good idea, however why not used a fixed/gimbaled pulse/burst in the large HP

I dont want fixed as the turnrate of the DB E is so so imo, and also I am not Maverick when it comes to piloting.
That said - isn't beam the highest dps of those three ? My PP can handle a large beam and heat is no real prob on the cool running DB E anyway.
Or do I overlook something ?

Tests inc tonight. If it works out, Ill go for high capacity 3 (got more than enough of the needed mats and data) and will engineer the beam (efficient).

C you all out there !

beam: highest DPS, but worst DPE (damage per energy) - anyway, an efficient mod will take care of that, and the DBEs class 4 powerdistributor can handle it, more so as missiles draw next to nothing. - you might even try a (grade 1) longrange beam, as for the seekers you want some distance... Thermal Cascade won't help you much PVE, but at least it won't cost you DPS.

i can imagine that build being quite effective against small ships - sideys, Adders, eagles... against anything larger, you'll run into the problem of missiles not doing much hulldamage. i know what i'm talking about as i had some fun last week with a viper mkIII seeker missile boat in CZ ... maybe shoot out thrusters (and shieldgenerator?) with them, and than use the beam to kill the powerplant.

anyway, will be interesting to hear your experience!

heat will be close to no problem on a DBE wth that loadout.

i've actualy failed to comprahend the diffrence between torps and seekers

You were spot on:
Up to an ASP E I owned them. Later on I was interdicted by a deadly python and had to run at 30% hull...out of missiles and the one large beam took too long chewing on its hull (python at ~60% hull when I jumped out).
Energy or heat weren´t a problem (beam "efficient" engineerd, PP "overcharged").

Shame really, need a different weapon setup yet again.
Any suggestions ?

P.S. As a second question: if going for an all laser setup..what would you equip to tear down hull ? Inkl. engineers that is.

well, i personally think the large hardpoint is made for a large MC ... alternatively you could go with (3?) Plasma accelerators if you are good with fixed?

generally I'm more or less always fiiting at least 1 MC for the corrosive special, which helps a lot with taking down larger ships (+20% damage and +20 Armour penetration Value .... both for all your weapons). alternatively PA or railguns, as they already have the highest APV possible.

for a full laser loadout, I'd always go for shooting out powerplants - with focussed pulses. bursts are shredding hulls a bit faster, but generally lasers aren't perfect for that.

i could imagine a large laser and two medium cannons could be great to destroy moduls fast... or two beams and a large cannon.

i was musing about a all frag DBE the last days... but it might turn out, that the DBE is still not fast and manouverable for that.

Proud DBX owner here, she's named High Desert, enginered 5A FSD (36ly max), power plant, and sheilds, love her, she's my current long range exploration craft. Looks like an Apache attack chopper, loaded her with sensors and an SRV, armed her lighly just in case great for planetary landings. Like I said proud DBX owner/pilot.

They are great ships. Made even greater now with engineering. Mine has a 57(59) Ly range which is just insane.

Hey!

I've been long time forum lurker, I decided that since I'm visiting on daily basis I might as well make an account and join the club. DBE is one of my favourites! I haven't even scratched the engineering part (some G1 Thrusters and FSD) and she already got second wind with jump range nearing 40LY and great agility. She's my default ship for exploration, data missions (both data delivery and scan jobs), flying around scanning stuff, salvaging stuff and whatnot. I rarely use her in combat and for Passenger missions i have a Dolphin (which is great little ship as well).

I plan to get some more money, materials for upgrades and fly to Colonia in her. And from there, who knows? Sag A would be rad to see!

IF ya XBone why not wing up (im the same, T1 engis andstuff)

Back in the DBE....Quite a handful once engineered and full FA-off :)

Might take a bit of time to get the hang of it but time I have lots of.

Went out into a HAZRes with a mate and had a blast. A lot more agile that I am used to but great fun. Go the attack chopper!!

Yeah Black Friday looks great on the DBX. In fact it looks great on al the ships (minus dolphin and baluga which doesn't have it for sone reason).

i was wondering whether it could be fun to make an "Annual meeting of the DBE Owners Club".

for exampel in the Lagoon Sector DB-X c1-0 (~4500 ly from sol), or, if here are many non-explorers, in a proc gen db-x system closer to sol like Col 282 Sector DB-X d16-1?

Would I be able to come seeing as I generally don't keep it for more than a month or so at a time? But that goes for most/all of my ships tbh!!!! Really should stick with one for a while!
