Interesting, perhaps my comments were a little complex.
How much has SC earned in not yet producing a product? ($300+ million, allegedly)
NMS had netted in the region of $100 million in its first 2 years of existence.
How much has ED netted since release?
Now, about those $100's of millions... They are already being spent on products / non-products so the market exists for a released product to compete... Sorry, I can't explain it any simpler.
It's evening in the UK, in case you hadn't noticed. You are also hard at work right now?Love the HUGE amount of CM engagement since the release of this ridiculous thread. ggs
It was you who mentioned Frontier...Where exactly do you see these 100s of millions in Frontier's books? Please enlighten me? Because I'm lookiing at their books and I'm not seeing your 100s of millions....
As for SC, they've shown that there is a place for an unfinished game of very high quality. You can't disregard that, it is fact. Else why are players still buying ships with real life cash?
NMS is the outlier here, as it gives all it's updates small and major for free!! And is miles ahead of ED, although NMS graphicstake time to like.
To put this another way... If you are correct and there are 100s of milllions to be made, there would be far more players in the market.. But as there plainly is not 100s of millions, there aren't !!
Oh definitely not. But we already knew that either they thought it was in a acceptable state for a release, or they didn't have enough time to finish / polish it, or they simply hit a wall and didn't know how to do better than that. At least now we know that while Odyssey may have been rushed, they also hit a wall from a technical standpoint (and that they're willing to be honest about it). I was just pointing out that the truth hurts sometimes.I don't blame the honesty of the post (CM can't be blamed at all) but the dishonesty of the released product.
Is everything forgiven already?
Another year or two and we'll see what Bethesda has done with Starfield. Though I doubt it's easy!Again, if it is so easy, and the perceived value is literally $100's of millions to a studio releasing something that 'completely works' there is a shortage of volunteers...
Are they making it in UE5?Another year or two and we'll see what Bethesda has done with Starfield. Though I doubt it's easy!![]()

Carry on...![]()

Well you're here and not even on the payrole........It's evening in the UK, in case you hadn't noticed. You are also hard at work right now?
Then it arguably might have been better for FDev to post it earlier than 'home time' to allow meaningful discussion rather than all this? It's evening in the UK, in case you hadn't noticed. You are also hard at work right now?
Truth should hurt the supplier not the customer. If this is the status they should decrease the price immediately and refund the difference to the people that already bought the product. They clearly sold a product that is not conformant. In other business companies run in debits and troubles. Instead here people even say thank you...Oh definitely not. You're contradicting yourself directly. There are hundreds of millions to be made, and already have been made.
What point exactly are you trying to make?
Yes, it is after work hours in the UK. FDev loves to time posts just shortly after EOD for them so that they do not need to respond. Great customer service. It's evening in the UK, in case you hadn't noticed. You are also hard at work right now?
