So I would concur some of what we have seen on various u tube uploads, will not be available to us ps4 players. Being its a bew firmat the galaxy should be void of any pirates, griefers and interDICKters for a bit of time. Giving new players a chance to make some money without having to look over our sholder all the time. BUT, like the phrase states: "Build it, they will come" the clock will be ticking, so one best not lollygag to long.
Agreed!
I spent the last 7.5 months playing NMS, 20 hours a day and 6 days a week which works out to be about 3,300 hours

Oh dear, I'm living in Europe. There goes the chance of playing together...I live in Mazatlan Mexico which is generaly for the most part on Mountain Time.
Question - do engineering effects "stack"? For example I was reading a thread about "efficient weapon". Can I put efficient weapon on a laser and then add another effect like incendiary or corrosive?
Another older gamer here. If you create an "Old Spacers" group, I'm in.
Fact of life Bill. Also you get a lot of 'love to hate' folks in MMO. Love to stay close to the zebras then hate the boring nature of gameplay because all he zebras look and taste alike. Ditto your sentiments above. Also there are specific locations that are being targeted and these sometimes cannot be avoided E.G. Engineers seems to the be the current favourite. So the gankers hang out at the engineers bases waiting for ppl trying to make it to the engineer so they can bank them and take their materials for the engineer. Understandable in a way really - like Lions waiting by the watering hole. Then there are max profit trade routes. Gankers hang out at the terminal ends of max trade routes so that the trader hits their final destination system, get killed, dump their cargo and they pick it up and sell it for max profit with minimum effort.
So yes, constantly evolving or altering your gameplay is probably the best way to avoid the lions.
The ability to destroy ones ship just for kicks and giggles keeps the majority of players available to play in open in the solo mode. I've read that there are two million players playing ED. WHERE are they? Add up all the subscribers in all the availble forums, includ all the subscribers on the multitude of internet dutes that post retorts in regards to ED, and it only adds up to a few thousand.
There is a reason why seniors drive slower. One of which is on a fixed income, repairs and of replacement are almost impossible. We worked (grinded) to get what we have and can no longer afford to loose it to anyone be it divorce or some . A second would be our reaction time. At my age, though I have a pretty good punch and if I land it, one is gonna be effected. HOWEVER, my speed and agility as well at longivity sucks. Which means, if I don't hit you first and stop the possible and most likely probable threat, I'm dead. I don't care if the game has those features, one can learn how to avoid them. IT's the human element that is the most dangerous in ED, computers use logic based on algorithims, destruction comes only when the numbers are correct. Humans destroy just because they can. SO, most avoid humans by only playing in solo.
Well the short answer is yes..and no. If you check out the engineers discussion board it gives you some insights. I can't recall if the new 2.3 patch has changed the engineers significantly but there are a couple of things to consider:
1) there is the engineered effect e.g. rapid fire, overcharged etc.
2) there is the special effect effect - incendiary, corrosive shells etc.
3) there is shield stacking
with weapons you can engineer an effect as you suggest such as rapid fire for lasers, or, I think, overcharged for multi cannons. With a projectile based weapon you can then add a special effect such as corrosive shells. With a power based weapon such as lasers you can add other specials effects.
Shields are a special case which were going to be nerfed this time round but FDev decided not to, which is a shame in my humble pinion but there you go. Basically what shield stacking allows you to do is stack multiple shield effect multipliers on top of each shield module for almost god-like shielding and it is certainly not well balanced. but I imagine it is how it will be when the game hits PS4 until the next patch - diminishing stack returns was the FDev plan apparently.
So, best to wait till it hits PS4 and see what can and cannot be stacked because by the time you get to a high enough level to spend your ridiculously hard earned cash and time playing with the RNGineers the game may have changed!!
