Way back when Expansion packs where announced 6 month in advance with not much more info than a pack shot and we all still survived.
They gave us something to discuss and speculate about. They did a good job with it.

When I think of expansion pack I think of practically a whole new game, though. Playing Sims 2 Pets for example is way different than playing Sims 2 with no expansions. IMO, expansions are not too equivalent to DLCs of the modern day.
Has there even ever been a pattern?I hate it when they break the announcement pattern.

It's been mentioned by a few people already but not that surprisingly. It would be exactly in line with how the last two DLCs of JWE2 were handled, the timeframe is about the same.
Frankly if it's not today I'm expecting it either somewhere this week or next week; I don't see them teasing it months in advance given that they've never really done that before and with todays audiences that simply doesn't work anymore either.
Honestly it's quite simple, without a PC2 DLC on its way and with JWE3 being released in October something will get released during the summer slot. At this point in time this next PZ DLC looks like the most obvious candidate.

I know we aren't waiting months for a DLC announcement--realistically, at this point, it's a matter of days--but it's wild to tease something like that and then just leave the social media 100% inactive for ~2 weeks after rather than leveraging the potential momentum.
Then again, they're also probably trying to stagger it out a bit with the JWE3 announcement and give that a bit more room to breathe. Or people are on vacation. Or both. Or it's something else.

Even though I don't really want one because of what that slot could be used for instead... A new elephant with 2025 quality will be fun to see and a nice (albeit non-essential) variant of sorts.I think the Elephant will look great. Frontier is great with skin details. I have trust in them in this regard.
I won't hold the elephant accountable for what it isn't, but try to embrace what it is.
Same, even if I would preferably give the spot to something else, elephants are such amazing creatures, it is hard to be mad at them, haha.
Why a month and not a week?
Now that JWE3 has been revealed... Do you all think that Planet Zoo is over?
On the one hand, JWE2 came and went and didn't affect Planet Zoo.
But on the other hand, seeing the state Frontier is in right now, I wouldn't be too surprised if they simply abandoned Planet Zoo after this one pack

I don't think so. When they confirmed and released Planet Coaster 2, I thought that Planet Zoo was over, and look, they could have continued releasing more DLCs.
It still feels like the weirdest spot to end things. But maybe I just can't believe it because of the Coati debakel and I think it must come in some pack? I don't know.
What do you think? Is an announcement still possible today?
