Elite Dangerous Universe Vs The Borg

"good stuff"

Voyager kinda proves a lot of that wrong tho eh? :p They lived off the land more than any other Starfleet vessel in history. They upgraded their modules with Borg tech, they traversed thousands of light years... they suffered damage beyond what ED ships could possibly withstand, and survive...

I suspect Starfleet are just a little bit TOO dependant on infrastructure - but when push comes to shove, they seem to have the ability to survive. I would bet Starfleet against Thargoids everytime.

ED would win if the borg had a hard time targetting us. Their beams are very powerful and our ships are way smaller than the Federation's in ST. Although the Borg would have a very hard time fighting ED ships as we can equip railguns, machine guns, cannons, mines, and missles. All these weapons are impossible for the borg to adapt to althought they can adapt to our energy weapons.

All those weapons would just bounce off their hull, doing nothing. I doubt they'd even be able to destroy a shuttle's windshield.

Kinetic weapons in space never made any sense anyway, considering that all the meteoroids constantly hitting ED ships while in flight would have far more impact force than any weapon projectile ever could.

Thargoids were repelled through a collaboration of two superpowers leading to the development and delivery of the mycoid virus.
Borg were repelled by telling them to go to sleep.

That was just the one Borg cube. The queen and her colony were destroyed by Capt Janeway, who was harboring a virus when she allowed herself to be assimilated.

Even the original War of the Worlds aliens were defeated with a virus. So sneeze often.

If we're using whole universes against each other, just send the Thargoids, they do their stuff, lights out green whatever that stuff is nothing in the Star Universe or Star Wars or Mass Effect stands a cat in hells chance

Naa, the Federation would just use it's phase cloaking tech. Or The Founders would do some cool things. But personally I'm thinking Section 31 would perfect the mycoid virus into something more efficient.

Sadly the Elite universe is lagging badly in weapons tech behind the Star Trek universe where a standard phaser bank in trek lore is powered in the terawatt range, likewise with shields. Or I guess it could be said Trek ships are way overpowered in the 23rd to 24th centuries.

However it's ironically true ED has more advanced hyperdrive and it still takes Trek ships many years to traverse the galaxy while it only takes ED ships weeks or days in comparison. In this respect, the ED human expansion should be able to colonize the rest of the galaxy within the next hundred years since the shortened to seconds hyperdrive breakthrough. (and powerplay bubbles should be able to expand with secondary headquarters to coordinate fortifications and substantiate more positive CC numbers, i.e. change the distance factors or use secondary headquarters))

They were nerfed in the Nu-Trekverse.

If we applied the full unrestricted physics of the ED universe and not the 'gamed' version we play in then yes the borg would die in a fire. But if you apply the 3km lasers and flight school FA then no we would die without even a flinch from the borg.

But 'real' physics doesn't make a good action game.

Definitely borg, they can travel faster than we can through hyper space, and can adapt to our weapons not to mention a farragut is a baby compared to a cube, thargoids would wet their insectoid pants

all of which is way to small to even damage their shields, and they can rapidly repair

So what it's powered in the terawatt range? That's some Trekkie Mumbo jumbo. It's like all they have are lasers and photon torpedoes which is very lame.

Star Trek ships can't travel like ships in Elite. Just look at those wimpy Star Trek ships, they're not built for war.

The United Federation of Planets is a fascist, fantasy utopia.

Which also means that the power and technology that ships possesses in the Elite universe is superior to Star Trek.

We don't know the full technical capabilities of The Thargoids. They originate from another galaxy, can live in a different dimension. They may already control their original galaxy and went to the Milky Way to expand.

As for the "coolness" prize the Borg (and Star Trek) lose hard. They're boring, human-looking cyborg zombies.
