Out of interest I tried setting the graphics in ED to use Oculus setting (and side-by-side) on my normal monitor (no dk2 attached) and the result was exactly the same as I observed using the dk2 with the weird skewing issue.
I've recorded and uploaded a
video from the first combat mission here
I would really appreciate if someone with a dk2 could take a quick look and confirm that this is NOT what they see when using the dk2.
Further more if any kind soul would like to maybe test using the dk2 without using Bilagos app or pausing the services using the new 0.4.1 sdk and tell me if the results are the same as those I recorded. If it doesn't produce the same results, perhaps someone might have an idea as to why this is happening?
I would really love to get to the bottom of this issue before I go back to my friends, since as I mentioned he's not too keen on messing around with his dk2 now he has it set up for his main game.
A few notes.
I've increased the brightness in post-production to make the asteroids more visible, so visually this does not represent the quality of ED. At the end of the first segment is a second segment where I set the graphics to normal for comparison.
As you can see it exhibits some weird skewing behaviour on everything rendered outside of the cockpit. You can see the effects are the asteroid field as it appears to compress/elongate as you roll the ship. You can also see it if you focus on the large asteroid in view at the edge of the screen. When it is on the left or right of the cockpit it is very long (vertically), when is on the top it retains it becomes squash vertically.
