Release EDEngineer - an overlay to track your blueprint progress in realtime

Well I'll need first to add the new materials which should be pretty straightforward as well as update the rarity of the ones which changed as described here : https://www.reddit.com/r/EliteDange...eyond_30_beta_2_changes_to_engineers/dthrh67/

I'll also need to think how the material trader will impact the shopping list but that's a bit tricky. I thought about adding a checkbox to ask the user whether he wants to include other materials that can be traded for the ones required in the shopping list but the visual changes to show progress on this might be difficult to UX design (I really want to keep it simple/stupid). A user might also want to include specific materials in the list of ingredients he's willing to trade while excluding others (that he wants to keep for some reason, like it's in a blueprint or synthesis he often wants to craft).

Anyway the reference data update shouldn't take long to do and deploy (it's mostly updating the json I generated) but the other features (the important ones to be honest) might not drop sooner that most expect.
 
And the new experimental effects looking more important now.
Seems we have no tools to track them within the game.

The tech broker are similar, but not as important because they are a one time unlock and not used on a regular basis.

I don't post very often on game forums, but I have to agree with others, your tool is excellent and I use it constantly. Finding it a little challenging to play at the moment without it tracking all materials etc.

Looking forward to the next update you release.
 
For now I am using INARA with marked connector to keep my inventory up to date. Works in realtime.
They are already including experimental effects and all other stuff.
It's not as convenient as this tool, but I can use it on my iPad while playing. That's very nice.
 
By the way, the current version is still (mostly) working, even though it doesn't recognize some of the new mats.

The one thing I've seen that actually doesn't work is using a Material Trader. EDEngineer doesn't see the transaction at all.

I'm just going in and manually changing values after using a Material Trader, for now. But I figured I should mention it here :)

I've updated the app with what I think was the most urgent for 3.0, let me know if everything's smooth.

Those who want to help are welcome to contribute to the blueprint file if they notice any change. Technology trades can also be added in here, I'd suggest using a "magic" engineer name like "@Technology" just as there is an engineer named "@Synthesis" for synthesis blueprints in the file.
 
Not able to launch. It updated but after that I can´t launch it. It seems to run for a while but after a couple of seconds the process quietly ends.

@iFred I think I solved the issue, it was discussed on GitHub here https://github.com/msarilar/EDEngineer/issues/310 and I've published a hotfix

@picommander great! the last thing remaining (besides the updates to the synthesis and technology which should be added to the blueprints) is the experimental effects. I need to find a simple way to show the information both in the blueprints list (progress on some specific experimental effects) as well as in the shopping list (to let the user add a blueprint *with* an experimental effect). it's going to be a bit tricky but I'm sure I'll come up with something.

Thanks for the update. Very nice. :)

Two things:

1. "Chemical Storage Units" is called "LAGERUNGSEINHEITEN FÜR CHEMIESTOFFE" in german ED client. But in EDEngineer it's called "CHEMISCHE LAGEREINHEITEN". This means the same, but it's not the correct name.

2. Since a long time I get no more "Windows toast" messages from EDEngineer. Maybe it have to do with the last Windows 10 upgrade?

I have a litte problem here. With the last 5-6 releases my ED Engineer became sooo slow graphically, in every click, every windows to pop up... It's not my pc (for sure, its a xeon with a 980ti...) Any idea?

EDIT: found it... my log dir was a bit gigantic from early 2016 till today :) solved

I love your App. It fills a much needed gap in the ED landscape! But is there any chance of getting a 'minimise' or 'minimise to task bar' option? I apologise if it's already there, but I'm stuffed if I can find it.

As an aside, should it install a shortcut? I'm also stuffed if I can find that, or the installation folder to manually create one when it comes to that.

Picky stuff, I know, but that's me ;)
 
Cannot install it I d/l the file setup.exe, when I run it windows says "Your administrator has blocked this application because it potentially poses a security risk to your computer" then at the bottom "your security settings do not allow this application to be installed on your computer." I have tried everything including disabeling my AV and taking ownership of the file.

Save the setup.exe, right click, properties, "Allow" and "run as admin" (or however its called in english). Should work.

1. I know it is not needed in 3.0, but I did like the totals we used to get for MATERIALS and DATA(written under them) :)
2. Just handed in a mission and instead of Credits , I accepted Credits + 3 MEF(Mod Emb Firm) , you app hasn't updated yet(7 or 8 mins so far)
 
I've noticed that when using a Trader that totals don't get updated immediately. This doesn't happen following a restart of the app or the game, but eventually, the goals DO update.

And once again, HUGE thanks for this brilliant utility.

Thanks for posting the fix. Ironically I just solved this on my own and decided to post the fix when I saw that you already had posted it!

YES - seems a recent Windows corruptdate changed the registry settings.

I wouldn't mind it so much if they at least gave a clearer way to select what they were hiding under the hood.


To fix - Open regedit

Find - "HKLM\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\.NETFramework\Security\TrustManager\PromptingLevel\Intnet" and change from Disabled to Enabled

so latest update is pretty big, I've scrapped the data from many sources in order to add technologies from technology brokers as well as experimental effects (they'll appear in different colors just like synthesis appear in light blue)

I've also added an experimental feature which will try to sync your shopping list with what you craft in game. It will match ingredients consumed with any blueprint in your shopping list, look at the type as well and check for experimental effects as well. It's kind of fuzzy unfortunately so it might not find the blueprint in your shopping list or remove the wrong one. Let me know if you see anything wrong :)

please open an issue on github with your logs attached, I thought the mission reward handling was working already

Uh-oh. That means my numbers are all FU. When I noticed ED Eng didn't update the numbers as I used the mat trader, I figured it just didn't do that (yet). So I manually changed ED Eng to the right amounts.

Do you mean that there's just some lag between when you use the mat trader and when ED Eng updates? If so, how long is it?
