My feedback about the patch:
First off, thanks for patching errors daily! Some good ones here, and nice to see exploration got more attention too. I was hoping to see a part which said that level 2 and 3 detailed scans were fixed, but I guess that's not high on the priority list.

I'm mostly putting off playing until the bug where turning in bounty and warzone vouchers does not reward rep is fixed, though. (Oh, and Imperial rank progression would be nice too. But I'd be happy if I could earn rep through combat first.) A friend of mine is the same, just with trading: not really playing until that's fixed.
Regarding trading, for me it's a bit sad to see that rare commodities are just becoming a curiosity, instead of a viable career of trading. But I haven't checked the changes yet, so I'm not sure about this. Personally, I wouldn't mind if they were viable to transport in up till a Cobra, but in not a T6 or above.

Okay, false positive alarm. After a new tick, the rare supply is now blank. 10 tonnes was my lot. Forget everything I said before.
(Also, can't edit my own posts for some reason)

As the changes are coming with a new patch, it would take one to fix the current "Rare BUG" too.

Aw, the "docking request denied" problem was not fixed :-(

I'm sitting outside a space station right now, no players there, no NPCs either. Nothing. "Docking request denied" all the time.

Are they replenishing to anybody else as well?

Not after this 1.02 - I was sat in Eranin waiting on the Whiskey with half a hold - but it does seem like its designed now to just provide a single tick to each pilot then set to zero supply and no longer update. Am in two minds on this:

1. Yeah lets face it, waiting in stations for hours worth of ticks to fill a hold is terrible gameplay - I think we all know this. Now it seems like the rares are simply a bonus for a starting pilot to fill up and go 160 light years to earn 80,000 - 160,000 credits. Its fairly good incentive still.

But.

2. It is a shame that that the normal trading is so broken that rare trading appeared the best option. I'd much prefer to be developing routes around a personal base and building standings and area knowledge but until the basic trading engine starts working normally again (high demand and buy prices above GA) then trading seems a bit of a dead duck.

Ah well, won't miss the sitting in a station for six hours to fill up a 100 tonne hold game! :)

Sooo...rare goods - the cat is well and truly amongst the pigeons on this one.
.
At the risk of being lynched by the rabid rare-goods ragers (catchy, eh?)...the old rare items systems (both of 'em) were obviously broken, and if you chose to take advantage of a broken mechanic and exploit it for cash, then good luck to you - but stop crying now its gone and maybe just be thankful that FD have merely nerfed this, instead of going ahead with that full wipe at game release or rolling the game back so you lose all your ill-gotten dosh.
.
Yep, trading as a whole is a bit wobbly right now and will (hopefully) be brought up to speed - but it does work, so losing the ability to press a key every ten minutes for eight hours, then flying ten systems away to sell is NOT a game breaker.
.
To those crying that you can't maintain your super-expensive ships...well, I'm afraid that perhaps if you'd acquired the cash to buy 'em in a, shall we say, more rounded way?...you'd have acquired the skills along the way to pilot them through a fight without incurring a massive rebuy cost, hmm?
.

.
Finally, when reading a ragey rare goods post, try substituting any instance of the phrase 'rare goods' with 'free, easy money'.

"This game is no fun now you taken away the rare trading" becomes "This game is no fun now you've taken away the free, easy money."

.
Which kind of puts it all in perspective.

Flame away, if you think it will make you feel better.
.
.
.
p.s. - please fix Maestrom! :)

When they have finished destroying the trade side of the game I'm sure mining/exploring and bounty hunting will be as forceibly "improved TM"
Well normal trading is broken and now rares are not worth doing, so it can't be long until they start on the next 'improvement'.

2 months ago, i would have jumped you for your post.
But seeing and experiencing every step of 'improvement' so far, there is nothing more for me to do than agreeing and repping.
This is so sad.

- After yet another discussion with the rare commodity producers, Commanders should now be eligible to only purchase rare goods up to their own personal allocation, instead of buying everybody else's ration as well.

Instead of being cryptic and funny about a change. How about explaining it? As I read it now I interpret it like this:

Previously CMDRs were able to buy the full load at a station, and nobody else could until a restock.
With this patch, you made sure everyone gets a restock everytime?

But what is really happening is that once you buy the stock, it NEVER replenishes anymore after waiting a few ticks...

Nah, I'm still getting that right now. 3 ppl on my friends list online, and can't send text to any of them.

Of course, I am 340 LY from Sol, but surely Vodafone Galactic Comms should be good enough... :)

I'm in LHS 3447 and just tested chat to you. got error: Transmission not sent: unable to connect to Elvis :)

I've been in since Beta 1 and I have never complained until recently about anything and I'd be jumping with you.

All my childhood feel good warm feeling for Elite is slowly but surely fading away as the ways I enjoy the game fade away.

Regarding the rare trade nerf. I can see why they did what they did. When you have a fitted transport with 19ly jump fully loaded, it takes less than 1 hr to make 1 mill profit. That's too much too fast. Overnerfed perhaps, but that is what we have tuning for.

Hi Stalker

Thanks a lot for this - the detailed examples really help. I thought I'd just let you know the dev team really appreciate it and are looking into sorting it right now. They intend to be watching this thread all afternoon for this sort of thing - they've got eyes and ears everywhere that lot.

Talk to your community!!!
If you state your (the teams) intentions were to monitor this thread, then let ppl know, that you are doing so!
It is an update and you asked for feedback, after all you should give your community at least the FEEL that you care about the feedback you sought.

Tuning? The game has been released! They should've done game breaking tuning in the beta's.

There's no possible way you could make 1 million in an hour. This is false.

It would take 45 minutes of travel time (ignoring anything on the way, no refueling, no interdictions), and for an Asp with 100t cargo, about 15 "ticks" to fully stock up. Each tick = 10 minutes = 2 hours.

Hi everyone,

- Universal Cartographics has issued a new purchasing policy, so Commanders exploring supermassive stellar bodies should no longer receive supermassive payouts.

Ed

Does this mean that, if I scan for example 40 Stellar-Objects in about 30 Minutes, I will now earn the same money like just scanning 4 of them in 2 Minutes?

Why should anybody keep spending time on exploring new star systems, when the reward is only a couple of hundred instead of a couple of thousand credits?

Where is the Joke? Is Frontier now starting to ruin all about exploration, after they finished ruining allmost any stellar and interstellar trading routes?
