You can only play the same game with the same content so much before it gets to a point where you're just grinding into oblivion for no reason. I'm leaving because FD has forced my hand since ED is effectively dead in its tracks for the foreseeable future on console. No new content ever again. I never said it's unplayable, I said console users were left and forgotten about. It's allegedly a live service game that isn't live for 2/3 of their player community's platforms, and that sucks however you look at it.I really don't understand why anyone would leave over this. The only thing that was lost are random CG's. Everything else is exactly the same as it has been for years. Most console games are the same way, so what's the big deal?
Constantly active since 2016?? That actually makes me so happy and sad at the same time. I love that you've gotten so much out of it that you've been able to play... well anything that long really. But I also empathize with how this whole thing must make you feel. I really do hope SC is great for you like ED was for me (and you apparently lol)Nothing new ever . Not even many fixes and improvements for all the bugs that have been around since forever or ships or paint jobs etc ??
How many Commanders would play a dead end game that has had no new content in years ??
Even my new discoveries now won't be written into live.
I'm using elite as something to do until SF drops .
Its not the same game anymore, the split literally killed the glue that was everything in elite. ( Ive been an active player since 2016 )
At the end of the day Fdev made a decision. Which was to use PC as a base rather than consoles along with not even looking at next gen . But they had no intention of porting across but as with their Comms last minute oopsie we couldn't get it to work or oooppsie we haven't looked at the big rework .
The BGS is a reason, and as I recently discovered for myself, players are still actively supporting various factions in Legacy, which includes consoles. In fact, it was console players who kicked my butt recently in my bid to free my home system from the dreaded PMF colonizers that have spread through many systems like a cancer. So if anything, my complaint is that Legacy is still too active, LOL.You can only play the same game with the same content so much before it gets to a point where you're just grinding into oblivion for no reason.
I'm glad you still have a reason to be happy with the game. Your reasons aren't good enough for every person. The BGS is a reason, and as I recently discovered for myself, players are still actively supporting various factions in Legacy, which includes consoles. It's not my reason, not any more anyway. I quit (again, for the 100th time) a couple weeks back and have returned to playing X4 Foundations instead. Still, my point that there are still plenty of people enjoying Elite on console has merit.I'm glad you still have a reason to be happy with the game. Your reasons aren't good enough for every person.
As a person who walked through half life 10 times I don't know what to say.How many Commanders would play a dead end game that has had no new content in years ??
That's so strange because I've never had ANY performance issues on console... like ever lol. Nothing to note anyways. I definitely think next gens could handle it though. As a person who walked through half life 10 times I don't know what to say.
Though the ED does not look as finished.
Another point that I don't know how you guys accept ED on consoles.
I had it on PS4 and left it. Trucking probably can be acceptable but after 5 fps in rings hunting pirates I went to PC.
I am not even sure how Sony with their performance requirements for products allowed ED to be published for PS4.
Yet another observation is long development titles are doomed for extra work to port to new versions of platforms because their generations change "too fast".
As an example apple even managed to drop openGL and has invented own graphics API.
ED has tried to get extra credits on consoles, and probably did but supporting them means losing that gain.
Hey, we can keep an eye out just in case right? So to the op.
You summerised it perfectly, shame on my head that I’ve switched the side to pc. But I can assure you, the dissapointment is still there, a whole bunch of minor bugs and some gamebreaker is still common in EDO therefore the lack of improvements to the performance at some high intense moment in elite keeps me away from playing it at the moment.
You speaks perfectly out what some guys including me, trying to tell Fdev back at the hot phase, till the moment the consoles was dropped. We was fully in hope that Fdev wouldn’t let us fall. But it happens. And now when you dare to speak about this as an console commander, you had to be prepared for some statements like,, play on GeForce now or move on, or buy a pc and so on‘‘ I’ve playing it on pc and would be right back when it’s comes to consoles. As the long term bugs would be taken serious.
Till then elite will get a visit after each update. In hope some real improvements are made.
Good look with your request, the last time we get an cancellation. The chance to change Their mind is to zero. But who knows.
Hoping for the best is really all we can do with FD nowED has gone from an era of poor leadership and decision making to..... No leadership? Doesn't look good. Hoping for the best.
Like any company. They are only interested in money and once they weighed the cost of trying to get it to console with income they would gain they decided it wasn't worth it.
Years ago we called it "completed products".You can only play the same game with the same content so much before it gets to a point where you're just grinding into oblivion for no reason
You never had odyssey on consoles, so you cannot say, what ody could do with consoles. Next gens? Coool, Game avaliable on example ps4 and 5, but with one dlc only for next gens. Very good ideaThat's so strange because I've never had ANY performance issues on console
Exactly, was just reiterating that it wasn't an emotional decision on their part. It's strictly financial.Like any company.
Brutal truth is simple- of some "smart" head in frontier would think, that making odyssey for consoles could be profitable enough- they would do it.
But they didn't, so someone had calculations, that making console ody will cost more, than sales will bring.
I think, that it isn't rocket science. Noone want to make deals with negative profit, just because "we created it few years ago so we must continue it untill end of the world".
Exactly, was just reiterating that it wasn't an emotional decision on their part. It's strictly financial.
THAT is the way to quit, just quietly stop playing, nothing more. The only reason anyone will know is if it comes up in conversation. I applaud you and everyone else who follows such reasoning. It's not my reason, not any more anyway. I quit (again, for the 100th time) a couple weeks back and have returned to playing X4 Foundations instead. Still, my point that there are still plenty of people enjoying Elite on console has merit.
