Console Profile Copy Process - Live Now!

I have a console and a PC account that uses the same name but I want to transfer the console CMDR as it has more playtime on it. Would I be able to delete the PC CMDR to keep the name from console or is the name permanently locked and I would have to change it during the transfer?
I too am a bit concerned about this now, I thought I read something about it but, now cannot find anything about it.

Its in the FAQ:

The Commander on the existing account that I will be using has the same name as my console Commander. Will this be a problem, as I'd like to keep that name?

Once you clear your existing PC save (see the question "I already have a PC account. Do I need a new one?" above), there will be no duplicate name to cause this potential conflict, so you will be able to continue with the same name without issue. The name will remain reserved by the account that originally owned it, so another CMDR will not be able to claim it whilst the transfer goes through.
 
Apologies if I am being incredible dumb, where in the FAQ does it cover if you already have a PC commander to be wiped?

I am still waiting for the fleet carrier to decommission on the PS5, so not actually logged into the transfer page yet but, the links to further FAQs just repeat what we have seen before?

Anyone who has an existing PC account can you post the lowdown?

Is it just a case of at step 2 using the existing Frontier account? Will I be able to use my existing PC commander name if I delete it?

Hey @stormyuk - so, I've just completed a successful transfer. Here's the deets:
  • I cleared my existing PC CMDR save before starting the process
  • I logged into my Sony PlayStation account as the console account to copy
    • This then came up with the FID, credits, location, etc to match my PS CMDR as expected
  • I logged into my Frontier Account (for the CMDR I'd previously cleared the save on) for the target PC account, rather than registering a new one
    • This did NOT show any details for the target FID, etc - which initially worried me but it all seems to have worked fine
  • I then clicked the rest of the buttons and waited patiently!
Since the copy completed, I've been able to:
  • Log in on PC (nothing needed - just booted up Steam and ran the game using the pre-saved log-in details)
    • It did default to the Odyssey tutorial but I just skipped it and then hit Continue
  • Switch to all my ships
  • Observe modules transferred correctly and available in Outfitting
  • Apply cosmetics to my Flight Suit (using cosmetics copied from my PS account)
  • Fly around the space station in my Mamba and re-dock
  • Get out and wander around the con-course (Odyssey license still working!)
  • Purchase a Maverick suit and apply cosmetics (using cosmetics already on my PC account prior to copy)
For anyone wondering about time in the queue, I entered my request at 16:08 and it completed at 17:43 which is 95 minutes. From other posters, it looks like folks who requested just a few minutes before me were up to 15 minutes quicker ... it seems that as more people put requests, the wait time is increasing exponentially so, y'know, over 2 hours sounds pretty likely right now.

In theory once you delete the save the name is usable by you. This gets me through to stage 4 but then I'm stuck in Database Error loop.

Thanks very much, this is perfect and what I was hoping for. I will give it a go once my FC is decommissioned. :) (y)
 
Have now deleted my PC save and transfer from console is now queued. My PC account had the Lifetime Expansion Pass so will that still be enabled with the newly transferred save?
 
Well that was a pretty painless experience, now I'm sat watching the little spinning wheel on the "Copy In Progress" page.

Anyone know how we claim our free copy of Horizons? Do they send you a link/download key/etc?
 
Copy the launcher in the same folder and rename it to something meaningful. Run the copy, it will ask for credentials. Use the new ones. No need to log off from the original.
Thank you! I've been wondering how to do the whole "Alt Account" thing. I like my newbie CMDR. It's fun flying by the seat of my pants again!
 
When does the new account get access to downloading of the PC version? After completed transfer? eyeballs queue with no number
I'm looking for clarification on this point myself. I assume the will be a download link on the final page after the migration is complete.

Ignore me, I didn't look at the last page of the "How-To" guide.
There's a big fat orange button on the final page that says "DOWNLOAD ELITE LAUNCHER".

You'll probably be able to log in to your Frontier store account and download it from there as well.
 
Your profile is now being copied. Please be aware that you cannot access your account while the process is in progress. This page will indicate when the process is complete. its been like that for a while
