Development Update 5 - October

Most content being added now is relatively independent stuff. Fleet Carrier Interiors, Multicrew Seats, Limpet Controllers... each nice, but each relatively confined to its own space.

Powerplay is a much larger beast, that must be handled very carefully. If they do it, it'll need to have their full focus for a bit, and with all the other shenanigans going on atm, I doubt they're feeling that atm.

Especially with the playerbase split in half. It would be downright foolish to add powerplay content right now.

I will ask this simple request again - before adding more and more missions and mission types please make sure that the current ones can be completed without problems.
Hi Ferus, which one do you see problems?
I see no issues right now on that, but I'm glad to help voting. Did you open a ticket? If yes, please send the link and we could try to reproduce and vote for the fix.

The update sounds great, hopefully in addition to interiors the carrier will feel more personal to owners, after all we paid 5bn for them, a custom ATC greeting and a dedicated owner landing pad would be a nice start.

I must ask here: Do they will be any changes for anarchies? I see, what happens to them and they also need for change. We can't just stay alone without any way to counter our enemies.

I also wait for console version (Odyssey)
But btw. good work for updates and I'm waiting for more.

Dear Fdev here is some of my Update 9 ideas:
1. Jumping Thargoid
2. More ships, biggerone
3. Looting killed NPC
4. Owning outpost, park carrier over outpost (just like Imperial cruiser over Jedha overseeing Kyber crystal transports), install tower guns to defend outpost (price 1 billion CR per tower)
5. Hire an army of NPC to serve in our outpost
6. Volcanic/Oceanic planets, including floating bases/platforms

What do you mean with 'jumping thargoid'. I'm asking coz I'll create a post summarizing many suggestions that I've seen across the forum.
Nice ideas.

I think we getting nothing till mid 2022.
If we get anything to do with Odyssey on console, it will probably be in a years time now.

If they try to release fc interiors by December or early next year, it will take a few more updates to fix all the new bugs that will be introduced.

Then there will probably be more new content for PC released, which will cause more bugs, etc.......

I think a third of the commanders will say goodbye to Elite at the end of the year.
Maybe that is what they are hoping for. That way they don't have to spend loads of time and money trying to get this to work on consoles.

They can just say..."due to low console users now, we have decided to leave Odyssey for PC only."

Will the FC bridge view change - likewise the interior - depending on what type FC you're rocking,? E.g. a circular bridge for Nautilus , a hammerhead for Victory etc.

Oh, and tritium from storage straight to depot would be nice instead of to ship first.

Fleet Carrier Interiors

We previously announced that we are bringing interiors to Fleet Carriers just as we did for Megaships in Update 8. As you might imagine, this poses a greater challenge due to a number of variables. These include allowing players to transport multiple other Commanders and their ships while existing in the same social space. We are pleased to say that we are making strong progress towards this and more details can be seen below.

Fleet Carrier interiors will reflect some of the existing services you choose to add to your carrier. For example, adding a Shipyard will add the ability for players to buy ships while on foot.

New optional services will be available to carrier owners. We’ll share more on these closer to launch.

Very excited! I know the details will come later, but I want to ask this one now, to make sure it's on the radar: Will carriers have to return to a management system to install the new on-foot services? That could be a problem for carriers on the other side of the galaxy. Just curious. ;)

So completely unsurprised by this.

update 8 - emotes - obviously a high demand feature I didn’t know I was in need of + end of October.
update 9 - two seater SRV - just at the point when Frontier are pushing feet, feet, feet, pew, pew, pew, another multi-crew feature I didn’t know I needed - end of November
update 10 - fleet carrier interior - looking forward to racing my SRV round the interior of the fleet carriers…. Oh wait, it’ll be another Odyssey gated feature. I am on PlayStation, I own a fleet carrier but I won’t be able see my carrier bridge. - end of December / Xmas.

There you have it - no Odyssey on consoles until update 11 - 2022 at the earliest.

Good luck on the launch of JWE2 on the 9th November.
I hope that there are not too many post launch defects on console that need fixing and hope that the developers skilled in the console development can move across soon.

Why would Frontier shoot themselves in the foot by requiring the whole DSSA fleet to return to the bubble… they wouldn’t be that short-sighted to not know how Commanders use their carriers would they? Surely, they wouldn‘t expect everyone to fly to the same few outfitting dockyards, causing instance game crashing again…

would they?
