I am guessing this run up to launch and until after christmas is going to be a really difficult load balancing time for FD. Problem is using Amazon servers is great but rapidly adjusting to demand changes can be expensive if you get it wrong and getting it right is easier to learn how to do in a particular usage case if you begin by erring on the side of caution, which means to begin with in testing the problem manifesting is usually that of too much demand not enough server.
I imagine they will err on the side of too much server around release and until the initial reviews are written, at least I hope they do....
Of course this is all based on my assumptions which are based on my experience, which is a bit out of date and probably out of context too...

well yesterday the server just stop at least 2 time in the day.
i was playing less than 30 min ago, charging time was triple the normal time, can't see mission cause can't obtaint the list from server.

maybe it's not all the server but some sure are in bad shape x)

Stuck on the spinning ship of doom right now. Edit : And got in game as soon as i posted this now let's see if i can do something.

Seems better now for me at least.
Edit: slightly better only... doing anything server related seems to take a lot of time.

Same thing here. I hope FD realise really soon that these drop outs will not wash when the game is released.

I'm getting the same issues, game hanging for up to a minute on entering an instance, hyperjumps taking much longer than usual, etc. Going to reconnect and see if that fixes it.

But I agree, server drop-outs and lag like this won't make for a good launch.

What happens when the servers shut down?

I don't really visit these forums much but ever since I heard about the removal of offline mode I really have to wonder, what happens when the game server dies? Do we get to roll our own servers like in Star Citizen?

Its really disappointing that the offline mode was removed, I thought it was a core feature. Seems like everything in this day and age is going full online. What happened to the good old days when you could hide in a empty campus room and have a lan party. Guess no travel + playing for me then lol.

Frontier have announced things that have been wrong or contradicted one and other. Plan for the servers to one day be shut down. If they release them to the public, be presently surprised.
