Curse you Python! Stop being so damn useful!

For my taste it has too weak shields and not enough fire power. But maybe im alone with this opinion, is something wrong with me?

"Not enough firepower?"
I am not a combat guy but, for a "medium" ship, I don't think a lack of firepower is a Python problem. Nor weak shields for that matter but we'll let the experts speak to that.

And, to avoid quoting 5 other confused Cmdr's here...the Anaconda is awesome. :)

I got Anaconda (and later Corvette) cravings since the day I tried my first Sidewinder. So I quickly got to the Cobra MKIII, and then to the Asp Explorer, a ship I quite like and which I used for some elemental trading and Sothis runs.

I was going to save and jump straight to an Anaconda, but I did in fact got a Python. I told myself I could recycle some modules and, all in all, not lose much when I discarded it.

I immediately fell in love with the sleek hull. It oozed style. The first test flights were very satisfying, and I liked the hardpoint placement, the choice of variety and sizes of its internals, and the more than adequate cargo space. And it can use outposts, which I find an absolute must out there.

Special mention to its cockpit view and distribution. I absolutely ADORE looking around me when jumping through witchspace. It's organized, it's beautiful. I'm a Delacy customer for life.

I ended up buying paintjobs and a kit for it, and I haven't thought about bigger (or other) ships since. I'm currently in the process of A-fitting it completely, with a very nice LVL5 FSD roll and currently working for my Palin invitation, but even a Lvl 3 Dirty drive mod is quite noticeable. I was about to furnish an Asp for the 5000 Ly trip, but in the end I decided to do it in the Python (which jumps around 29 Ly, not bad).

When it is fully engineered, it will be a beast, and I will take it to the edge of the galaxy (no need to rush it, right?).

I'm sure the Python has plenty of firepower, three big hardpoints and two medium.

For me, from pretty early on in my Elite Dangerous career I always wanted a Python.

Prior to the arrival of the Cutter and Corvette, the Python and the Anaconda were the top two ships in the game and so were natural goals for many CMDRs. In the end the Python was deemed TOO good and those long term players will remember the nerf it got back Jan 2015.

Also money couldn't be earned back then the way it can now so it was a long term goal when you only had a few mil under your belt. It felt great to have finally traded, explored and fought enough to afford one and has always been a high level work-horse which lends itself so well to the game mechanics that it's the likely reason for its popularity.

Massive D did a great 3 part round up on why the Python remains so popular which is worth checking out :

Even though my Corvette has now superseded my Python as the flag-ship of my fleet, 'Grey Vengeance' will never leave my ship roster. With specialised modules, an A-rated build, custom finishes, the ability to equip a 7A Reactor & 7A Power Coupling and having been engineered to perfection, it is to me, more of an old friend and a legend, than a disposable item.

Awesome, awesome paint job too

I'm also not a 'combat guy' but whenever I do some combat I'm usually most successful with my Python. It's still, after 3 years, one of my top 3 ships that I fly constantly. And the biggest from those that I actually fly (my Vette is still rotting away in the hangar)..

Aesthetically, my favorite ship in the game.
Great all 'rounder.
Only ship I have that I've purchased more than one paint job for.
My biggest problem is trying to decide which paint goes on it.
