Elite Dangerous Issue Report - 07/09/2021

Heya!
Gosh Alec, this is a huuuuuge topic for the past...omgosh - ages throughout the Forum , so I'm happy to say it's not just me considering improvements based on feedback - we're still absolutely taking these kinds of thoughts onboard to hopefully update on progress soon. Thanks for sharing more on it!
This is very good to hear - the tracker workflow isn't easy for people to understand, especially the Confirmation/Confirmed distinctions.

Obviously there's a lot been said on longer-term improvements - better feedback as Alec mentions, reductions in confirmation requirements, etc. - but at the moment there seems to be a fairly urgent issue with reports getting to Confirmed but not being Acknowledged (from which, among other things, much of the content of this thread). At the moment there's 20 of these reports - mostly fairly recent, but some which have been hanging around for months without Acknowledgment - would you be able to ask if that could be looked at, please?

It's true that Fdev's communication has gotten better but imho these issue reports only show how much was wrong with the initial release of Odyssey.
I see no reason to be happy or cheerful at all to be honest.
I just can't believe this state of the update had gone unnoticed prior to release.

Absolutely agree with this.

I would add though that there are also some issues on the list which have been there for a very long time, are confirmed, and even Acknowledged and nothing has been done about them. An old favourite here for example

Has been outstanding for well over a year despite being Confirmed by a substantial number of players and Acknowledged by FDev. This is clearly a bugged mechanic, and I know this is still a problem that causes a lot of gameplay headaches.

Might be me, but for somebody who uses the "Frontier Developments" style, which is black on white, this thread is quite funny. Lighting issues are fixed.... in a posting which has a lot of white text on fainltly blue background, and thus is very hard to read. :D
Well, I have it in night mode

FDev (@sallymorganmoore), would it make sense to have alternative top 20 of the issue tracker ranked by a number of comments? Since we cannot vote for more than 6 issues at a time and those 6 issues are not being addressed - looking at a number of comments may give more adequate list.

That could lead to a lot of spam I'm afraid.

I agree. On the other hand current voting system (showing just 5 states instead of number of votes and inability to vote without devoting the other issues you voted before) seems to be completely useless. I would guess the list in the topic was not formed based on real votes, but just on issues mostly discussed on the forum (which fdev cannot just skip).

Hello everyone! First post, i took the time because i find it unbelievable that bugs like "nothing to do on shuttle rides" have taken more votes than all other problems that are slightly game breaking. Like the missions "infiltrate the data link data link" which if you get more than one, when you scan a ship log it makes another mission in another system as complete, instead of the one you're actually scanning for. Or missions like "tip off" or "salvage goods" that you cannot complete because of the fact that when you arrive to the very final stage of the mission of delivering the goods you have salvaged, the option to complete the mission is not given to you. It's like you're in the wrong place for completing the mission, but it's not like that. Or then again, the fines system that is half broken since odyssey. There are so many little bugs that i find incredible that something trivial like "nothing to do on shuttle rides" is even taken into exam before them. I'm starting to wonder what game are people playing?!?! Is it different than mine? And i've not even mentioned the mess that is VR now. I hope FD will eventually fix everything. Good luck CMDRs. o7

Hello everyone! First post,
Welcome! It's madness isn't it. I do totally agree with your points regarding those bugs that really need to be fixed first. I posted about this some pages back, but refrained from providing specific examples that just affect me because my point was more general and I didn't want it to be about the bugs I was experiencing. But these ones do (and some others).

Issue #9 under investigation... humm... let's me think...

  • XInput: Newer but limited (4 axes, 10 buttons, 2 triggers and 8-direction digital pad per controller)
  • DirectInput: Older, "legacy", harder to work but more powerful (8 axes, 128 buttons, and full-range POV)

Hard to make a decision... glup.

Nonetheless, modern simulators like DCS and MSFS support up to 128...

in everyone else's opinion ...gameplay shouldn't consist of doing nothing at all for long stretches of time. That's what movies and tv shows are for.
It's by design.
Because FDEV listened to the players a while back in a vote they emailed to all account holders.
Folks voted for no instant ship and module transfer. They wanted "realistic" xfer time aligned with Player flying their ship.

The issue is that watching a countdown timer and doing nothing is pointless. It isn't good design. It is a waste of precious adult game playing time/ disrespects gamers.

Long travel times don't make a totally unrealistic game more realistic.

Rather than waste development effort on mini-games that are not connected to the BGS or game proper, let ships accelerate and decelerate to max/min supercruise speed much faster. Keep limits in gravity wells and still allow interdictions. But don't make players wait 15 minutes to hit 1200c speed. That would be test number 1 for me. Then micro-jumps ONLY to in-system secondary stars that work just like normal jumps to stars would be my test #2.

It might be different if there was a LOT more gameplay and interesting things in the empty interstellar space, but there isn't. It's a make-believe game of flying make-believe spaceships. So the rate of acceleration and travel is make believe and arbitrary.

YOU CAN! By goodness, I had this sitting open, did things with it, then didn't reply. So sorry, Jack o7
Thank you! Happy Friday!
Please MAKE THE SUGGESTIONS FORUM MATTER by treating it more like this issue tracker top 20 list.

Voting on bugs doesn't make the most sense.

Having more actual interaction with the community on desired features makes a lot more sense.

Can we have some sort of SORTING AND JOINING trading with bartender plz?
Because it is mind blowing

Just example, but it keep appear on scrolling, meaning it sorts like by obtained legal/illegal etc.
Can it just all group by NAME then sort by NAME?
After 1 beer impossible to read all that. Mind is in fire.

If i'm selling trash i dont care was it legal or illeagl, i just sell all, and clicking same name 2-3-4 times to sell ...is bad.
Game doesn't show if it is useful or not, so I'm already stressed alt-tab to tools, then I must do on each line because lines aren't grouped. That is worst design I ever seen.
Players don't care internal properties set to items. We want to sell trash ASAP. Ideally with 1 button - "sell not useful trash".

Can u explain how this last trash item got there in list? By date I got it? Then where are dates shown?

Another related, tell me how can I say how many items do I have like 995/1000 without manual account it, if I'm not boarded?
