Release EDEngineer - an overlay to track your blueprint progress in realtime

Uh-oh. That means my numbers are all FU. When I noticed ED Eng didn't update the numbers as I used the mat trader, I figured it just didn't do that (yet). So I manually changed ED Eng to the right amounts.

Do you mean that there's just some lag between when you use the mat trader and when ED Eng updates? If so, how long is it?

Interesting ; it could mean that there's a lag between the moment where the action is performed by the player and when the entry is added to the log. Afaik there's (almost) no delay between a published event to the journal and the integration of the event in EDEngineer, so if it's not in the logs then there's no way for the app to be aware of it. Seems surprising though ; how big is your log folder?

You're awesome mate. Not playing the game anymore(?) and then such a good job! :)

No worries :) Yes I don't play anymore although I'll probably try the 3.0 when I feel like it. Also make sure to restart as I've published a hotfix (no release notes) which fixes an issue with the shopping list sync feature (also some animations and the experimental effects for modules which I forgot as I only added the weapon experimental effects in the first place).

I think I was using the mat trader before the ED Eng release yesterday where you added "handle mat event". So I think it makes sense that mine was not updating.

From what Idirian said, I thought that there was a lag issue with the version you released yesterday to handle the mat trader. I have not tried to use the mat trader today with v1.0.9.4. I will try it out and report back.

Also, I can't find a "log folder" in ED Eng or Frontier or user folders. Where is the folder/file you are referring to?

Very nice update! Since I am doing mostly conversions at the moment and only adding an experimental to my G4s, the experimental addition was very welcome indeed!

Question though; what is this unlock checkbox? It says "Sensor Fragments (0/25)" to unlock Palin for me. I have him at G5 though. What have I missed?

Ok, I just did a mat trade (Data Trader). ED Eng didn't update at all. I am on version...oh boy, somehow, I'm still on version 0.1.8.4. ED Eng itself says "last update 2018-03-04...". I thought that meant it updated at that date/time, but that must just mean that was the last time HG updated the app. Obv, I've missed some updates somehow, as ED Eng used to check/update when launched.

Am I hosed now, as I don't see a way to force an update? If I run the install from github, will that wipe the data I have now?

edit*: So I went ahead and ran the setup file from github. I am now on 1.0.9.4 (current). All my data/mat levels are up to date and correct. I used the data trader in game, and ED Eng updated about 2 sec after. In short, it's working fine, no problems.

Pretty sure he means your journals, usually located in 'C:\Users\xxx\Saved Games\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous'

I found a minor problem.

Guardian Module Blueprint Segment is showing up under Materials instead of Data. It's being counted correctly, though.

Love this app, it's very helpful.

Just though I'd open up ED eng. today to see if, on the off chance, it might have been updated and low and behold it has and it's freekn awesome thanks man!

Hello Guys,

Just downloaded and upgraded to latest version and noticed that my totals for Data and Mats are not increasing when i get mission rewards. Also the shopping list totals don't go up on Mission rewards.

However, the totals increase when i collect Data/Mats from USS. Not tested Mining or SRV surface collection. I can't use ED Engineer in this state guys as i am hammering the missions to get my high value resources up. All my totals are now out as i only noticed this about 20 mins ago from updating yesterday.

Any Advice?

Thanks Guys, been using EDEngineer since almost its incarnation.

Is there a version later than v1.0.9.1?

On this version, I've noticed that if you trade materials at a Materials Trader, it deletes any gained materials instead of adding them. In my case, proto light alloys and proto radiolic alloys (I can't remember what I traded for them unfortunately). EDEngineer now thinks I can't engineer my lightweight heatsinks, while the in-game GUI reads right. I'll let you know what it thinks after I actually engineer them ;)

Edit : Yup, that also deletes. I now have -4 proto light alloys and -8 proto radiolic alloys after engineering my heatsinks

yes, latest version is 1.0.9.7
many issue fixes including material trader issue as well as the mission completed problem Wasp0 was talking about

keep an eye on https://github.com/msarilar/EDEngineer/releases and https://github.com/msarilar/EDEngineer/commits/master ("hotfix" means an update that doesn't warrant release notes nor to be in the releases)

Yes, thank you for the quick Bug Fix, much appriciated, all working now. Hey do you fancy applying for the FD bug fix team? I hear they have quite a few at the moment and are their usual SLOW response! :) ;)

no well you got to keep in mind that my bugfixes are quite simple and straightforward :) I'm also a single dev on that app so whenever I want to do something I just do it and I don't have to go through any project management, reviews, QA and whatnot (also means that sometimes I can push stuff that doesn't work or simply breaks :cool:)

Regardless, you do a damn fine job, with what is IMHO, THE best 3rd party add on for ED. I know FD are under pressure, but they always on every release, take 4 steps forward and 3 backwards, and with this latest 3.0 release we are seeing bugs that appeared in earlier releases, that were fixed, but have re-appeared again.

Who am I to preach, i know nothing about coding, i just play the game!!

Anyhows HG, keep up the great work.

There seems to be a bug with the "unlock" items. I am currently showing The Sarge, Ram Tah, Tiana Fortune and Professor Palin as unlocked. Each show percentage complete equivalent to the amount of items I have in my storage.
Issue is, I have unlocked all the Engineers already, so they really shouldn't appear for me.

Not a big issue, as you have to tick the box to see them, just thought you'd like to know.

Hi HG. I noticed ED Eng doesn't have the info for the Power Distributor, G4,5 for Weap Focus, Eng Focus, Sys Focus. If you could add them that would be great.

Thanks for the info!
Feel free to update the blueprints file I curated for the application : https://github.com/msarilar/EDEngineer/blob/master/EDEngineer/Resources/Data/blueprints.json
You'll see that it's a simple array of objects separated by commas, and they're pretty straightforward:

Code:
  {
    "Type": "Plasma Accelerator",
    "Name": "Short Range Blaster",
    "Engineers": [
      "Zacariah Nemo",
      "Bill Turner"
    ],
    "Ingredients": [
      {
        "Name": "Modified Consumer Firmware",
        "Size": 1
      },
      {
        "Name": "Nickel",
        "Size": 1
      },
      {
        "Name": "Insulating Membrane",
        "Size": 1
      }
    ],
    "Grade": 2
  }

You just have to be careful with the names (ingredients, type, engineers) and use the exact same as other blueprints (same casing, no dashes etc..)
