It's perfectly fit for purpose.
I got top 25% on my XB account in the last CG - so yea, it's as good as it was when i purchased it.

Seriously?Been around longer than you and even though I appreciate how carefully you Chose Your Words, Your View Doesn't Reflect the Greater Reality. There are many games that have done just that. Major isn't the same as majority, and while the console segment of the userbase is certainly not trivial it evidently isn't enough to warrant continued development. That sucks, but Xbox One & PS4 are last generation console tech, hardware moves on and there's also the fact that Elite as a franchise may be on one of your father's C64 discs, so it's roots are firm.
and by support, they mean critical updates (security, crashes)
I don't think the Odyssey needs that much more power.
And I play Elite Dangerous on 4 year old PC hardware and have no problems.
Don't worry, their response time is 8-9 months.. so maybe it'll be 12 months.I'll give them a year before they completely abandon it and delist the game from ps and Xbox.
It'll be two years before they remember to tell an intern to tweet out "full profile transfers are not possible" after forgetting to even try to make it work.
I've downloaded Stellaris, do you know if that's any good?I"ve already deleted Elite Dangerous (XSX) and am about an hour or two into NMS. As much as I miss some of the features of ED, it's about the closest thing I can find to a space exploration game on console. Unlike Frontier, Hello Games has affirmed their commitment to console and pc players alike through all the massive updates with next generation console specific enhancements. I just can't convey how disappointed I am in Frontier and how this has utterly changed my willingness to ever invest in a game from them again. On a positive note, NMS (first time trying it) is actually pretty fun so far.
I know this is a tough decision, and I understand.
However, given this decision, I feel it only fair to allow console players to transfer over their progress to PC, including all their ranks, ships, materials, engineer unlocks and so on.
The previous system to only transfer over everything in credits was the only thing holding me back from switching to PC.
Having the option to a one-time total transfer over to PC, will let a lot of people continue to play the game, keeping your playerbase high and active, and your sales of Odessey will get a good surge of income. If third party sites like Inara can track all these things, then so should you be able to.
I fear that a lot of people will prefer quitting all together over having to start over with a lot of credits.
Understandable, I hope FDev leave the option open to everyone on console to move to PC in case situations such as your own change in the future. o7The thing is, I didn't buy a new xbox because one or two games ported across. And the price of a new xbox compared to a reasonable gaming PC small. I have no plans to buy a PC and definitely not just for Elite. The game isn't worth playing now with no future, it's a sinking ship in regards to consoles so I'll be jumping now and waste no more time.
They sold us ARX to modify our ships via PSX accounts and still do, then because we cannot transfer the ships, having spent real cash on them we can say there is indeed a financial contract in place as long as Fdev is solvent. Refund the ARX, transfer all our stuff, or compensate console players for the extras they have bought. The fact that the game is supported on PC but no longer on consoles is the key here, console players have been treated unfairly. Here is the contractual problem, a player has spent say £200 on ship embellishments and the like through the Sony Store and "out of the blue" Fdev say the console version is no longer being supported you have to move to PC to be in the position you were before. But that does not include the cash you spent on ships and extras - so there is a small claims case to file - or Fdev can find a way to allow console users to transfer all their credits, ranks, ships etc to PC.How exactly was that time now wasted? You can't go back and un-enjoy your spent leisure time.
Fdev have broken no contracts with users here..
It's all good. o7Edit: Sorry to come across a bit terse Fizz.
What a bunch of sycophantic fan boys.. "thank you Mr Braben " ... totally let down by a greedy CEO and company that have ruined many a console users money.. I say SHAME on you Fdev, Shame on Mr Braben ... utter rubbish
They have nothing to give.
Certainly not cartilage.
FDs share price went up a tiny bit though, so glass half fullCatharsis though... this thread is certainly giving people that!
After backstabbing us like this? They might want to lie low.Don't worry, their response time is 8-9 months.. so maybe it'll be 12 months.

I find this all so fascinating. How does one arrive at the point of creating such a deeply initiate and personal relationship in their own mind with a company to explain such raw reactions? It boggles the mind how a person can create such a personal relationship, and then lash out so emotionally raw when their self created vision no longer matches reality. Many of these responses are what one might expect when a real life person discovers their intimate partner has been having an affair.
Frontier is a publicly traded company. In all probability, a large part of their decision to port to consoles in the first place was to jump on the console port money grab bandwagon that was all the rage back then. In all probability, further console development is likely not worth it any more in a cost benefit analysis. Frontier is in a far better position to make that determination than anyone here on the forums, and companies are not nearly as susceptible to the Sunk Cost Fallacy as emotional individua
Um, seriously? Do you really think that Frontier uses terms like "family" and "community" without any intention of creating a personal relationship with customers? Given how they've been led to believe that they could expect a great future experience with Odyssey, once the bugs were ironed out, the response from console players is perfectly understandable to anyone who isn't pompous, heartless or both.I find this all so fascinating. How can they have a single codebase, when EDH will be supported in the future? Please, Don't say that my friend. I'm a huge fan, I take a LOT of heat here in the forum posting your videos, but don't say "it's a shame".
Fdev explained why: single codebase.
But this is only true, if the performance issues of EDO where related to the development of the console version. I fear, that FDev does not fix the performance issues, but instead raises the hardware requirements. Or do you expect FDev is now able to bring the performance on par with EDH?Actually, this is a very wise long-term decision and specifically does 'bode well' for future PC optimization. The entire point is to focus on a single code-base (PC).
Maybe I'm out of the loop, but people keep talking about developing "the new engine"... Is there a new engine coming, or is this just people wishing that Elite could be picked up and plonked down on UE5?
They also said consoles would have full parity and that odyssey was coming. You should actually read the announcement.
"The fact that the game is supported on PC but no longer on consoles" in NOT correct. Consoles have the same game today that they had last week.
