D+ What a Disappointment

Yeah, I agree I don't like how the critics of this forum post said ''They will improve it''. Because the OP had a valid point
in that the game did feel a bit rushed and a let down from what we expected. At least he said that he was a fan of Frontier.
But to be fair to the critics, the OP is over exaggerating the state of the game. I just wish some of the critics didn't use the
derogatory word ''whiner'', it's a bad word and kind of hypocritical...

From what was expected? You mean peoples own made up hype and unrealistic expectations?

The most worrying thing about the defense against the criticism is how it is always "They will improve it".

It's admittance that the game in its current state is a let down, and yet has no evidence that they even have the ability to improve the problems mentioned. I don't expect people to deny the problems, but surely its better to say what you like instead of claiming its okay because a change that may never happen could happen.

This should have been released in its best state. So either they released an unfinished product which is bad, or they have no plans to fix the problems which is also bad. Sure Planet Coaster was updated a lot, but that was their own IP, had no license binds and also was a very complete game on release.

Let me guess the game doesn't have 40,000 unique animations per Dinosaur and there is no herding? lol

odd comment this...

I wasnt trying to insult you, I was trying to get the point across that not everyone can make a video game let alone a perfect one. I would like to see you tell of of the developers, coders, animators directly to their face that they are not passionate about their game or customers and only worried about their wallets. These men and women have likely put thousands if not tens of thousands of hours into creating the game. If anyone is being overly critical it is not me.

This is an odd comment. This forum is, indeed, telling the developers to their faces, as best as any consumer can, what your opinion is.

And the effort put in to something does not, unfortunately I know from personal experience, ensure public adoration, or even acceptance of a job well done. No one is claiming they didn't work hard, but, people ARE saying that they missed some pretty obvious targets that a good number of people clearly wanted.

The good news is, in development, you can actually change your product and look to hit more targets for more people... but no good reason to invest in doing that if you don't know what people want. This forum, like every other, brings out the passionate defenders of a company or game, and that's fine, but it's not a personal insult for someone to offer their negative opinions about something you like... and the sooner you get past that, the better. Then you can start offering discussion, and move people past the "I'm mad" part and focus on the "what could Frontier change to make this better for you."

Then the developers who read this get actual, tangible feedback that could, in 6-12 months, make this a game something even more people enjoy and spend hours playing.

From what was expected? You mean peoples own made up hype and unrealistic expectations?

Steam Page: "Bioengineer dinosaurs that think, feel and react intelligently to the world around them"
Reality: "Bioengineer dinosaurs that sometimes reacts to what is directly next to them and do not hunt in packs"

There are a few instances that the way things are worded give the wrong impression. I also saw a livestream where they mentioned that if a fight breaks out, although its a costly loss so you don't want to lose a dinosaur, it can also raise the parks interest due to visitors wanting the see the victor. This made it seem like each dinosaur had an individual attraction level, but in reality, just having a violent dinosaur simply effects an aggression (or something like that) level in your parks rating.

The only negative I knew about going in was that there was no day or night cycle as they wanted to set each islands mood.

I want herding. :(

I made a post about this in another topic. You can see in the first in game trailer for the game that they did herd at one time. It looks like herding got cut or something. But that is just my guess. I would say it was cut due to the game being on consoles. I imagine that having a whole herd of say 10 animals or more would hurt performance. This is just a guess. Maybe it was cut cause they had issues with it and they couldn't get the game ready in time to make the deadline and get it functioning. So maybe they will go back to it post release. I don't see why they couldn't.

Just to add a little more, I think the stuff people are complaining about was most likely cut because of console simplification. It effects more than just controls. They could have probably have done it if the game had been a PC exclusive but they wouldn't get the console sales. So I wonder how many people who are asking for things like herding would have been ready to buy a PC or build one to play this game? I bet not many. Console simplification is a price we all pay. PC gamers and console players.

I love the defense of "the game just launched, he needs to give it some time." Are you really suggesting that it is appropriate to launch and unfinished game and we as the consumers should be happy to pay for it and then quietly wait for the finished product? In no other area of retail is this acceptable, why would it be acceptable in gaming all of the sudden???

JWE is without a doubt the best jurassic park game ever created. dont even dare to mention the cancerous JPOG game as MANY tycoon games eclipsed it.

the engine has full of potential, the company is great at supporting their games, no games are perfect.

while you have the right to bash any games you want, i have just as much right to bash your biased point of view on how games should be perfect.

games were never perfect nor "finished" for anyone since the dawn of their inventions. i dare you to tell me which game was "complete" at release AT ALL.

the only exception i give that is to EA and Paradox because they make incomplete games on purpose, then charge you dlcs to complete them.

your part of the loud annoying minority complaining about this game when this is better then most AAA crap spat out by ubisoft and EA.

yes give it time, if your impatient or unhapy, just get a refund and stop ringing our ears with constant squealing.

Man, these hard core defenders of JWE are bashing people.... I like Evolution but these people defending the game
are taking it too far. Some of the people criticizing the game might be over exaggerating but it still doesn't give anyone
the right to bash and try to destroy their claim harshly.....

Have some rep. Good post. :D

I'm not able to make any game let alone the perfect one, but you know who is??? Frontier. They could have made an amazing game, but instead they rushed this halfway finished game. I am sure their were some deadlines imposed on them from Universal that contributed to the unfinished product, but none of that changes the fact that it isn't finished or good.

Wait a month until the glint in the children's eyes is gone. The frontier and universal can do the right, just want. The true fans of the movie and the JPOG know that this game is just beautiful graphically.

Nice No True Scotsman fallacy you got going there.

It's just not the graphics. This game is better than JPOG in many ways. Like I said before, it makes JPOG look like garbage. You need to take off your nostalgia glasses. JPOG was a cheap program lacking any real in depth gameplay. It didn't even look that good. It was terrible. I played it and it was only popular cause it was the only game like it available. Now it's been replaced with JWE which is far superior.

I think JPOG had a few good features that aren't in JWE, which takes a bit of a hit in the logics as a result. A couple of things notable by their absence, JWE is streets ahead in many ways I agree but I also don't think JPOG's good features should be off limits just because an older game, onwards and upwards? (Being able to cancel incubations before animal is released, having a visitor view from the tower or finding exhibit bonuses based on Jurassic/Cretaceous epochs aren't entirely daft ideas to dino nerds, or for QoL).

I think JWE is ace but I also think it's an A (not yet an A plus) so I hope Frontier are in it to win it with updates. It wouldn't take much for it to be THE definitive game, which JPOG actually kind of was in its day, VERY replayable. JWE is less replayable I think because of the even bigger unlocks, therefore it's going to rely more on cast iron world building.

The OP is way harsh though. For me .. A.

sitting behind a screen and typing on a forum where you are effectively anonomous is not telling anybody anything directly to their face.

Is it really because of console that there is no herding or is it because of them rushing the launch? If it is because of console then i'm kinda sad.
