Just curious, how many of the linux guys would object to the game being on steam? I know many linux users are idealistic, and I admire that (IMHO windows is holding back the development human society

). Steam has the potential to become a dangerous monopoly. So would you object if it was a "Steam only" game?
Only found this topic. As an Linux user and early backer I was interested in seeing ED on Linux. I don't mind running it on Windows as I dual boot for games/photo editing, however Linux is my main operating system so I'd like ditch Windows at some point completely.
People wrote about stability, I don't see any of them more stable than the other but this is my own experience. I can only say it's more safe than Windows with it's viruses/malware/spyware etc.
As for the question raised, I don't see a game running on Linux on Steam as a problem. This helps Linux in the long run. I'm not a big fan of Steam because of DRM but if it's going to bring more games/programs to Linux I'm happy with it. However I'd like to see DRM free version available for download for customers who don't want Steam. Something what GOG or Humble Indie Bundle does, they try to sell without DRM. Speaking of that I remember reading an article somewhere about "piracy" and there was a link to 4chan, where people were lynching a guy who tried to run pirated version of Witcher 2. I really liked the argument - "You don't pirate games made by CD-Project." - used by people who "pirate" software. That shows me you how successful they are with their business model and for that reason I'd like to see CD-Project and their GOG platform on Linux first rather than on Steam. So far it didn't happen. For the same reason I'd like to see ED on GOG rather than on Steam, preferably on Linux as well.
If I ever see ED running on Linux I'd be very happy, more so if it's going to be without DRM. If not, well it's life you can't have everything.
Really interesting thread.
