Happened on a few times i played yesterday afternoon.. but logged in again approx 10pm Sunday and the game ran sweet as a dream.

Might have a problem atm with a lot of players online (monday night early evening) Its beta as you already know...so a bit of stress testing the server, and players getting kicked etc..hopefully will flag up quick at the Devs end.
The Developers should be encouraged by the amount of players joining the Beta test, but on the other hand need to sort out the overload spikes with the server

Having the same problem, Malikon. Please let me know if you find anything out.

I actually was playing the night of Thursday, October 30 on Beta 3.02. The next night, I logged in, the patch downloaded and I updated the launcher. But all I got was 10-15 seconds of the spinning ship and then "Server Error: could not connect to server. Press ok to return to main menu."

After I return to the main menu, the "Start" button is red-out and not clickable until I restart the game. Tried to login about 20 times the last few nights. No luck.

I did not change my network configuration between Thursday and Friday night. I tried what AndyB suggested above with no luck. Made sure UPnP was enabled on my router as per the advice of another user. It was, so no luck.

I tried what AndyB suggested in another thread, validating my game files and then logging out of the launcher on my machine so that I could receive another activation code by e-mail. Made sure UPnP was enabled on my router as per AndyB's advice. It was, so no luck.

I'm getting this error quite often at the moment but every time I go back to the desktop I find my PC has lost IP connectivity which comes back after a few minutes. So I think it's a local issue for me but I just wanted to check that no one else is losing the ability to see other sites at the same time. Anyone got the same symptom before I take my recently purchased powerline devices back?

You are not alone. My router lost connectivity twice whilst playing last night. Like you I thought it was a local thing. Not so sure now.

Well, let's be careful. It's still more likely to be a local issue but certainly worth asking for a bit more input from others getting disconnected. Also some more trouble-shooting needed with regards to where the issue is (Router/PC/Cable/NIC etc).

Any more input?

There's a bug with missions that causes this behaviour - one fix that has worked for me and others in the past is to do one of the tutorial missions and then go back into the online game.

I really hope so, that bug has been bugging me since 3.0 :s

Sadly no: The update has a fix for performance issues on busy servers.

Server down ship speculation

Well the server is down so whats teh plan for the two ships in this pic that aren't released yet?

The first ship looks cobra sized and doesn't look like a trader.

The 3rd ship is smaller than the viper, might be the adder, how will that be a viable ship?

Tumbleweeds going through here.
Did the servers go back up and no one told me?

Curse you guys.

That third ship really has me thinking, whats it for?

It can't be a better fighter than the eagle and it can't be a better transporter than the hauler.

It also can't be much bigger than the sidewinder.

*edit. well looks like the server is up

In the proud tradition of Elite - I'm betting it's a shuttle. Since we don't really need another small trade ship, perhaps that one comes preconfigured for passenger transport? You know, like we have Hauler->Type6->Type9, for passengers we could have Shuttle->Dolphin->Orca...

Check my updated comment on that post. I am convinced the problem is not actually the game and something is blocking connections either at ISP-level or possibly wonky upnp (which manually setting the port and forwarding would fix). If you can post your netlogs from the game folder it should give a clearer picture of exactly where it is failing.
