this changes nothing. is like:

"Oh i cheated on you, sorry, wasn't my intention, everyone of X group thought it would be no problem so i did, plus i put some effort to it (since i knew i was going to be back right?!), but this don't invalidades the group the whole point was chart, NOT PUT MY NAME ON THERE, but since it was possible the first thing i did was rush back to the bubble and sell the data :) "

Get a grip... this is ridiculous. the guy set this all up on motion and should be banned for this elaborate exploit/cheat.

I think we all need to face up to the fact that, for the very first time in the history of this game, irrational whining has received a disproportionate reward, to the detriment of all.

Oh, wait ...

Im just curious... all those cmdrs who self destructed out there, who found your lifepods and brought you back to the bubble?

This should have been a one way IRONMAN trip.

That way FD could have named the cluster after you guys, and held a CG to build an out post near there and then be forever immortalised for your achievements.

But as it is, my immersion is shattered and no longer will I hear your cries of 'but the roleplay'...

Again, the further erosion of the standards this game is supposed to promote in its own title. There very well could be future mechanics that would allow players to reach and return from such destinations.

...

Cheating/exploiting the system is cheating (Even if FD returned some people - If they did shame on them as well!!!)

Remove the tags, if not shows FD don't overly care about cheats/exploits, and if so, they be killing their game slowly but surely. Losing faith in the Dev Team is not a good look. Remove the Tag's FD cause this is on you to fix up the exploits and if required ban the people abusing the systems (And who ever returned players should be fired from FD as well if true!)

Despise cheating in any form.... Truly why play if you just want to cheat the systems???

Alright, I understand why people are upset, but I really don't understand the magnitude. There's no indication that this was planned from the beginning.

The guy had a bugged death, Support re-spawned him a while later, and he saw he had restored exploration data. On a lark he decided to head back to the Bubble to claim 2 systems.

Of course, it's possible that he planned it all. But without evidence that this was a Machiavellian plot to get his name on some distant stars, why all the outrage?

Im cool with the Neutronstar double Charge as it only makes Tags in AH Cancri possible but the m67 Cluster should stay completely untagged as long as there no "valid" way of getting back home.
If Frontier gives us the Opportunity to go back, then it should be for all Expedition Members in some kind of special Event and not like that.

Yeah I dont see anything wrong with the double NS boost, even if it might be a glitch. Its like going to a fast food joint that has free refills. You drink one there and before you leave get your refill to go.... lol

Doh. If OPs story is true it's really bad form. If someone jumps anyplace and has no fuel or hyperspace injections or whatever mojo to get back again... well ... that player is doomed to die a lonely death in space - by his own fault. Come on if I run out of fuel I can call the fuel rats but I can't hope the devs will magically transfer fuel to me by whining on the helpdesk.

This is crazy. I despise those who did try to get out of theire misery by complaining at help desk as well as those at help desk who agreed to that.

The technical support sure is there to help players who got into trouble becouse of technical probelms or any ongoings they are not responsible for themslefes. But those explorers got into the remotest regions of space with theire last jumponium depots and well .. they had to know what they are doing.

I would fully respect theire adventourous bravery and achievement. They have screenshots and vids they can make about it. But if they can not return to the bubble by ingame means the tags are CHEATED or even worse Frontier does handle special playergroups priviledged what is far worse then cheating in my eyes.

CONCLUSIO: If technical support helped one player to get back from remote region they have to help everyone. So now helpdesks job also is to play deepspace rescue for everyone. Call the support if you need rescue! Thats some news. :D

However I don't know if all this is not just some rumor and if it really has happened that Frontier did move players in game. This is only speculative still for me. But if it is true...

Some clarification:

The commander in question died en route to the M67 cluster. He then submitted a ticket alleging a bugged death( I don't know about that if it really happened or not)

While he was waiting for support, he respawned and came all the way back to Cancri climb, then resumed trek to M67 cluster, made it in cluster and scanned his systems. Then Fdev respawned him where he died just outside of cluster with his data intact from inside the cluster. He then made the choice to head back to bubble to turn it in.

That is what I understand how the events unfolded. Feel free for someone to correct me if I am wrong.

now I read this.. and oh my gowd... a unique story of bugs, choices made... is it Elite: Dawsons Creek ?

Haha.. it was Michael. He took Jane's Anconda while she was having an affair with Michael's best friend. Then...

Those who got their names on the stars in the distant cluster will be REMEMBERED FOREVER AND EVER.... and you.. who did not use the exploits of FD.... will be forgotten....

Long live the kings and queens which forever will give names to the IRL stars and planets in those clusters... the cunning and intelligence they used to achieve this feat is impressive to say the least. Nobody will remember the losers, only the winners.

That kind of drama is precisely why those "first discovered by" tags shouldn't have been a thing in the first place.

Interesting thread.

I'm not one of those who went on Distant Stars (in fact I'm hoping to join in soon) but I can understand how some might feel about this. Myself, I have no plans to return in one piece, just a plan to go there and stay until I can hitch a lift back home from a Thargoid. It'll mean much more wandering about, perfecting my SRV skills and even more CQC to pass the time.

I don't have much in the way of a solution to offer, but it'll be interesting to see how this develops. I wouldn't go for the exploration payments or first discoveries, but I just wouldn't mind hanging onto the information on planets and systems, for my own personal in game map purposes.
