This should have all the Twitch-streamers running scared in case the IRS start taking an interest. 😧
Wait a minute - do I have to include the weekly Arx income in my annual tax return now, as erm... intragalactic income?

Stop grinding for Arx. Just play the game normally and occasionally get yourself a free paint job. I don't see the problem with that.
The only problem is the huge amount of people who thought Arx would mean they get everything for free.

I guess I'm fine with it all because I acknowledged the reality: FD is a business, and well, we all know what businesses exist for...

In any case. It's only skins. They're not gonna' give your ship +100 armour.

Everyone needs to calm down.

Not gonna say I told you so but.... y'know. ;)

Presumably, things will retain roughly similar values, which'd mean decals that currently cost a quid will cost around 1,500 Arx and a paint-pack will cost 5,000 Arx.
That'll mean you can buy a free decal set each month or a free paint-pack each year.
Not exactly life-changing but it's better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.

More realistically, the free Arx will probably help top-up our funds so we don't have to spend more money just to get a few more Arx to buy summat.

I guess there's three ways to look at this.

1) People who never buy any of the cosmetics might get some free stuff from time to time. Seems nice.
2) Some people who do buy cosmetics might get a bit of a discount due to their play time. Pretty good.
3) Some people who may or may not usually buy cosmetics will be tempted to "top up" their in-game ARX with real money to get what they want. Good for FDev, more income. The player however maybe spent money they otherwise wouldn't have, just to get over the line so to speak..

I know 2 and 3 are takes on the same transaction - some ARX some cash - but how that person reacts to such spends is key. Is it bit of fun with trivial amounts (to them) of real currency, or is it a problem where they're spending more than perhaps they should. It's like a "I wasn't going to buy anything else this month, but I almost have enough game time ARX for [costmetic] so I'll top up with real money...just this once."

For me, ARX looks like I might get a free cosmetic from time to time. The other end of this is people feeling compelled to spend real money to top-up their ARX to get a particular cosmetic now, rather than just accrue the gameplay ARX's needed.

So, nice bonus or must spend real money to top-up ARX to buy sooner...

It'll be nice to get confirmation of ARX per hour and whether this just time in game or you have to be flying around. I also hope that ARX don't expire if not used in a set time, but can be hoarded over time.

Scoob.

Dang right.

Cosmetic skin sales was always the game plan rather than subs. The people feigning outrage at this "amazing revelation" just like moaning.

Scoob, are you aware that you are a reasonable person?

Of all the things that are going to be implemented (or not) in this update, bugs that need fixing, QoL updates that are needed. The thing that people are annoyed about is that Frontier won't pay the up front cost of the game in cosmetics vouchers quickly enough.

Personally I think a free paint job as a thank you for playing the game for a month is excellent.

I'm trying to work out if this thread is stupider than the 'why didn't my group get a free sticker like the Fuel Rats' thread... Nope that one still wins.

Look, cynicism over the idea that you can't buy just the number of ARXs you want so you end up over paying is fair comment.

Complaining that your not getting enough for free is pathetic, how entitled do you need to be to think FDEV should pay you to play the game?

At the end of the day think of it as a small earnable discount on cosmetics. Nothing more nothing less, not something to get over excited about or to throw toys out of the pram about.

I quite fancy some ship kit bits for one of my iCouriers.
If I can buy the parts individually over time fine. I've managed not to buy any so far.
So maybe it'll be a treat for me next christmas.
