Console Profile Copy Process | Release Plan

My question wasn't about the FC's, what happens to them, and how to get another one after the transfer, it was about what happens to all the ships/modules that are stored on your FC after your save gets moved to pc, since your pc account won't have a carrier to move them to. You can not buy another FC on pc until your console save is transferred to pc. You need an account to play on pc to do that, and wont have one until after the transfer is complete. By the time you get in game on pc to buy another carrier, all of your ships/modules will have been already transferred to pc, but without another FC to transfer them to.

When you transfer, you should have two sets of everything. One set stays on console, and the duplicate set of ships and modules goes to pc. The problem is, even though your console FC is persistent and will keep all your console set of ships/modules, your pc account will not have a FC to copy the second set of all your ships/modules to. So where does it go?

So if you have a Carrier on Console and you dont sell that carrier before the transfer, then your ships and modules could stay there. Why not?
With the mention that now you will have a new commander, with it's own ships, modules, ranks, materials, etc... As far as your console account is concerned, nothing changes.

We have the latest news on our targeted release plan for console profile copy portal in place for you today, which you can absorb over in the following post: www.elitedangerous.com/news/console-profile-copy-process-release-plan.

Hello Sally,
any news regarding the Carrier migration - i know they will not be migrated and it was suggested to the people that cannot take a 6+ billions loss to decommission their carrier prior to the actual migration

However, this quote 👇 from Bruce implied that some other options are under scrutiny by the dev team (for example, and this is my daydreaming, the console migration process automatically enabling a carrier for the migrated account if the source had one or simply adding the credits value to the new account so they could use that amount to purchase an identically outfitted carrier on their new account)

What are my options for my Fleet carrier and its contents?

We are looking at a number of options to give the best continuity for CMDRs being copied from Console to PC.  As soon as we have more information on Fleet Carriers, this page will be updated to reflect our plans.

I already know all that. My question wasn't about the FC's, what happens to them, and how to get another one after the transfer, it was about what happens to all the ships/modules that are stored on your FC after your save gets moved to pc, since your pc account won't have a carrier to move them to. So where does it go?

You can not fly to your console FC with your pc account and claim your first set of ships/modules for your pc account.

Even though both accounts are technically duplicates, your console carrier is only accessible by your console cmdr. There needs to be another carrier for all your ships/modules to transfer to. Since there isn't, where does all the ships/modules that are stored on your console FC go after the transfer? That is my question.
They should spawn on the console carrier.
Activate shipyard and outfitting modules and set access to [ALL]

Yes, if you don't sell your carrier everything stays there on console. But my concern is with the pc save, not the console save. where does all the stuff thats in your console carrier go, on your pc account, since your carrier doesn't copy over?
Your pc save should be identical in every way to your console save. Means that every station you stored your ships/modules it should all be in same place on pc, after the transfer is complete. EXCEPT for what is stored in your carrier. Because your carrier doesn't transfer over. So where does all that stuff go.

I'm very much interested in this too. I'm down to less than a billion creds but have a lot of trit and LTD stored on my carrier. I assume I'll have to firesale those off or just lose them when decommissioning?

Would like to know if there's any more info regarding fleet carriers before I hit the big red button to send my beloved cookie carrier to the scrapyard

So where does all that stuff go.
Nothing get lost... no need to worry about that.
Your stuff (ships and modules) will be on your console account carrier or on the nearest station

As a sidenote,
sometime ago, i was doing missions from an AX Megaship. And the thursday come, the system gets into repair mode and the Megaship disappeared from the system.
When i logged it, i loged in the empty space (Megaship departed)... then i flew to a nearby system to a station with starport and outfitting and i transferred the modules that i had on that megaship (they were listed as being in the previous system, where the megaship was)

So again, nothing get lost.

They count as stations.
If they're moved to the nearest station, so what?
Hope so. Just been hearing so many different things lately and frontier haven't really touched on carrier contents. So wasn't sure what to believe. I was hoping for a response from them here.

Greetings Commanders!

This is it! We opened the door to September!
As mentioned in this week's Discovery Scanner, this month is absolutely a one for some quite large scale events, one specifically being the console profile copy process, with the release of the console profile copy portal.

We have the latest news on our targeted release plan for console profile copy portal in place for you today, which you can absorb over in the following post: www.elitedangerous.com/news/console-profile-copy-process-release-plan.

For those of you with questions around the other big bit of Galaxy-keeping, '4.0', outside of console copying - We're working on the release plan for this too it and will be back with specifics in dedicated communications as soon as possible.
Still on track though!

