Alright, after a few hours, I think I'm ready to make my final thoughts.
Firstly, I ordered the hula skirt
I believe there's two ways of looking at this pack - one as a standalone animal pack, and the second as the final DLC.
As an animal pack, I think it really delivers. More than that, I think it's best roster since Grasslands. A huge amount of biodiversity in terms of species and geography, including a first with two primates, and highlighting alpine animals, a previously under-represented niche.
The three animals we saw all look superb. None - excluding the bear - were particularly high on my wishlist, but I know were considered essential by others, especially the baboon.
Where I luck out is the remaining four, three of which were on my original Top 25 Meta-wishlist concocted back in 2021 - the markhor, sifaka, and tortoise. Zoo Tycoon fans like myself are also elevated three legacy animals have finally made their way to PZ.
The dik-dik is the only one I'm ambivalent to.
All the scenery looks great, and is going to rely on flexicolor to make or break it imo.
Now...as a final DLC...this is where the issues start.
The biggest issue - and certainly not a surprise to anyone - is the frustratingly on-brand lack of birds. Honestly, the more I think about it, the more upset it makes me. I really feel a lot of my energy and time dedicated to cultivating the bird wishlist fell short and I kinda let the community down in regards, especially considering how the indisputable effect random goat's list made in the game.
This certainly isn't helped by the assumed inclusion of the secretary bird due the dictionary leak. The tree kangaroo and enchida are also pretty devastating exclusions.
Best case scenario, and this is really huffing the copium as the kids say, we get a final final deluxe pack at the end of the year, a la the komodo/gazelle/Moo Deng.
And another big thing for me, why the duck didn't they just make this a larger pack? 12 animals to get us to a nice, round 200? I think I speak for everyone that we'd happily pay $14.99 or whatever for a bigger send-off. Also no exhibit animal, like what lol
I think it's a bittersweet combination of not wanting the game to end, the overall lack of birds that will always hurt the game (which really could have taken a turn here if they gave us 2 or maybe 3) despite how great it is, and the wait of the presumed sequel - which I'm certain will finally have birds...but at what cost???

Ultimately, I feel like Frontier scaled up the church tower and tapped the bell, rather than give a proper ring. Still, I'll be in first in line to get 6 out of 7 really exciting animals....after I put the lei lei on.

Thank you!! And yes, I'm a professional voice actor/puppeteer having done commercials, video games - a lot of work on the Minecraft Marketplace, and even a pilot on Adult Swim. But besides Paddington, I think my biggest claim to fame was creating this viral hit back in 2020:Whaaat!? I did not know we had a celebrity in our midst! Haha how fabulous, I bet that was a fun tour! Do you do any other voice/puppet work? What a cool job!
It's nice having a bear about the house![]()
Yay, you played Paddington, that's wonderful!![]()
