Happy to help but I doubt it be needed ... Things running a lot smoother now :)

Hi guys,

Just got back from a business trip and tried 2.05 for the First time. Looks good, overall, but I'm still having massive CA issues. I had solved that in previous builts with the Reddit CA fix. Does anyone know if this still works ? I'd sure like to apply it because CA is truly annoying. Also, how do you disable the pre-flight checklist ?

Have you tried recentering the rift? Mine does the same and it looks nearly black. Almost like staring at a piece of fabric really closely.

My bigger problem is that the rift always starts up dull now. I have to wiggle the usb connector on the rift until the colours come back. Is it a hardware problem? I don't have this issue until I'm in the game proper. The frontier loading screen is full colour and no usb wiggling required, but obviously no tracking at this point in the loading sequence.

This dullness is the same you get if you look more than 45 degrees downwards. I think a lot of people get this? It's fine looking straight up or even behind though.

Hi mate,
I only got the pre-flight checklist once - the first time I played Beta 2.x. It took about 30 secs to complete and just involved pressing the key linked to the action (I think it even told me what key). Never seen it again since.

Ah ok. Just logged in once so far and completed it. Hopefully it won't appear again.

It's the positional tracking that causes this. If the rift sits for a while it'll get fudged somehow. I close all Oculus services and restart it. Fixes it every time for me. Also switching the view back and forth will sometimes fix it.

Ill sit it out... not much sense to play anyway when theres a wipe in 3 weeks.

Is it confirmed that there will be a wipe for B3?

Slightly OT: I tried Alien Isolation last night with the Rift. It picked up my "downsampling res" of 2560x1440 right out of the box and used it from the start. Graphics settings at "ultra", again, out of the box. It ran smooth as a baby's bottom (which is more than can be said for my heart rate). This is on my GTX770

Back to ED... although Alien Isolation is all small (but very detailed) corridors etc, it does show that there must be a lot of tweaking that can be done to ED to improve the performance on the Rift. Alien Isolation manages to have stunning visuals on the DK2, all at high fps. It's actually, imho, a worse VR experience than ED since it's an FPS so your body moves around and changes directions a lot, but being able to peer around corners is pretty amazing. It definitely tested my VR legs a few times though :D

well. sad to say, but I tried all advice ..and still the same blurry-ness....

no stutter , all smooth but very blurry.
I tried update firm ware

http://www.roadtovr.com/how-to-update-oculus-rift-dk2-firmware/

the nividea setting
and in rift settings.. still the same..
I tried landing . but was so blurry I couldn't judge my height ?

any advice on a direction to try .. most welcome.

if you see a sidewinder hanging around out side a station.. that will be me fiddling with settings.. come over and hoover in front . so I can use you as a
guide for close up visuals...... :)

I got a mic too so have a chat.........

It it just Elite you get this blurryness in?
Does it happen in other games/demos?

Guys you lot who's rift is coming today are gonna love the experience!

I've been playing with an Xbox controller and voice attack, no need for keyboard at all. It'll be even better when my hotas comes though

Managed to get about 2 hours last night and the latest build has really made it much more stable with only a couple of crashes.

The Rift does seem to be much better as things progress with minimal stutter and with a it of leaning text is more than readable.

When 3 drops at the end of the month and things settle down a bit and with a bit more optimisation I can see judder being reduced even further and the tweaks that some do (I haven't yet) i.e super sampling etc will make it a even better experience.

Oculus really should use ED as it's showcase game for it though, there really is noting out there that even comes close to these two when they are put together.

If at some point someone feels that a guide to tweaking the DK2 to improve the experience and they put it together, let me know and I'll see how we can get it on the forum for everyone.

Right hate to ask some apparently patronising questions, but your issue with the rift is strange..

Have you definitely peeled the plastic covers off the rifts lenses?

Have you cleaned the lenses?

Have you tried the B cups instead?

Do you have good vision, ie don't normally need glasses for reading or any other reason?

Sorry for the dumb questions. If you answer yes to all of them, and the blurriness is the same even in the config tool desk demo, I would get in touch with Oculus support.

Is it confirmed that there will be a wipe for B3?

Michael has said there will at least be a partial wipe for Beta 3, but a full wipe is also quite likely.

You can tell a lot of thought has been put into Alien Isolation for the VR experience, as everything is pretty much to scale. The corridors certainly feel suitably claustrophobic as well...feels like most of the time the player is never far from brushing their head on the ceiling.

The lighting effects are truly awesome.

And yes game runs very, very will on the Rift - I barely take any performance hit when comparing running on a monitor vs. running on the Rift.

Have you tried recentering the rift? Mine does the same and it looks nearly black. Almost like staring at a piece of fabric really closely.

My bigger problem is that the rift always starts up dull now. I have to wiggle the usb connector on the rift until the colours come back. Is it a hardware problem? What resolution are you running the game at?

I have found if the Rift isn't running at native resolution you will get dull colours. As the screen doesn't scale very well.

There are two ways to fix this:

1) Run the Rift at its native resolution.

or

2) Go to your graphics card control panel - and choose the Rift, then set it to use GPU Scaling (instead of Screen Scaling). The game will then use your GPU to scale whatever resolution you set...and this will fix the colour problem.

Also, how do you disable the pre-flight checklist ?

You can disable it via one of the settings on the right panel.

I had an email from Occulus saying it had been dispatched, that was 16 hours ago and it still hasn't shown up in the UPS tracker...

Me too, but a few weeks ago I saw people saying it turned up before the UPS site registered it. UPS are pants compared to DPD. With DPD you get texts saying "your parcel will be delivered by ALAN between 12:00 and 13:00 today". Its like science fiction!

I'm determinedly NOT getting my hopes up.

I might just go past our reception area though......just to check things out....
