck.....

Also I didn't see OP asking about curves and either way I'm pretty sure I'm allowed to think it's a dumb idea

Pull the stick a bit and its super slow, pull the stick to the max and you get max speed..

This can be achieved by setting a big enough dead zone on the controller analog stick on XB too.
Also it helps if you have taller stick (more finesse), but it works with the standard controller too.

You dont play Cyberpunk because of the knowledge of others, yet you only base your knowledge on what you know... hmm..

Most games don't have the option, that's the problem - it's something you see much more in sims (flight, racing) when you configure these things for every axis. Most console/mainstream games don't bother and honestly don't really need them, but Elite isn't one of them - it's quite galling that it's missing really given how complicated (and imo, relatively flexible) keybinds in Elite are otherwise.

Suddenly the thread is about me? Worry about the topic, huh? I KNOW the reviews for it are bad. I KNOW how crap it looks on ps4. Yea I base it on what I know.

I know you should get off me nuts

PS4 player here, the charging port on my long-lived stock DS controller is very temperamental and the sticks have a habit of ‘sticking’ when R3/L3 is pressed, so my wonderful partner got me a couple of new controllers for Christmas. Bless her little cotton socks, she went out of her way to get them because Covid furlough wages have practically reduced us to freegans (slight exaggeration)... but they’re clearly, erm, more affordable third party devices, not to sound ungrateful at all.

Anyway the analogue sticks are quite clearly nowhere near as sensitive as the official DS ones, and at first I longed for sensitivity settings. But the problem for my mediocre flight skills aren’t insurmountable, it’s just felt a little like learning to fly all over again. Some of those top-end controllers look the dog’s proverbials by comparison, but with the console delay of Odyssey and since Elite is pretty much 95% of my game time over the last year it would be an awful lot of money to spend on a controller; I’d rather future-proof my Elite experience by investing in a decent PC and joining the master race :geek:

I think this works only if you're fine with a more 'digital' input method i.e. lots of small on/off movements. I found the deadzones in Elite prevented me from flying smoothly and I got rid of them altogether. Curves would definitely be the more elegant option (if we had them that is).

I don't know what games you play but the sensitivity setting is actually a curve for input/output ratio. Usually the games have a linear curve which is adjusted steeper or flatter so the output seems faster or slower.

Yea deadzones do to some degree. but with deadzone its like "nothing.. nothing.. skip to linear progession" . It just shortens the way the sticks can move.
Sry i have trouble wording this better, my english is failing me 😅

that's exactly what I meant - in such case it'd feel to me I may as well map the relevant functions to the digital face buttons instead.

There needs to be something implemented into the game like a sensitivity setting or something to compensate for console players Bc the difference in difficulty using fixed weapons with a regular Xbox controller compared to pc is ridiculous. Fixed weapons on pc is unbelievably easier and console is way harder, obviously mnk is better then controller but that’s why there needs to be something to compensate for console players Bc it’s a whole different experience and it’s annoying.

Why not just implement Mouse and Keyboard for consoles as a control mechanism? Other games do it.

Let's eliminate controller disparity amongst the platforms. Give people the choice to use whatever control mechanism they feel most comfortable with, on whatever platform they choose to play on. Surely that's the ethos of "blaze your own trail".

1) I've had the Thrustmaster Tflight for PS4 since launch. Had no problems with it over however many thousands of hours I've put into Elite.
2) Keyboard and Mouse is a supported control mechanism on PS4. Other games use it already. If it's available, why not allow players to use it?

Others will disagree but for me M&K controls in most other games (yes, including FPS shooters!) remind me too much of work... like I'm not flying a space ship but an Excel spreadsheet :D The biggest issue for me is the lack of analogue control over functions that are typically assigned to WASD. It just feels weird to me.

My friend on xBox had it work for one month before it started to develop terrible goings, yes he tried to fix it following the known ways but still was flawed, you've been the lucky one in the pond probably since everywhere I turn I hear people moaning baout its bad behaviours, about KbM if it is as you say then it's a game problem? I don't really know.

Yea my thrustmaster hotas only lasted 3 weeks tops before it started drifting hard to the left
