Release EDEngineer - an overlay to track your blueprint progress in realtime

Hey there, first of all, great work with this app and thank you very much :)
I do have a strange issue though that i just cant figure out, after an os reinstall the app will only launch once after installing it and after closing it i can neither reopen, nor reinstall it unless i uninstall, reboot and then reinstall.
i keep getting a message stating "EDEngineer is already running, you can bring it up with your shortcut (Ctrl+F10)". Watching taskmanager while opening the app reveals that it starts a ClickOnce process, as well as ED Engineer, but immediatly closes the latter one after clicking ok on the error, leaving only the ClickOnce process. Killing that and retrying results in the same error, so does killing it and reinstalling without a reboot. I have tried everything that is suggested on the GitHub troubleshooting page, with no apparent effect.
On the old OS installation it was completely fine. Sadly that one is no longer available.
I would really appreciate any help on this matter, i myself am running out of ideas :(

PS:
OS is Win 10 Pro 64bit

Seems I get this error every time I update, but do update, EDE refuses to see player journal.

Try to use windows key and type "ede" to make the program show up, launch, refuses to see player journal.

Have to search computer to find true install location (C:\Users\Malic\AppData\Local\Apps\2.0\WZQL8JAN.VCG\YMVMJB6L.NR4\eden..tion_b9c6c2d0b4f2eae5_0001.0000_c2d9b644e86304e3)

Launch directly from there to then get it to read journal and show mat count.

I am and others that watch my stream have this issue on every update.

launch, refuses to see player journal.

what do you mean by that exactly? (if you happened to stream while the error showed up, I'd be curious to see with a timestamp'd link)

also, what's the version that shows up here:

latest version is 1.0.8.9
if you cancelled the update, it will come back in ~1 week (unless you uninstall and reinstall manually yourself before)

Update still fails. Stuck on 1.0.8.8

If I re-do fresh install will I have to re-edit data totals?

I'd prefer not to get stuck into doing that for each update.

THX

could you try and go to internet options:

then click on Trusted Sites / Sites, and in this window:

add *.githubusercontent.com (or raw.githubusercontent.com if this doesn't work)

that might do the trick; alternatively you can follow these instructions too:

in the Internet Options window, go to the Security tab then Custom Level button.
Under ActiveX ensure the following are set to enabled:
* Run ActiveX and plug-ins – Enabled
* Download Signed ActiveX Control – Enabled
* Script ActiveX controls marked as safe for scripting – Enabled

Set the following to "Prompt":
* Download unsigned ActiveX Control – Prompt
* Initialize and script ActiveX controls not mark as safe – Prompt

this could help too

Hmm its probably somewhere in this thread, but I can't find it. How do I delete a CMDR to show up in EDENGINEER? I had one of my CMDR's renamed and the old name keeps showing up.

Bug - App does not understand monitor layout.

I have 3 monitors. My primary monitor is 3440x1440. My secondary monitor is positioned at 3440,0 and is 1920x1080. I have a third monitor positioned at 2640,1440 and is 800x600.

EDEngineer always shows up on my second monitor (the one to the right of the 3440x1440), but acts as though that monitor has a vertical pixel count higher than 1080. Upon restoring the window, there is a gap between the top of EDEngineer and the actual top of the 2nd screen. This does not happen if I disable my third monitor.

If I have been unclear, or any further information is needed, please let me know and I'll assist as best I can.

This is still an issue.

@Ervig: you'll have to delete the logs for your previous name ; either delete all your logs if you don't care about history or delete logs specifically older than the date where you got your rename (make sure of it by opening the most recent file you're going to delete, your old cmdr name should be in the header)

@Trekari: not sure what could be wrong, I've tried the app with a 4 screens setup and it got displayed fined ; try to launch it in windowed mode (the app remember what mode it was in every time you shut it down), that might help

As was mentioned, my only issue is it would be better to have only started items show as a yellow filled in star (rather than a grey box with a star) and non-fav's as just a empty star.

Other than that it seems to work great. Of course, until 3.0 is unleashed as was just mentioned...

yeah I planned a few things for 3.0:
* remove the thresholds & material/data full warnings
* group ingredients into their respective categories (based on this post and this list/)
* I'll need to look into how the material trader thing work (I don't really play the game anymore and haven't followed the news, keeping in mind that even what's currently in beta might not make it into the live game) to see if this can be implemented in EDEngineer

obviously in an ideal world nobody would need this app but if the game still lacks a way to track blueprints and progress easily then I don't mind keeping EDEngineer up to date from time to time ;)

EDEngineer will probably always be relevant. Absolutely fab app. Great work.

If I wasn't already volunteering to help maintain EDDI, I'd certainly consider volunteering to help maintain EDEngineer. :)
Shifting to other games is totally understandable. I just wanted to add my thanks for this beautiful app - it's definitely a must-have for me when I'm engineering or trying to manage my materials!

@CMDR HG

Hi

I use your tool since summer 2017 as I started again with ED after a very long break (because of our own game project) since ED-beta 2014.

For me your EDEngineer is one of a very few must-have tools I am using permanently with ED. I am a developer too and I am impressed how professional EDEngineer is. And I like all features your tool offers. Especially the shopping list is very helpfully and cool. And also the tresholds and notifications helps me to manage all materials/data.

I have a little suggestion: an option to hide all ingredients not used in any blueprint. Maybe a checkbox at the place with the radio buttons for "all, raw only, manufactured only".

Anyways, thank you for this great tool!

HG, is there anything we can do to help once 3.0 drops to make it easier to make changes to ED Engineer for the new version?
