Hopefully Frontier fixes the "disappearing stars" bug before DW2, or you are all in for a big and unpleasant surprise...

To be honest they sky boxes have always been broken with Elite, when I took trips to both Sag A and Beagle Point way way back they were pretty much broken.

This is a new, different bug, where the stars literally "disappear", to the point where you're just looking at a black sky. I've got screen shots in my bug report. The Bubble seems immune, but outside (where DW2 is heading) is a different story.

That said, I never was a fan of the Borg Cube star clusters :(

Hey CMDRS. I have posted on the main DW2 thread, but I thought I had better ask about the expedition here also, as a PS4 CMDR. I am having problems using the roster links with my phone. Can I just do everything through PlayStation Network? I really would like to take part. I applied to and was answered by ALLCROWSAREBLACK.
Thanks. o7

Seemingly you have a very peculiar version of PS4 as I read all your posts.

Applications are going through the roof CMDRs! Thank you so much for joining us in your droves!

This does mean it's taking a little longer to validate and process entries though so I hope you'll bear with us.

The roster will not be closing until we're well into the journey so don't worry if you feel like you're a little late to the party, you're not!

I’ve signed up today. Not sure what I need to do next and when so any pointers would be useful. Also I missed the link to be able to edit details not that I think I should need to.

Really looking forward to this. I wonder if FDev will surprise us with decals at some point, like they did for the original Distant Worlds expedition? I mean I'm not expecting them to, taking part and exploring with like minded Commanders is reward enough but it would be cool nonetheless :)

I think it is highly likely they will.

Welcome aboard! The main thing is to outfit a ship with 34Ly jump range, so you can get to Beagle Point without jumponium.

Anything more is QoL, but really it'd be good to know if you've done exploring before or not?

Laugh It Up, Fuzzball. When your stars start to disappear, then we'll see who's laughing ;)

Yeah this is seriously NOT funny. Experienced this my self last week. Please people, go out there. Jump around, like House of Pain told you to, and go check out what the space looks like after about thousand, maybe two, light years towards the center. I'd be interested to know how many others have this issue. I definitely have it, and it made me not want to explore at all before its fixed. And I totally love exploring now, with the new system.

It must be your PS4. You know, that "special" version that refuses to properly run just one very specific game from a British company called Frontier. [wacko]

(That icon isn't for you, Wellumus.)

UPDATE - this bug affects PS4 Pro as well :p

No PS4 science :(

Is there going to be anything for us PS4 scientists?

PS4 Sign-Up Procedure:
CMDRs! It’s less than a week now until we launch!

More and more of you are expressing an interest and that is wonderful and you’re all welcome!

There is a Private Group, PS Community and several PS message groups available for you all on the platform but in order to access those you will need to follow this process:

1. Sign up to the official roster here - https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showth...Sign-Up-Thread.
2. Send me a friend request on PSN mentioning;
Your roster No.;
If you would like to be left off the message group (you will be added by default); and
If you would like to be added to the PSN Community.

You will be invited to join the PG by default. Note that you do not have to join it. You are welcome to experience DW2 in Open, Solo, or in your own private groups if you wish.

Anyone wishing to be part of a DW2 PS Message group will need to ensure you have your privacy setting set to allow messages from people not on your friends list.

Please note that if you do not appear on the roster you will not be considered a participant in the expedition and will not be granted access to the available facilities

My PSN ID is Allcrowsareblack, as it is here and in Discord (#1653). Please feel free to contact me in whichever way works best for you if you have any questions.

I’m really looking forward to sharing this experience with you all! See you soon! o7

Hi all,

I'd really love to join in but have a couple of questions about the level of participation expected/required.

I'm getting married at the beginning of April and planning to emmigrate to Canada around August September, when I lilely won't have my PS4 with me for a while. This means that I'll have to spend periods away from the game after the summer.

If I join in for the first 7-8 months and then drop out tfor a bit (and find my way back home on my own when I'm back online) are other players/organisers going to get a bit peeved? I don't want to take up a place ahead of someone who can be more full-time, so to speak.

I read that the expedition averages at about 4,500 LY or so per week, which for my Krait Phantom is only around 75 jumps a week, not much at all, so I think I can always catch up easily if I ever fall behind.

Cheers

Hi! I hope you do join us! Would it help if told you we will hit BP in late May; after that it’s the return leg. Regardless of that, you are welcome always to pop in and out as it suits you. There will always be someone doing the same sort of thing and you’re unlikely to find yourself alone, unless of course you like it that way

Thanks, that's very helpful.

What attracts me about this trip is that in the 18 months of playing the game I've had almost no engagement with other players, to the point where I'm cosnidering starting all over again on PC; I think that there's a lot to be gained in the game from playing with other players and it's been hard to do that on PS4 (ED is only reason I pay for PS Plus!).

DW2 gives me a great opportunity to play with other players which was initially part of the game's attraction, for me [smile]
