Hey im with you here. Personally i would also have prefered hanuman langur and rhesus macaque for india. But lion tailed macaque is still fantastic to get. And its for sure the most striking out of the trio, which probably is one of the main reasons it got picked.
india is pretty well known for its monkeys we may see more than one.
im still not sold on south asian animal pack being different enough from south east asian animal pack to be a viable name. The missing word being in the middle of the name south east asia animal pack already getting shorted by just about everyone a general lack of public awareness about the differences between the regions and a large number of shared fauna make the name not suitable.
Not to mention Southeast asia animal pack is also purple
north and south america are 2 word pack names that are well known and have the distinction at the start. Europe and eurasia are confusing in range but not in name as they are completely different names same with the others.
Why is a generic Asia Pack more likely than an India Pack in your opinion? Just asking, because the honey badger to me sreams more Indian then generic Asian. same with the Lion tailed Macaque. Not saying you are false tho, everything is possible.
While that is true I would argue that the average player that is still buying DLC is not the one that only know their ABC animals. Plus, I'd also argue WAY more people know about a Coati than a Binturong. Even my best friend, who loves going to the zoo with me once in a while and watches nature documentaries, knew what a Coati was, not a Binturong. Or a wombat.
Never underestimate Frontiers falsley research. We had donkeys without their destinctive back stripe, Tapirs with a too short nose....

Yeah your probably right but it is safer to assume the opposite and go as broad appeal as possible I do also agree that the honey badger isnt really well known enough to be the headliner but is either the most distinguishable from other packs headliners or truly is the most recognisable. I also highly doubt that at the time of eurasia this pack was planned otherwise the sloth bear would of been in this pack and the headliner because it felt misplaced in eurasia anyways.
Fair regional difference play a huge part. Looking at the barnyard pack (and argueably twilight) Frontier still seems to be focused slightly more on a european player base. I know we have a lot of animals from the americas, but there was quite a vocal part of US players who have never seen a raccoon or a skunk in a zoo. Twilight was named "the road kill pack", while for europeans, those were pretty basic zoo animals.
And the older the Americas Pack gets, the more I hate it that it includes north american animals. We had a biome with a huge biodiversity at hand and got... this. Now we are possibly looking at an India pack, a region that is (thankfully) already very well represented in the game, and now gets even more, unless they surprise us with a general asia pack, which I doubt.This is pretty realistic of how Frontier could make the pack
