D+ What a Disappointment

Yep sadly i agree with what OP has said it is why i refunded the game, me and my friends are torn some refunded others are trying to hang on.

Frontier make good games but i do notice there games always have a lack lusting feel to them which is a real shame.

The game is functional and playable. They got it out the door on their scheduled release date. Now we just have to sit back and play the game while Frontier works on it some more. There is really nothing that makes this game unplayable and unenjoyable.

Again, the excuse has always been waiting "while Frontier works on it some more". If the game stayed in its current state for the rest of its development history would you be satisfied with your purchase?

You have to understand that this game was release in a short time frame. You can't expect the game to be perfect right away. When I got Star Wars battlefront 2, there were things about the game I did not like. But look at them now, they are now making the game 100 times better than before. Of course the game is not spectacular, but that is what were here for. As a community, we all have to share on the pro's and con's of the game in order for frontier to address the issue in the next update. I believe that frontier will do just that. Just give them more time. Maybe you might change your mind when the updates come in. Who knows.

No one is being mean to him. He is just whining about things that have already been talked about. Frontier will most likely update the game down the road. The game just launched. He needs to give it some time.

This is the exact type of attitude that allows publishers to keep churning out half-finished work because they know people will buy it at full price at launch then update the game later if they feel like it. If they don't do it, it's no sweat off their backs because they already made their money from the people who were too excited to take a step back and determine if the game was worth full price.

Frontier supports their games. They did the same with Planet Coaster and from what I know they are constantly working on ED. But ED is a huge game. This game should take less time to get the issues worked out. You either trust Frontier or you don't. I Trust Frontier.

Quite frankly, yes. I'm having a blast with this game.

What no one has mentioned is that today is the 25th anniversery of the original release of JP.

I can only imagine the deadline was set in stone.

I’m enjoying it. I’m 6 hours in, and in the second island.

I don't know, I've been playing it all day. Feels like a management sim to me. About as much enjoyment as I've had with any other game of its type and they've all had some issues ironed out with patches and DLC. Really I haven't had much issue with this one yet other than camera zoom. By all means, point out exactly what's unfinished so I can take a look for myself.

This game is INCREDIBLE. The only problems I've faced so far, are a couple of glitches where dinosaurs walk through each other... That's kinda poor, but will probably be fixed. Besides that everything is perfect to me. I love how the dinosaurs all act differently and have different needs. When you start playing you just sit there for hours! :D

It is free market. You are free to say and act and not buy game at full price. No one is forcing you. 'Half-finished' is highly subjective, because games these days are never truly finished - and in fact they weren't also in the past let's be frank.

This form of moan is just annoying in that sense that it is just subjective POV. Some people will like game, some will won't. Some will find it lacking. Some will find it having everything they want.

It is just entertainment. There are no rules of how much of game should be there before release.

Can't fault the game, after playing all day yesterday.

Each to their own & everyone's views on anything will vary considerably.

Maybe the OP also works for IGN (in my opinion of course, lol)

OP's only issue seems to be the lackluster animations ( he hasn't specified anything else ) which I can't fault him for. Substantially more effort could have been put into those. But to award the game a D+ for that? That's as unfair as IGN's 4/10 score.

The game has it's issues*, there are certainly things Frontier can improve on ( and should have from the start ); but yeah, D+ .. not fair at all. I'd give a B+ at the moment.

Apparently I can't use a normal English word because of this forum's over-zealous filter.
Google "a trivial criticism, discomfort, or annoyance" for the word I used.. good grief, when is Frontier going to fix this filter. Urgh.

Yeah I would be happy. But I know Frontier is going to update it over time.

I agree with OP, if this game didnt have to coinside with movie release to maximise sales (which is perfectly fine)

This game could be so much better and have more depth, it does actually feel like this game was a quick cash cow at the moment.

I havent seen a road map for this game like they have for elite dangerous which does not help

I guess we will have to wait and see.

You know, PC is being updated for two years, but still got it´s major flaws. All they did is fixed some bugs, added some content, but the core problems are still in the game. This seems to be the same. Some problems are not going to be fixed for sure (AI and stuff). If you plan to release unfinished game, at least make it solid in basic things. Both JPE and PC are not solid. At least, PC is not and updating it doesn´t rly help.

Something cannot be fixed with patches/updates easily.

Also, JPE has pretty high price tag imo, so I would expect some quality.

Yep, I have 15 hours played and have already gotten my personal monies worth. The value of money to an individual is subjective, some people can afford to frivolously throw their money around and others cannot. Trying to convince other people in different financial situations how they should spend their own money is a fools errand. This whole discussion is a subjective one, the OP clearly isn't happy with the game and regrets his purchase, cool that's his right. In the same manner those of us that spent our money on the game and are happy with that purchase is also fine. The problem comes when people on one side are trying to convince people on the other side that they are wrong, what is the point of that? To those that are disappointed with the game and their purchase, sorry to hear that. If you like the game and are happy with your purchase, hey that's cool glad you are enjoying it. This whole process of trying to evangelize the other side into siding with your subjective opinion is pretty silly.

I've gotten my money's worth. I've had a blast. I find a few things frustrating but overall its a fun game.

I dislike certain problems (the size issues really bug me) but by and large it's not bad. I'll be playing it later on today again too.

I have played Planet Coaster and I haven't seen any major flaws. It seems like a pretty decent theme park tycoon/management game to me. It's basically got everything I remember from Rollercoaster Tycoon but with better graphics.

The most worrying thing about the defense against the criticism is how it is always "They will improve it".

It's admittance that the game in its current state is a let down, and yet has no evidence that they even have the ability to improve the problems mentioned. I don't expect people to deny the problems, but surely its better to say what you like instead of claiming its okay because a change that may never happen could happen.

This should have been released in its best state. So either they released an unfinished product which is bad, or they have no plans to fix the problems which is also bad. Sure Planet Coaster was updated a lot, but that was their own IP, had no license binds and also was a very complete game on release.
