No they dont, video games and RL are separate concepts.

I wish the guy 100% health in RL but have no issues of killing his imaginary spaceship in a children video game.

Not when said ship is doing what it is doing because of a RL situation they aren't, should Frontier do this any more is a worthy debate, but for now it is what it is.

As for your for the latter part of your second line, back to type I see. /groan

Really? So you have no issues with the tampering of a dying human beings wish? This guy has gone through hell, and quite frankly if you can’t see why it’s important as a member of the human race, especially in the current state of the world, to step back and let your personal goals take a back seat to that of a dying man, then I hope I don’t know you in RL. You’re clearly a person of limited moral standards.

"I got like 10 reps for this comment"
Is that the same as real ones?

We have no idea how many of those reps were pity ones either.

If it were me I'd sooner tell a date I sold drugs to kids outside a playground before I told them I scroll reddit all day looking for teh latest gamur dramaz.

Hey, that's not all they do. They copy and paste press releases to pass off as articles and stoke up fanboy wars (especially Eurogamer)

I just heard it on Lave Radio. This is unbelievable. And if you google it - search reddit -, the "people" responsible are known trolls. This goes WAY beyond any in-character excuse they could possibly make: these ...I can't write the correct name for what they are... should've been banned a long time ago.

A video game community come together - developers included, as they put it there, to begin with -, it's obviously a time sensitive matter, and these "trolls" try to ruin it for... giggles?

There's no excuse for this. if you think otherwise you're no better than the idiots who thought this would be "cool".

This was meant to hurt people on a personal level, and it has nothing to do with the game, characters, factions, whatever.

Yeah,

I may have gotten a little emotional about it but hell, this is something that is effecting a sad situation in real life, not just a charity stream. I really hope that the community can block the UA bombing to give a more positive outcome to this story.

I can't imagine what a soul-consuming job it must be to have to "report" on "relevant" video game drama as though it were news. What would it be like telling a first date that that's your job?
I thought they just scroll leisurely through their emails and such which are full of fans and stupid game devs wanting them to write something and pick at random.

Wow, I had no idea that UAs stacked. I just thought you had to deliver a certain amount and then the station "flipped" to infected, like a switch. How in the galaxy are so many UAs being moved such a distance? It's not like one can fill their regular cargo holds with these.

It takes some focus, dedication and (my opinion) a fairly warped mind. This would have taken a considerable effort, but it's doable. Your ship doesn't take damage when docked or in witchspace. With a big enough fuel scoop, you could limit your exposure in SC.

There are also ways to protect your ship from dumping the cargo, but we don't need to go into that here.

But yeah, it's a long way to do something that I can't wrap my head around.

And I bet you just kept playing your flight simulator on 9/11 too. Why the hell not right?

Its just a children's video game.

It's not a gaming story, it's a story about a charitable act for a cancer sufferer being trampled on. You think the press won't lap that up?

And you may not care what appears in the media but I promise you FDev's management will not be sharing your attitude when they're struggling to put together some sort of statement explaining how they let this happen.

Sorry, you are making too much of this .. it's a computer game .. I didn't see the Daily Mail kick up a storm when a charitable event was destroyed by stream killers (or whatever they are called) .. and that was making money for a charity that covered 1000's .. not one person.

I am. But it wasnt me who UA bombed this megaship but you can keep thinking that.

Hey,

I just wanted to step in and leave a quick post.

I understand that players are upset by the actions that have been taken. It's important to know that we are also upset and do not condone the actions of people trying to tarnish a fantastic and worthwhile community event. However, I would also say that calling out members of the community team as not being bothered is also very unfair.

Paige was the person that took the concept and worked with development to try and support a fantastic community initiative. She is equally as invested in the success of this voyage as the hundreds of Commanders taking part.

I understand that emotions can run high when actions are taken in such a way. But please do understand that this and the many other memorials that exist throughout the galaxy are a way of Frontier and the team celebrating and supporting the community to give them a permanent in game reminder of their loved ones. We are very pleased to be able to add these memorials in game as we feel this small service is of great value and comfort to those who have lost friends or family.

I think that by trying to shine a light on this issue, you are misunderstanding the level of thought and consideration that goes into making memorials like this possible and the care that the whole team have for our community.

On this specific issue, as many people have mentioned, if the shut down has happened because a player has used legitimate game mechanic then we would be looking (and supporting) Commanders using in-game mechanics to reverse this.

We are currently investigating to ensure that this was indeed done through legitimate in game means and not an exploit as well as other comments made from the Community. We will let you know once we have finished investigating the issue. In the meantime, could I ask that we remain considered in our responses and please refrain from directly targeting any member of staff for a game related decision.

Many thanks,

Zac

Good to hear you are not going to bow down to the oucries of these people and won't use the frontier magic stick.

Looking forward to hearing your guy's views on this whole thing when I listen to the show later tonight.

Its been a pretty disturbing morning/afternoon here, thats for sure.

Well, I hate to play devil's advocate, but if it has some special significance, FD should have protected it better. If I was into UA bombing megaships (I'm not, but if I was...) I might have done it completely innocently, because I had to google the significance, it's possible the UA bomber didn't know either. I realise this is a VERY unlikely scenario, but the point is it could have happened, by coincidence, so FD should have done something to prevent that coincidence, as well as the obvious possibility of griefer/dead_inside humans.

Or perhaps they thought, incorrectly as it turns out that the gaming community would support this motion, opposed to what happened, the realisation that to some, they will always hit a person when that person is down, at the lowest point of life, just because they can. Sorry but in my book, that’s just wrong. It’s not dev fault, is the fault of who did this. Well done ( not you btw) you’ve ruined a dying person’s dream. That’s it, no more words because I risk being banned if I really wrote here what I think of that person.

Tbh the only way the Mail will report on this is if its discovered that immigrant thargoids are involved or one of the Kartrashians is banging the megaship captain.
