The weekend was poor but it was ok Monday / Tuesday. At the end of the day though its worth remembering that the role you agreed to undertake stops at telling them that something doesn't work, it doesn't extend to berating them for not telling you every last detail of what is happening. It's pre-release and thus we have zero entitlement to it working all of the time. Raise a ticket and go read a book, if they get back to you bonus, if not tough to be honest.

i dont understand why so many apologists for frontier. The servers here in USA were down with huge crash Sunday and down again Tuesday morning. It was so bad Frontier released a minipatch to fix it Tuesday evening. There r hundreds of posts on the forum complaining about it, HUNDREDS, or more including many threads. I do agree this is BETA, but all OP is saying to Frontier is keep us informed. These crashes in busy days, weekends and a holiday, and all the bugs, dont bode well for release when thousands more will be on servers. i hope Frontier us prepared.

Anyone saying"I had no problems, so there was no problem" is not cognisant with the facts. There was definitely a problem within FD'ssphere of control for those of us in North America. I believe it was a router problem, or possibly a server went down yet kept its internet connection intact.

Yes we're in Beta. No big deal right now.

But it was FD's decision not to provide any offline-only mode, other than tutorials. FD will get slated if they show this lack of communication post-release. Rghtly so. Better to learn this now than later.

No, just no need to test an offline mode. They can do that themselves. Online is what needs testing.

Offline mode is coming with release... at least I certainly hope so! It was promised two years ago.

Agree Juniper! It was promised; I'd be very upset if 'Offline mode' wasn't available...

I suppose I could wait a couple of weeks and have it as DLC; but of course that was not what was 'Kickstarted'.

A post a couple of pages said that using traceroute showed that the failure for that CMDR was somewhere in Massachusetts. That is unlikely to be in FD's sphere of control but could certainly impact many in the US if a backbone connection had an issue.

I clear page telling the status of the servers is what's needed and I hope we see it soon.

I've had zero problems connecting since 3.00 so i'd say your issue isn't the servers... How you fix that i've no idea.

When the message is "server unconnected" the issue is the server. I had no problem until my tracert hit the actual server IP so, yes, indeed it WAS the server. Those of us in different countries are also on different servers, it would seem, as since the update the IP has changed.

It doesn't take more than a simple forum search to see I'm not the only one.

I'm NOT expecting perfect server uptime and those of you taking this stance are actually the ones being very ignorant. ALL I ASKED FOR was a simple ACKNOWLEDGEMENT of the issue.

Loose the attitude bud. You criticise the devs for lack of communication when they have just released a patch in relation to server issues. Then you make a comment about respect for players and then make a snidey comment about 30 year veterans. Way to go, neg rep inbound.

Yay! Negative rep for reporting a problem that plenty of people have acknowledged. I don't really care, nor do I think that respect is simply not calling bull when you see bull. I've had plenty of "veterans" slap down a comment because they blindly allow what is otherwise considered unacceptable behavior due to the fact that they worship this game. It's all over this forum.

The point I was making was simple: you're having problems, you know you're having problems, you've been contacted multiple times via the support pages and Twitter and have had plenty of time to say, "yeah, we're working on it". That's a simple request.

And yes, I criticize lack of communication because releasing a patch on Wednesday when the problems began on Sunday night without ever once acknowledging said problems is indeed lack of communication.

You can tell me to drop the attitude, but I'm not asking for perfection, just a simple acknowledgement that they know there is an issue.

There is a particular IP for a particular server that appears to be completely offline at the moment which was the one causing issues for those of us in the US. For those curious, the particular server that is now missing is this one: 176.34.199.147 which, as you can easily view here: https://www.whatismyip.com/ip-whois-lookup/ is an Amazon AWS cloud server in Ireland.

The IP was unavailable for much of the last 72 hours.

Here's four posts from the forums, among others, where people here were reporting being affected:
https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=57694
https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=57508
https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=57539
https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=57669

And a Reddit thread:
http://www.reddit.com/r/EliteDangerous/comments/2lvzf6/111014_1340_cst_current_server_experiencing/

And a current Reddit thread, but for a different IP (IPs?) - note that there's no acknowledgement of this, either:
http://www.reddit.com/r/EliteDangerous/comments/2m3rcb/server_is_down_5474108179/

Now, if you'd like to talk technically about whether or not there was really an issue, I'd be happy to discuss. Until then, stop the flaming.

EDIT:
After multiple IP testing, it would appear that not only is the specific IP/port 176.34.199.147:19364 offline, but both that port, port 80 and port 8080 are closed, which means no HTTP connections, which means no internet requests. The server is, and has been down for some time.

Server... yeah... you know that MP is on P2P connections? ^^

It will be a nightmare for download servers though! ;)

Well, there is the matter of the servers handling matching. I expect in the first days, we will see a lot of people posting that they are not seeing any other players. I think this will be due to the fact that the player matching is getting overloaded and that most people will just go on playing unmatched until they can scale up.

I read somewhere that some of the servers which handle environment simulation and such like (and stories etc) are client/server...

May or may not happen. This was already tested when Beta went active and there were server issues. But I expect FD learned and improved. Still there is only so much bandwidth and maybe 100,000 plus players. Not to worry as you will eventually connect. Last time I came in 40 hrs after the release and downloaded without any issues. What is a short delay in a game we will be playing for years.
