D+ What a Disappointment

I don't think it is because of console, it might be because of the rushing of the launch or a sad design choice.

Then you don't understand anything about game development. Choices are made to help improve performance. I believe having 10-15 of these large animals all moving in one direction would effect performance, it takes CPU power and GPU power. Having them on screen all at one time wouldn't be good for a console I imagine.

I don't think it would effect game performance severly. We have games like Battlefield I with guns. tanks, planes and zeppelins shooting, firing
and bombing at each other yet that game hasn't been affected severely by that in terms of performance. I believe Battlefield I has similar specs
if not less iirc. So I think a herd could be in the game and not affect the game's performance.

All scripted events. But you don't have any games where 10-15 Triceratops will all move across a field at once.

I might an experiment. Make as many animals as I can till the performance drops. Of course I am playing the PC version. If anyone plays the console version make a small enclosure and fill it with some of the large herbivores. I bet the frame rate will drop eventually.

Battlefield 1 barely takes any CPU power. its beatiful graphically and thats it.

some games like this one or ARMA 3 takes up alot more CPU power because they are used to run many scripts and AI calculations which you barely have of in games like BF1.

Well has it been proven that herding will ruin the game? Because I have some doubt that it will seriously affect the game to the point that it's
unplayable and the graphics suck. I am pretty sure you can at least have all forty two dinosaurs in one single park. 10 to 15 dinosaurs walking together
in a herd shouldn't really break the game.

i dont know, i dont know how much processing power this game takes tho i highly doubt it takes that much CPU power.

better behavior like herding and a t-rex attacking a group of ankalosauruses to eat and the group fights back as one should be in the game however that much i agree.

I tried to do it. But when you put too many Triceratops together it just causes fights. I think the most I had was 7 in a medium sized enclosure and they all bunched up together and started fighting. Which I think is good enough. Also that fact that they start fighting is discourage this and it might because of the reason I have stated in a previous post. Putting too many of them together on screen would cause performance issues.

It doesn't push my i7 6700 much even with 7 Triceratops on screen. But then you have to account for the herding movement and so on. That's a lot of calculations for a CPU to push. Also herding animals usually don't defend each other. That's the whole point of a herd. Large groups means someone might get killed and not you. They usually only defend the offspring. I have never seen a National geographic show on TV where one Buffalo gets attacked by lions and other buffalo come to help. They usually just run away and leave the unlucky one to get killed and eaten.

This is idea that these animals would defend each other is quite childish IMO. This isn't a cartoon. It doesn't happen in real life with mammals.

Male buffalo frequently protect the herd, not just the off-spring. It's usually the old, weak or ousted that get caught and eaten.
A herd will often return to help a fallen herd member, whether that member is dead or alive matters not to them.

I love the defense of "the game just launched, he needs to give it some time." Are you really suggesting that it is appropriate to launch and unfinished game and we as the consumers should be happy to pay for it and then quietly wait for the finished product? In no other area of retail is this acceptable, why would it be acceptable in gaming all of the sudden???

Frontier did what Universal told them to, which is make the game in a short amount of time to coincide with Fallen Kingdom. Frontier did their best to put in as much as they could in that amount of time, which considering the time-to-content ratio is pretty amazing. Now that Universal isn't barking down their snorkel Frontier can work on everything at their own pace and get what they wanted to put in into the game, along with fixing and adjusting what was rushed and what the players suggest. We're getting free DLC and a first batch of AI changes in several days, Frontier all but confirmed the aquatic and flying reptile content will be worked on, and they've got that mega-thread of ideas and suggestions and bug/AI fixes to work with. It's not a perfect world and we can't always get and have everything the way we want it, but at least in this day and age game companies can expand and fix games with DLC and expansions.

""I would say it was cut due to the game being on consoles.""

LoL no that's not even remotely the reason herding and other AI isn't in this game. That's just ridiculous. Consoles can perfectly handle games like God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn and Witcher 3, but fail to be able to handle dino AI in JWE? What? LoL

I love this game. Im still playing it despite my grievances when it comes to the easy money making and lack of real management and customization. And ill get my moneys worht out of this game for sure. But I would be lying if I didn't say that I am very disappointed with a great many shortcomings of this game. Most of which I can see being easily fixed in a meaty dlc or update, which I would buy. But till that time comes I can't say that ill be finishing this game which my JP building dreams totally satisfied. It's just NOT the perfect Jurassic park building game yet, but I have faith that frontier isn't anywhere close to being finished with it, at least I hope

I did inadvertently test this. I put like 20 Struthos and 5 Corys in a semi smaller paddock and my Xbox One S didn't seem to have a problem. I usually only have issues when there are just a ton of ppl in the park, but the last patch really helped with that.

I quickly explain to you guys why this Game is how it is.

First of all LICENSE ----> Universal is Boss while they gave them the Stuff for the models and so ón, they also gave a lot of restrictions due to the fact it should release with the movie and Dinosaurs attracts a lot of young people aka kids.

Now imagine you got a one of the best looking dinosaur games out there but its too complicated for 50% of the target auddience.......what do you think Universal said? Since lets be real JW 1 and 2 are horrible movies with bad actors very bad CGI and a non existent Story, Michaerl would turn in his grave, if it wasnt for the dinosaurs it would be for nothing.
(very common this day and age to rework old movies since its sure cash while new ideas are to much of a risiko just watch we almost only got reboots in cinemas from older films or even very old ones . or the 5-8 part of a single franchize.

JW is no exception beside the fact its garbage.

So you can only hope that Frontier got no restrictions after release to ´´mod´´ the game to a good form since we cant mod it officially (in fact people are already moding it ....but that only pc players will get to expirience and ilegal too but its possible of course on pc only)

So make something out of izt because no one will invest more then 30 hours whos older then 12 .Its surely a nice game for kids and stuff but absolutely no challenge or anything at all its just a wathc the pretty doinso and feed them sim not more. (not to mentrion the stupidity design of the 3 staffs if you do a mission for one the other 2 will do harm to your park makes no sense at all and is alo childdish nonsens and only annoying).

Price is too high for what it offers . Yes license maybe expensive but thats not our problem. And i tell you in one month no one is screaming for it while it had a potenzial to be a million seller (it surely will overtime but it could be 3 times a big if executed correctly=) Its mind bogglihng when you see the talents who are working on this game are on a leash......its pretty sad. When even Prehistoric Kingdom Demo offers more Customization the this whole Game with big budget. I really hope you guys from Frontier can do it or even want to since this will sell like sliced bread anyways only because of the name.

the auddience cutsomers will surely show their face to my post as usual they dont get it that they are only dollar signs for universal they dont give a single .... about you. Fanboyis will only hurt you on the long road and its tremendously stupid due to the fact they only want your money.

Universal go .... yourself.

(dont wonder my bad english ;) but i guess its understandable)

Man, these hard core defenders of JWE are bashing people.... I like Evolution but these people defending the game
are taking it too far. Some of the people criticizing the game might be over exaggerating but it still doesn't give anyone
the right to bash and try to destroy their claim harshly.....

There are valid things to criticize about JWE. Even people like me, who love the game, readily admit that it's not perfect. But saying that JPOG is better is just downright silly.

Silly why explain? It is better in almost everything as a game of this genre. So are all games that were released in this genre.