Keep looking up (or...down. Who knows when you're up in space, I know)!

o7 Commanders.
It's been a rough road and a true Journey to the Black and Back!!

Finally, something I can look forward to. This game has continuously frustrated me and let me down for the last two years.
I started on PC, moved to Xbox, then to PS4 over the course of the game's evolution and now here I am back at PC again soon.

I was beginning to wonder if I had bought a new PC for nothing, as I rarely play anything on it. Although I did reinstate my World of Warcraft character and get in a little old school shooter time on Day of Defeat while hoping that this day would finally come.
So here I am, Steam account reactivated... have I really been a member 13 years??? wow!
The squadron, or group we had on console went from 10 to 3, now that have decided to migrate to PC. Changing all that for 1 game isn't always feasible. Some have PC's for work but they cant game on them and they are not cheap.

So this is bitter sweet for me and I would imagine some others... The wait for Odyssey on console was soooo exciting, then became a bit alarming. When the news hit after nothing from the Dev's for so long, all the excitement, wonderment, and newness of the expansion was gone. Many were robbed of that new game feeling and became bitter. It was tough to chew on. It hurt a bit as I decommissioned the carrier and said goodbye to a game I had been playing since slightly before Horizons. After a few months we got word accounts may transfer so a few of us got back on and played the old console a bit and even revived the FC with renewed hope, yet there was the matter of only one of three having a PC to play on.

I want to thank FDEV for at least putting forth the effort to care about some of us long time players who ended up on console and offer the transfer. Not how I would have handled the situation obviously and I was extremely unhappy for quite some time, this was a game I loved. That being said I have come to terms and am excited once again to be playing on a new platform... well back to where I started oh so long ago anyway. Turns out console wasn't the entire future of gaming eh? Anyway thanks guys, hoping for all of our sake this goes well. Just wanted to offer up what I believe many of us have been through on the console side. The struggle has been quite a journey but we are hoping the light at the end of the tunnel is here, (and not a train).

Carry on commanders, I look forward to becoming a member of this elite group once again.

I would like to know how long the window will be open. I know September 12th is the planned start date for the transfers but when will the last day to do it be? Will we have 90 days? 60? There are still some things I want to do on my console account so that when it copies, it carries over to the PC account and I have it on both.

This is really good news, got me a brand new gaming rigg and oddesy looks beautiful on it.
Carrier and all is decommissioned and i can not wait to finally get all my inventory over to PC.

Probably not the right place to ask but thought I'd take a shot.

I am completely computer illiterate and all the technical jargon goes right over my head but I was wondering if anyone had any advice on a gaming PC good enough to run Odyssey at a playable and acceptable level.

I'm also not a rich man with a family and with Xmas around the corner and the cost of living crisis the cheaper the better. Thanks in advance

While I'll keep the transfer process in mind, I'm not particularly interested in it, I don't have a PC that can run "base" Elite Dangerous, let alone Odyssey and I don't want to play 99% of my games on PC if I did.

I want to play most games and in particular what to keep playing fully featured Elite on my family of systems of choice, Playstation!! 😯😀🤘 .

I'm still hopeful that after Frontier sort out Odyssey on PCs, they'll "return" to console development and "at the very least", release the game in full, along with Odyssey and any new features on the "next gen" consoles, while adding everything they can to the "last gen" systems, while all platform crossplay would be a great added bonus!

You'll "leave a lot of us behind" if ye don't "return" to console development, but we'll welcome you back with open arms, IF you come back to us! 😯😀🤘
One thing to keep in mind about the console transfer is that it is effectively a save copy (minus FC and arx) and won't delete the Dave existing on your console of choice. The way I see it you might as well go ahead with the process so that the transfer is there if you ever do happen to get a PC that can run the game :)

I’m confused, again.

Do I now need to decommission my console fleet carrier and then repurchase one on the new PC account, in order to use it on both the PC-transfer and PS4?

If I choose not to do so, and decide instead to grind until the cows come home, can I then purchase a fleet carrier on my PC account and then have two fleet carriers, one for the new PC account and one for my PS4 account?

Do X-Box players need to decommission their fleet carriers in order to acknowledge that Sony is not supporting X-box exclusive releases?
You only need to decommission it if you never plan to use it on the console again, I am planning to keep mine as the PS5 account will be just as rich as the PC account is, as its a copy of said account. If you have a lot of cash on the account you really don't need to decommission the carrier unless you want to. Mine will live on the PS5 for years with the money on that account for weekly maintenance costs.

If I ever need it for some reason I can then still use it. If you are in need of the credits though, then yes decommission it and buy a new on on the PC.

I am not even sure I will buy a new carrier on the PC yet. Not 100% sure.
