We start our trip on the Eastern side of the mainland, in northern Vietnam for a game of tag with cheeky Northern White-cheeked Gibbons, going to the south of Laos to get style advice from the charming Pileated Gibbon & swing through the canopy with the bold Yellow-cheeked Gibbon. We continue south to Sumatra to race with the athletic Agile Gibbon, sail East to seek knowledge from the wise Bornean White-bearded Gibbon and head South to the bustling island of Java to share a meal with the grizzled Silvery Gibbon. Traveling South, then West along the Sumatran coast, we stay at the mysterious Mentawai islands, to be serenaded by the tenor male Kloss's Gibbons in the morning, and soprano females in the evening. Finally wrapping up our trip, we cruise North, dock, and hike deep into the jungles of Myanmar, to raise eyebrows with the friendly Eastern Hoolock Gibbon.

Bernie Goodwin is back again, and he wants monkey-business, in a another Planet Zoo Career Scenario. Reminiscent of your time in Madagascar, your task is to build a Javan primate paradise from the ground up, out of a palm oil plantation. You can still harvest the palm trees to get money, but with a new disincentive, if you make money from palm oil, there's a fee each year, increasing over time. It's a gibbon that you'll have a great time in this scenario!

I am bored, talking about monkeys, birds and south america bores me too so here have a cool underrated idear for a rig that they could copy, the meerkat.
Can we have another mongoose please?
Meerkats with their ~50 cm in lenght (25-30cm body, 19-24 cm tail) are quite the small member of the group with for example banded mongooses with their ~60 cm (30-40cm body, 18-31cm tail) or the even larger egyptian mongoose with ~95cm(50-65cm body, 33-45 cm tail) would offer some nice size alternatives while also expanding the mongoose range from just south africa to all of non tropical subsaharan africa and in case of the egyptian even parts of north africa and both iberia and turkey to make their way into europe and asia respectivly.
But the one id like to highlight and the one with the most recent rise in captive holdings is the dark cusimane, a small mongoose from tropical west africa where it lives in the thick underbush of tropical rainforests and riparian forests. Theyve been spreading quite rapidly through europe in the last 5 years with 7 zoos adopting them, most of them from Zoo Asson in france where they have the oldest modern holding in europe and are noted for their regular breeding. Also of interest could be that besides the 20 current holders around 20ish zoos kept them since 2006, but gave up on their holding which i do find quite interesting.
Regarding what makes them different from the meerkat, the differences are clear. While they might be in the same size class even if they weigh 1,3 times as much as the average meerkat, they have a far longer, scrubby, black and brown pelt aswell as an elongated snout, typical of a cusimane. They scurry along the forrest floor in large groups of 10-20 and are also capeable climber, even if they tend to stick to the ground, compareable to a coati. The main thing that they would add would be a simple yet effective choice for a small filler animal for tropical africa themed areas, as currently the aardvark is the smallest we can get and even then there isnt much overlapp between a burrowing anteater pig thing (i know that its part of afrotheria, this is a joke) and a mob of mongooses.

I want Frontier to reuse the prairie dog and make an alpine marmot. We still don't have any cold tolerant rodent in game! My former local zoo had alpine marmots and I enjoyed watching them.

Do zoos actually have bus tours? If anything, I'd hope this means a tram vehicle tour is feasible.
San Diego zoo bus tour is the most well known one for a typical tour around the zoo experience. Quite a few other zoos do have shuttle buses or tram rides that stop at central locations to cut down walking distances.

As far as I can think of so far, these would be my lists for each type:
🪳 Terrariums:
  • Snakes
  • Smaller lizards (geckos, anole, chameleon, frilled lizard, etc.)
  • Snails, cockroach, really small tortoises
  • Naked mole rat
  • Salamanders
  • Mice / rats
  • Ants (not sure how these would be implemented though as a species maybe buy them in batches of 5?)
  • Tenrecs (maybe?)
🐡 Tanks:
  • Any type of fish
  • Lionfish
  • Small sharks
  • Frogs
  • Seahorses
  • Axolotl
  • Jellyfish
  • Eels
  • Piranha (yes I know it’s a type of fish)
  • Octopus
  • Archerfish (these are so cool)
  • Lobster
  • Crawfish
  • Crabs
  • Sea stars (although these may turn out as props)
🦜 Small Aviaries:
  • Several types of bats
  • Flying fox
  • Budgies
  • Parakeets
  • Kookaburra
  • Hummingbirds
  • Toucans (maybe?)
  • Butterflies
  • Sloth (I still believe it belongs here)
Of course I don’t expect all of these and some of them I’m not sure if they would work out.
This is honestly pretty perfect TBH. Hah! Does all this just... Come to you? Or do you do research? Legitimately curious.
Sure, it's Changelist 24623734 (2nd of August, depending on time zone), and SteamDB Unknown App 3146420.

It hasn't been updated since then, and based on other DLC histories, it won't get updated until it's announced.
Helpful! Thank you! Was just wanting a way to check-in on that... Still wild that we've not seen any meaningful movement of late.

I can't express how happy I am that Frontier told us we were getting another animal pack. If it weren't for that, I would have assumed support ended already.
I think if not for the mention of a new animal pack, the forum would be really quiet after the barnyard pack backlash. Although its great we have something to go on with speculation but I really wish frontier would start teasing anything soon before we die of boredom lol.

This is 100% why they did it. It is the most information we have ever gotten and was entirely so that we didnt give up run the community into the ground and declare the game is dead.

I think there would have been action on here up through June or July. Then there would have been a period of 2-3 weeks of aggressive debate/arguing about whether the game were dead or not. Then mostly silence with the occasional person chiming in to ask if there was any news or SteamDB updates. Hah.

This is a better scenario. Much more positive…

The worst we have is debates about deer and dictionaries. And I’m still not sure why people don’t “get” the recent SteamDB updates to the release_trunk and branch files don’t mean anything but…. This is still preferable to the alternative hah.

I think the "influencers" of planet zoo are to blame for that, the popular youtubers say there is an update and oh wow big name says dlc coming soon it just be true. Someone comes here and gets shot down saying it's nothing lol.
